Madness
Chapter 51's

"Lin!"

Lucy was seen waving her hand, making Lin approach her friend.

"Sorry old, Luce. There's something I need to finish."

Lucy shook her head. "Casual, Lin. I just came too."

Lucy noticed her friend who seemed to be flipping through the menu in front of her. Not long after, Lin called the waiter and ordered the food he wanted.

After the servant left, Lin turned to his friend. He decided he would first ask about the incident a few days ago, before being preceded by his friend.

"So, how's the story going you can hit that guy, Luce?"

Lucy's eyes widened slightly. He did want to ask about Lin's relationship with the tall black-haired man, and did not expect that his friend had asked him first.

"He really wasn't the abuser, Lin?"

Lin shook his head slowly. His sight was quite piercing to his friend.

"Not Luce. Like I said before, he's not the culprit. You still don't believe me apparently."

Lin's accusation that was right on target made Lucy's heart ache. The woman bowed.

"Sorry, Lin. I was thinking..."

"If you want to know, he's Mr. Marcus' partner. And how can I know him, because I've helped him several times on the job."

Lucy's hand on the table looks clenched. He still remembered how angry Mr. Marcus was at him when he saw him hit the stranger. Turns out this is why.

"She's an important person, Lin?"

"It's not just important, Luce. He is a very important person for the company. You've seen for yourself how Mr. Marcus reacted when he saw the man pressed yesterday. I can't imagine what Mr. Marcus would have done until his partner had completely passed out by then."

"It looks like I should apologize to her, Lin. I didn't mean to do that yesterday at all, but to think that he was that bad guy... I'm direct..."

Seeing her friend was truly regretful, making Lin clasped Lucy's hand tightly.

"Don't worry, Luce. I'm sure Mr. Marcus and his partner must have understood what you did yesterday."

"But I still have to apologize to him! You have to help me, Lin!"

His friend's request made Lin speechless. He was quite confused by this situation.

Obviously, Nate would never want to meet Lucy. Lucy's body odor made her husband unable to stand being around the woman. What's he supposed to do?

"I'll try to tell Mr. Marcus first. Later, let him decide what to do."

Lin could only say that. It seems that for the employee's business, Nate is handing over more to his assistant. She will talk to her husband later.

"Thank you, Lin. I was pretty scared when Mr. Marcus yelled at me. I seem to have gone too far yesterday."

Lin could only smile briefly in response. Not long after, the waiter came to bring the food he ordered earlier.

The woman was about to start eating, when Lucy pulled her left hand.

"What's this ring, Lin? Last week, I haven't seen you wear it."

That question made Lin freeze a little. He had not thought of any reason for his friend.

Lucy looked closely at the ring on her friend's ring finger.

"This is a real diamond, Lin? It seems very expensive."

Slowly, Lin placed his spoon on the plate. His mind turned to think of various reasons that might make sense to his friend.

"Is this a souvenir you bought yesterday while on vacation?"

Lin's eyes blinked at Lucy's words. He did tell his friend that he was going on vacation. There is absolutely no mention of his retirement plan.

"really. This is the souvenir I bought in Italy."

"But it's so pretty. Must be expensive. Can I see it? Maybe I'd like to buy it on vacation there, too."

Chuckling, Lin pulled his hand gently from his friend's grasp.

"The price is not expensive, Luce. If you know, many people offer things like this on the streets. I bought it because of its unique shape and like you said earlier, it looks more expensive than the original price."

"Oh so?" Lucy's eyes were still directed to the ring. He seemed very interested.

Lin flicked his hand in front of Lucy, making his friend blink in shock.

"It looks like you really need a vacation, Luce. It's just an ordinary item, there's no need to be too interested like that."

Avoiding this extended topic, Lin placed her left hand on her lap, making Lucy unable to see the ring anymore.

"We'd better eat soon, Luce. The break will soon be over."

After lunch, Lin immediately returned to his room. He seemed to have to start being more careful when talking to Lucy.

Taking out his phone, Lin typed something in his chat.

'Nate. Are you busy?'

A few minutes waiting, Nate still had not read and answered his chat. Feeling that her husband was busy, Lin finally put her phone on the table.

Just a few hours later, Nate replied to his message.

'Sorry Lin, just replied. I had a meeting with Marcus and some other officials. There are things to be done first.'

Smiling, Lin replied to the chat.

'No problem, Nate. I know you're busy. You still meeting now?'

'Ya actually. I'll probably be late for home later. You're okay, right?'

'It's okay, Nate. Then I'll see you at home later.'

'See you. Love you.'

Lin's fingers would automatically reply to the message and come to a halt halfway through.

Leaning his head on the chair, Lin sighed.

He wanted to reply with the same words, but his heart was not ready yet. He is not used to expressing affectionate words to others, so this makes him awkward.

While trying to brave himself to type those sacred words with trembling hands, he suddenly heard his cubic area on tap slowly.

Lin almost dropped his phone when he saw Lucy standing in front of him. The face of her friend is not clearly visible, because the area of the room that turned out to be turned off the lights make Lucy's figure like a silhouette.

"Luce! You're surprising me!"

