It was only at midnight that Nate dared to go into his bedroom. The man saw that his wife had fallen asleep while still wearing her work clothes.
The man went straight into the bathroom to clean his body. He needs to cool his head. After that, Nate slowly replaced his wife's clothes with clean sleepwear. His wife looked completely slumbering in her sleep.
Getting into the blanket, Nate just hugged and kissed his wife's forehead deep when suddenly his wife woke up.
"Nate. I want to talk."
Hearing Lin's voice, Nate rubbed his wife's long hair and kissed her hair again. He was not willing to let go because he knew what the woman wanted to say.
Lin's hand rubbed her husband's warm back. After their quarrel, Lin returned to thinking and was finally able to understand why Nate had said such cruel things.
Lin had expected it for a long time, long before she knew she was pregnant. She knew for sure that Nate would be against her pregnancy, as this would be very risky for her own safety.
Both her hands squeezed her husband's waist tightly. This has to be resolved.
"Nate. I really need to talk to you, right now."
His wife's resolute voice finally made the man let go of his embrace. Nate got up from his position and leaned his body against the head of the bed. He did not look at his wife and just looked forward grimly.
Sighing, Lin followed her husband's position. He turned his head to Nate who still did not want to look at him. She looked at the side profile of her husband's perfect-looking face.
"Dad knows about this, Nate. He was also the first to know."
Her husband lowered his head, looking at his own hands.
"I knew. I remember, if he had ever told me about this indirectly."
Lin's eyes blinked. "When that?"
"On the day we leave for Lofoten. He told me to take care of you."
His wife fell silent, and turned her gaze forward.
When he spoke again, his wife's voice rang out and broke.
"Do you really not want this kid, Nate?"
Not hearing her husband's answer, Lin turned to the side and was stunned.
Her husband still did not look at her, but he could see a drop of tears flowing down his right cheek. Her husband was crying in silence.
"If my life can keep you both alive, I will very willingly give it to you, Lin. You know I love you so much."
Lin crawled up into her husband's lap. Both of his hands rubbed Nate's wet cheeks. The woman was finally able to see the radiance of Nate's eyes that looked desperate and full of sadness.
"You know, I lost my family once. In the past, I wanted to die but I was still able to survive. But now if I lose you, I'll really die after you, Lin." The voice within Nate sounded hoarse and broke.
Hearing that, Lin tightly hugged her husband's neck.
For some time, they just hugged each other in silence. Until finally, Nate also stretched their arms and looked at the face of his wife.
His wife's voice seemed to be full of deep sadness. Finally the man noticed the change of his wife's body, which did look a little contained lately.
The man rubbed his wife's cheek which was also wet from tears. Both of his hands hugged Lin's waist and finally stopped at the woman's hips.
"Lins. Honest me. How did you feel during this pregnancy? Have you ever felt sick or weak?"
The question made his wife shake her head slowly.
"Never, Nate. I really didn't know I was pregnant. It was you who first realized I was pregnant."
The man's forehead frowned slightly. This information was quite strange because as far as the man knew, the human woman who was pregnant from the V male seed would feel pain from the first week of her pregnancy. None lasted more than two weeks, however...
"Then, what have you been feeling all this time?"
"There really isn't. I never felt sick or vomited. My appetite is as usual. Nothing has changed."
Lin answered her husband with her head down. The woman**************hirt her husband and looked down at his hand.
"I'm sure I'm pregnant, after checking my womb after you left for Lofoten. At that moment I was sure that I was pregnant. If there's no examination and no photograph, I'll never believe."
Her husband's hand stroked Lin's hip slowly. Both of his eyebrows furrowed deeply. He realized that his wife was no ordinary man. This woman is also not a V who comes from blood. He was a pure descendant of a different race.
The man recalled Felix's words on the plane, regarding the possibilities his wife could do because of her racial mix. He also took a deep breath.
"One month."
Nate's words made Lin raise his head. She looked at her husband confused.
"One month we'll see if this fetus is going to put you in danger or not. If it's dangerous, we'll drop it. If not, we will defend it. What say?"
His wife's face suddenly turned bright. A happy smile was seen on her tiny lips.
"You're not lying, are you, Nate?"
That question made Nate inevitably smile. He rubbed his wife's hair.
"Why am I lying, Lin? I also want a child from your womb."
His hand stopped on his wife's slightly filled stomach, but still looked flat. The man rubbed gently on Lin's stomach, spreading warmth within.
"But if this pregnancy harms your life, then I'd rather you than this child. I can't lose you at all, Lin. You want to understand that?"
His wife's head nodded steadily. "I understand."
The man finally took a deep breath. He was a little relieved at this moment.
"It's good that you understand. Because I will absolutely ensure your safety during your pregnancy. And you can't protest at all."
Her husband's words that sounded possessive in Lin's ears, made the woman re-hug her husband's body tightly.
"Thank you, Nate. I promise to always take care of myself."
That night, the two returned to love. This time, the two of them actually did so with great care as tofu, there had managed to grow as the fruit of their romance all along, inside the stomach of LIn.
Two months later.
Without notice, Lin's gestational age had entered its 15th week.
The woman looked increasingly bright and shining, making her look even more beautiful. His stomach was slightly protruding, which he could still cover with his clothes that were never too tight.
The woman's pregnancy was only discovered by colleagues in her office, and many of them were quite shocked and heartbroken to learn that Lin was married.
"When did you get married, Alina? Why don't you ever invite us?"
Some of his colleagues asked the same question, and he always answered the same sentence.
"It's been a while. I wanted to keep it a secret from you guys."
"But why?"
