Madness

Madness
Chapter 60's

Over the next week, Nate and Marcus accompany Johan on a trail in the Lofoten Islands. The old man looked joyful as he reminisced about his past with his comrades back then.

And although his condition was getting worse and worse, the old man seemed to be more than ready to welcome the day of his death that was approaching.

Every day, Nate would contact his wife instead of wiping out his longing, but the man was getting more and more tormented every day.

He could no longer sleep, and chose to stay with Marcus to discuss work instead of spending his solitude in the cold bedroom without his wife present, making his eyes slowly blacken again.

The same thing was seen happening to Felix, because the man looked increasingly quiet. Unlike Felix who can usually be friendly to everyone.

The only one who looks stable in the group is Marcus, who seems to be able to concentrate on working as long as he does not take care of Johan.

While Rosaline still remains passionate in entertaining her guests, and the woman also has another busy to manage the cake shop she has at one of the foothills of the mountain in Lofoten.

Until one dark morning, they were doing a routine that had been done for a few days back when Johan suddenly fell out of his wheelchair.

"Master Johan!"

"Dad!"

Nate and Marcus immediately helped the old man back into his chair.

Johan's body grew more frail, making it more difficult to breathe properly.

"Mertainer..." Johan's weak voice made Nate turn to him.

"Nathanael... Please take me to the meadow yesterday... I want to see it now..."

"Dad?"

"Please... Now, Nathanael... Take me..."

Nate looked at Marcus who was standing in front of him. Both of them were well aware of what was going to happen ahead.

"good. I'll take you there now. Don't worry, father."

Immediately, Nate arranged Johan's position so that the old man was in a safe condition, given his already extremely weak body. He also placed a thick blanket on Johan's thin body.

Slowly, the man pushed Johan's chair and the three of them stepped onto the meadow that the old man wanted to go to as his final resting place.

Once there, the weather was still a little dark and foggy. The air around is quite fresh as well as warm. The sun seemed to start peering on the sidelines of the clouds, making the dark morning atmosphere start to turn brighter.

The wind blew silently, shaking the weeds that grew wildly along the vast meadow. Many flowers began to bloom around the three of them.

"Nathanael... Marcus..."

In response, the two young men placed their hands on the right and left sides of the old man's shoulders. The two gently squeezed each other's frail shoulders.

"Thank you... Been my good kids... I am very happy with my life in this world... Nothing I regret anymore..."

Marcus closed his eyes which were starting to heat up. He gritted his teeth.

While Nate was seen raising his head, trying to prevent his tears from going down. Both of his eyes looked at the sun, which slowly began to direct its rays at the three of them.

Looking at the bright light, Johan's hand slowly rose and tried to grab it.

"Lorencian..."

In his thinning consciousness, Johan sees the figure of Lorencia, his life partner who has abandoned himself first right in the same place.

It was almost that the man caught up with his partner when the woman took her last breath, until she had been enlightened about her life purpose for coming to earth at that time.

This made him able to survive for a very long time, until he finally decided to have direct descendants from humans.

Johan never regretted the decision he made in his life. He has been content to live life, and that satisfaction makes him want to be reunited with his partner immediately.

The old man was seen smiling, as he felt his fingers touch the warmth in front of him. In his shadow, he could touch the fingers of his partner who seemed to welcome his arrival with a smile.

"Lorencian..."

Nate and Marcus begin to tremble, as they watch as Johan's fingers slowly begin to turn into shiny silver ash and are blown away by the wind before their eyes.

Slowly, Johan's figure gradually disappeared, leaving behind glowing powders, as the sun brightened up from the sky.

When Johan completely disappeared, Marcus' body fell to the ground. The man covered his face with both hands and his shoulders seemed to tremble.

Nate is still in his original position. He turned his head up and closed his eyes tightly. Her tears fell on one of her cheeks.

The two men, now, both have lost the figure of a father and also a superior whom they have admired for all eternity.

From a distance, Rosaline was clutching her long skirt. Both of his eyes looked watery and pushy looking at the scene in front of him.

Why do they all want to die in the same place?

Sighing deeply, the woman turned around and was shocked to see Felix had apparently been standing behind her.

"What are you doing here?"

Rosaline's voice sounded cold. Felix heard it this time.

"Just like you did."

The man said slowly. His eyes were full of emotions that he could not understand.

Rosaline's face looked grim, and the woman began to step away from Felix.

He stopped, when his upper arm was suddenly gripped by the man.

"Take it off, Felix." Rosaline did not want to look at Felix.

Felix's head turned slightly, looking at the face of the woman beside him.

"You're really gonna do this, Ine? Not ignoring me?"

"I'm just doing, what I should've done a long time ago."

Felix frowned at the words that sounded like the accusation.

"What do you mean?"

Slowly, Rosaline turned her head to face the man beside her. Her face is flat. Does not display any expression.

"You never really needed me, Felix. You only consider me a friend, because I am the only one who will listen to you. You think I don't know that?"

Emotions in his heart, make Rosaline want to reciprocate Felix's behavior on him.

The man slightly retreated and let go of his grip. He was shocked by the accusations from the woman. His head seemed to shake many times.

"No. That's not true. You know that, Ine. You've known me for hundreds of years. You know I'm not that kind of man."

"It is precisely because I have known you for a long time, that I can say this."

"But, I don't-"

"If you really think I'm Felix's best friend, you don't just come to me when you're about to deliver the death of a Master or when you're in trouble. Have you ever come to me, just because you wanted to see me?"

Felix's eyes looked at Rosaline. He could not say at all, if that was the only reason that could make him have the courage to meet the woman.

The man's head looked down at the ground. "You know that's not true, Ine."

The woman finally sighed softly. He can't lie at all. No matter how angry Rosaline is at someone, she can never tell a lie just to hurt that person. He also knew this man very well.

"Of course I know that's not true."

That answer made Felix's face turn a little bright. He looked back at Rosaline with a ray of hope.

"Whatever your reason, now it doesn't matter anymore. Because that information won't have any effect on our relationship."

"But at least we can still be friends, right?"

"No."

"no? But, why?"

Rosaline's face changed. His eyes looked teary looking at the man in front of him.

"Because I can't do it. Please don't be so cruel to me, Felix. If you will never accept me, then let me go. Don't let me get tied up and hope for you."

After saying that, a drop of tears fell onto Rosaline's smooth cheek. This sight made Felix freeze. Just this time, he saw the woman crying in his life.

Removing her tears violently, Rosaline turned her gaze the other way.

"Please forget about me. Forget that you ever knew me. And don't ever look for me again if you come here. I just asked that of you, Felix. This is truly my last wish to you."

Rosaline immediately stepped foot, leaving Felix still glued to the spot.

The man's face was cringing. He looked like he was in pain as he looked at Rosaline's footsteps, the longer she stayed away from him. For the second time in his life, Felix felt hurt and abandoned by the same woman.

"How can I forget you, Ine? How can you expect me to be able to do that?"

The man who had been known to be brilliant brained, had just admitted his foolishness that had been rash in acting. This puts him at risk of losing the only woman, who has managed to snatch and possess his heart.