His friend chuckled. "What time do you want to be here? Going overtime?"

Head Lin turned his head around, his forehead frowning. "What time is it?"

"Almost 9 o'clock. You don't want to go home?"

Lin only realized that he was struggling with the struggle of his heart for almost 1 hour. It would be ridiculous if she replied to her husband's message 1 hour after he read it.

Lin saw Lucy look already carrying her handbag. The woman was actually heading for the elevator when she saw Lin's work area which was still bright, making her approach her friend.

Turning off his computer screen, Lin also cleaned up the items on his desk.

They walked to the elevator and waited.

Hesitating, Lucy turned to her friend who was watching the elevator door in front of her.

"Oh yes, Lin. There's actually something I wanted to ask you about at the cafeteria."

Lin's head turned to Lucy and his brows raised slightly.

"What do you want to ask?"

"Regarding the stranger. You know what the name is"

Before Lucy could finish her sentence, the elevator bell rang loud and wide open.

The two women were quite surprised to see that the person inside was Marcus.

The man looked cold and expressionless. His body was stiff and like a statue.

Although he had met him several times and knew that the man was good enough, Lin was still unfamiliar with Marcus' intimidating aura.

"Good night."

There was Marcus' heavy, hoarse voice in the narrow elevator room.

"Good night, Mr. Marcus." The second lady who had just entered.

The iron box moved in silence. No one spoke, making the time feel like a long time for the women inside.

When the elevator stopped on the ground floor, Marcus again let out his signature sound.

"You're not out?"

"My car's parked in the basement, sir." Lin replied politely.

For a moment, Marcus looked at the woman in front of him and a very faint smile was seen on his thin lips. He nodded and started to step out.

"Then, I go first. You guys be careful on the road."

The two women nodded and immediately leaned limp against the wall as the elevator doors closed back.

"Sir Marcus is really scary." Lucy held his chest.

Lucy initially thought that Marcus was not that scary but since the incident in the elevator area yesterday, she decided not to mess with the big man.

His friend's comment made Lin chuckle. He immediately pulled the car keys out of his bag after the two exited the elevator in the basement parking area.

Seeing Lin approaching her car, Lucy recalled her question earlier. He immediately ran after Lin.

"Lin! Wait!"

His friend's call made Lin turn his head. "Why else Luce?"

Casually, Lin put his car keys in and prepared to open the door.

"Wait Lin! You haven't answered my question yet."

"Which question?" Lin had absolutely no memory of Lucy ever asking anything.

"The foreigner. What's name?"

Lucy's completely unprepared question made Lin freeze. Why does this friend like to make it so hard? The ring, now the name.

Lin couldn't possibly say that the name of the stranger was Nate, as he once said the name of the harasser was Nathanael aka Nate. Any fool would naturally be able to instantly deduce the two people as the same man.

Looking at Lin who was silent, made Lucy shake her friend's shoulder slowly.

"Lin? You hear me?"

"Eh, yes Luce. I heard."

"So, what's his name?" Ask Lucy excited.

Kening Lin frowned at the slightly strange gawd of her friend.

"Why do you want to know his name, Luce?"

Suddenly Lucy's cheeks look red, making Lin's heart somehow start to heat up.

"I'm pretty interested in him. He is handsome and seems like a good man. He didn't even retaliate when I beat him up. If he's not that bad guy, I want to get close to him. Moreover, it seems that he is quite often in our office."

This made Lin startled, and long-time flames of jealousy began to burn his heart. It seems that her husband is too kind, making other women misunderstand.

A little irritated, Lin was about to say something when the phone in his bag rang.

Myv.

"MyVs? Who is it, Lin?" Lucy accidentally sees the ID on Lin's phone ringing aloud.

"Hello? Yep. I'm already in the parking lot. I'll be home soon."

Lin's eyes glanced at Lucy who was looking at him sinlessly.

"You're naughty, huh? I'll punish you later at home. You're ready."

After that, Lin hung up his phone.

"Who is that, Lin? Your boyfriend?"

Lin's face looked furious, but he was trying to control his emotions. Right now, he needed to claim the man who had managed to irritate him.

"My husband."

"Husband!?" Lucy screamed in the quiet basement parking area, echoes.

"You're married? When's? Why don't I know?"

Lin opened the car door violently. He opened his window wide while rewinding his car.

"When will I tell you. I'm going home first Luce. And remember, it's still a secret. Good night!"

The woman immediately closed the window and drove her car from the parking area, causing a loud tire squeak and leaving marks on the floor.

At that time, Lucy was still in her place. He did not get any information from the question he asked his friend.

Meanwhile, Lin's car which was darting at a fairly high speed was caught by someone who was sitting in the car while calling. The man's eyebrows shot up high.

"Yes Sir. Madam just came out of the basement. And he seems pretty angry."

The man nodded his head. "Good Sir. Good night."

Sighing tiredly, the man stared at the person sitting behind the wheel from the rearview mirror.

"Henry. We're going to the Onyx club. I need some entertainment now."

"Well Mr. Marcus."

After that, Marcus' car had just left the parking area, bringing the man in it who began to dizzy to face household sparks from his boss.

He would never want to get married like this.