"There's a personal reason. I'm sorry, but I can't tell you."
"Iina."
"Yes, Mr. Robert."
"Get into my room."
Realizing the mood of his boss who was not good, made Lin immediately withdraw from his colleagues who were still shrouding himself.
Slowly, Lin knocked on the door of his superior room that was still left open.
Seeing the middle-aged man nod his head, Lin finally entered Mr. Robert's room without closing the door.
"Sit down, Lin."
The middle-aged man observed the figure of the woman in front of him. Already 3 years ago, he realized that Lin had greater potential than his other colleagues, making the middle-aged man pay more attention to this subordinate.
He was still surprised, when Lin was able to quickly find out the financial statement game that had been made by the company's past leadership, making the man entangled in a long prison sentence.
At first the middle-aged man was slightly threatened by Lin's existence. He was quite worried that the young Lin, would quickly shift his position. But after working with him, he also knew that his men did not have great ambitions.
Lin only worked according to the capacity and authority given to him. He does not seek to become more or take over the work of others.
Even when the middle-aged man was promoting himself, Lin had resisted for some vague reason. He only accepted, when his superiors threatened to fire him right away. What a completely unreasonable way to be able to promote someone.
Now that the woman was married, the middle-aged man was very worried that Lin would actually resign from the company. Moreover, the woman was very close to her personal life, making Robertus quite anxious if he came out later.
He was simply unwilling to lose such a highly competent fellow like Lin.
"So, you're married, Alina?" Robert began his conversation.
"Really Sir. I've been married."
The middle-aged man nodded slowly. "If I may know, since when?"
This information made the middle-aged man a little surprised. He did not expect that Lin had been married that long.
"Is your husband an employee of the company too?"
"sorry. But I think the information is too personal for me. Even if it's true, there's no corporate policy that prohibits fellow employees from dating and getting married, as long as they're from a different department."
Mr. Robert's eyes blinked quickly. He did not expect that Lin would refuse to answer his question so clearly.
This subordinate is indeed really difficult to corrode the information. The old man finally breathed a losing breath.
"alright. Im sorry. But I'm really curious."
"I don't think that information will be of much use to you either, Mr. Robertus."
Lin's tone started to be a little sharp. He really does not like to be scratched like that, especially by people who are not at all close to him.
Berdehem, Mr. Robertus who already knew the character Lin was trying to shift the conversation to the topic he had wanted to ask.
"Actually I mean to call you, is to ask you your next plan, Alina."
Lin's brows furrowed. "My plan? Sorry, but I don't understand."
"I should have asked you this when you were just getting married. But it's not wrong if I ask now. Do you have any plans to resign any time soon?"
Mr. Robert's question made Lin lean his back against the chair. He has not thought of any plans regarding his current job.
"Actually, I haven't thought at all about it, Mr. Robertus. Right now, I just want to work according to an existing routine."
"Don't be offended if I ask this. Because frankly, I'm quite worried that suddenly your husband asked you to resign from the company. I still desperately need you in this department, Alina."
The indirect praise from the middle-aged man made Lin feel astonished. Although he knew that Mr. Robertus relied enough on him, but the middle-aged man almost never praised or defended someone who really wanted to get out of his team.
"I'm sure my husband supports my career here, Mr. Robertus. You don't have to worry. But indeed, I can't predict what will happen later."
The woman paused a little, and imagined that she had given birth later. Maybe he won't have as much time to work.
"If my husband asks me to stop working, I will still be a financial consultant. You'll still be able to contact me if you need help."
Lin's answer was the answer the middle-aged man had expected. And she was pretty sure, if Lin had given birth later, her husband would have asked his wife to stay home for a while. There was no way her husband would allow his new wife to have children to work as she is now.
The middle-aged man's face looked gloomy, imagining that Lin's time was only a few months away before the woman would likely resign forever from the company.
Their conversation came to a halt when there was a loud knock from the door.
When they turned their heads, they saw the large figure of Marcus and seemed to cover the gap of the door that was opening.
"Am I interrupting?"
Seeing Marcus' figure, Mr. Robertus immediately stood up from his seat.
"Sir Marcus! Is there anything I can help you with?"
The cold man was very rarely seen walking around the company, so his large figure looked quite intimidating in the department. The room became very quiet just because of the presence of the man.
"I have a need with Miss Alina Johan. Can I borrow it for a while until lunch time?"
Mr. Robertus turned his gaze to Lin who also looked puzzled. It was not usual for Marcus to call himself directly like this into the room.
"Of course Mr. Marcus. There's nothing important we're talking about."
Marcus nodded stiffly. He immediately turned his gaze to Lin who was still sitting.
"Miss Alina? Can you come with me now?"
"Well Mr. Marcus. Then, excuse me now, Mr. Robert."
"Of course, Alina. We'll continue our conversation sometime."
The woman nodded politely, and immediately followed Marcus, who seemed to step away from the door.
"Better, you bring your cell phone, Madam."
Lin heard Marcus whisper as they started to step up, making the woman stop and immediately headed towards his cubic.
He saw his phone in a condition of cupped and immediately grabbed it.
His eyes glared, when he saw there were 10 missed calls from MyV and also chat that was seen piling up in the application.
The woman massaged her temple. She did not realize that her husband had contacted her, because he had accidentally installed silent mode on his phone.
And because many of his colleagues had surrounded him earlier, Lin reversed the position of his phone, making him completely unaware that the man had called him so many times.
Sighing, Lin turned to Marcus who was still standing waiting for him.
Unexpectedly, the cold man was seen grinning creepily.
"You better come with me now Miss, before it's too late."
Oh God!
