For some time, Lin could only be glued to the figure of her husband who was still stretched stiff and like a statue. The woman was confused as to what to do and was about to cry, when suddenly a ringing from her husband's phone rang.
Checking the caller's ID, Lin picked up the phone.
"Hello."
Hearing the receiver's voice, the caller was heard silent across the street.
"Hello, Mr Marcus? You still there?"
Finally the cold man regained his senses and slightly cleared his throat, to dispel his shock.
"Yes, Madam. I'm still here. You're already aware of it."
The woman's forehead was wrinkled deep. Aware? Whatdoes thatmean?
"What's wrong with me, Mr Marcus? Why do you say that?"
Marcus fell silent again, before he finally replied calmly.
"I'm on my way to your house and Sir. Ten more minutes I'll get there."
Marcus did not answer his question at all, leaving Lin confused.
"Oh? Oh, well then."
"Mistress?"
"Yes?"
The cold man closed both eyes for a moment. He didn't want to think badly at all, but knew it was happening right now.
"Can I talk to Mr Axelle now?"
Lin's gaze turned to look at her husband, who was completely unconscious at this moment.
"I'm sorry, I can't seem to Mr. Marcus. Nate... It seems Nate is sleeping..."
Marcus was able to catch Lin's voice sounding choked. The cold man's heart was pounding horribly, making his ears ring at this moment.
"Good, Mistress. I'll be there soon."
After the man hung up, Lin looked back at her husband's completely unchanged figure. The woman slowly kissed her husband's forehead which felt very cold.
Trying to gather his consciousness, Lin finally got up and headed for the bathroom. He should change his clothes with a more polite dress. Women realize that she woke up wrapped only in a towel and oversized bathrobe of her husband.
Not until ten minutes later, the doorbell rang loudly. Hurriedly, Lin opened the door and immediately looked at the tense-looking figure of Marcus. The man was seen carrying a cooler box in his left hand.
"Good day, Madam. Where is the master now?"
"In the bedroom."
The cold man seemed to be rushing towards their bedroom, but his steps suddenly stopped in front of the room. His head turned to the woman approaching him.
"Sorry, Madam. I'm..." The man's hand pointed at the doorknob hesitantly.
"Just go in, Mr. Marcus. Nate's inside."
The man's head nodded. "I'm sorry, then."
Quickly, the man immediately stepped into the room, which was followed by Lin behind him.
Marcus' body looked like a plank as he finally stood next to his top which looked stiffly stretched on the bed.
Lin could see the cold man's hands trembling, as he slowly placed the cooler box on the wooden floor.
As he spoke, Lin could hear the man's voice which was more hoarse than usual.
"When has Mister been like this?"
Reflex, Lin's head shook slowly despite knowing Marcus was standing behind him.
"I don't know. I also just woke up a few minutes ago."
The woman could not see Marcus' expression, but realized that the cold man was putting his hand on the sleeping man's forehead.
Slowly, Lin turned the bed and stood opposite Marcus who was beside her husband. The woman was a little surprised to see the cold man's expression that she had only seen for the first time.
The cold man's gaze was pushy and could not believe the sight he was looking at. His head seemed to be shaking slowly.
Swallowing his saliva with great difficulty, Lin finally ventured to ask.
"Mr Marcus. Do you know what's going on with Nate right now?"
Answering his question, Marcus' head only seemed to shake slowly many times. When he finally looked up and looked at the woman in front of him, the thing Lin saw made the woman retreat quite shocked.
One of Marcus' eyes let out a tear, which slowly went down his cheek.
"I'm late. I'm late, Madam. I have failed to protect Master."
Lin's eyes looked at the man in front of him. He was trying to regulate his emotions, but what Marcus said made his defense break into pieces.
"A-What do you mean, Mr Marcus? What do you mean you failed to protect Nate? Nate's gonna wake up, right?" The woman was starting to get a little hysterical at this moment.
The cold man's forehead creased deeply. It seemed that his big hand was holding onto Nate's stiff fingers and squeezing them firmly.
"I don't know, Madam. Right now all I can say is that you are in a very critical condition. Master will need time for recovery, which I have absolutely no idea how long."
The answer from Marcus, was by no means the answer that Lin had expected. The woman's head shook her head, balking at the words spoken by the cold man.
"No! Nate will definitely wake up! He's just going through the hibernation process, right? Nate once said he would sleep hibernating after he 'eat'. So he's gonna wake up, right?"
Marcus finally removed his grasp from Nate's hand, and his body returned to its usual uprightness as it looked at the woman. He was also very confused about how to explain this, without having to make his boss' wife panic and hysterical.
"I'll explain it to Madam, but can I go to the bathroom for a minute?"
That unexpected question made Lin's eyes blink rapidly.
Slightly bending his body, Marcus is seen picking up the cooler box lying beside him and showing it to Lin.
"I have to keep this thing right there. Otherwise, they'll be broken."
"What's that?"
Marcus breathed deeply. The man looked down a little.
"This is the blood supply requested by Sir. And I gave it to him too late."
Still in a confused state and unwilling to ask again, Lin finally nodded.
The woman followed Marcus into the bathroom. He saw the man press against one of the glass walls that finally opened, revealing a special refrigerated storage area.
There appeared to be several empty pockets and needles for the purposes of infusion and pumping blood hanging in them. There were still traces of black blood on one of the needles that connected it to the pump.
Slightly shifting Marcus's body covering it, Lin grabbed the still-wet needle and realized that the trail of blood was her own husband's blood.
His hands trembled as he put the large needle back into the closet.
"Actually, what has happened Mr Marcus?"
Hanging the last bag of blood in the special cupboard, Marcus finally closed the glass wall slowly.
"We'd better talk outside, ma'am. I don't want you to be mad at me, if anything happens with Madam later."
The woman closed her eyes tightly and nodded. He followed the cold man to the middle sofa, and left the door of Nate's bedroom slightly open.
Marcus asked Lin to sit down and give the woman a cup of warm tea.
"Thank you."
Although he has no appetite for pleasantries, but the woman needs to calm down. He slowly drank the tea Marcus had given him. The warmth from the liquid spread throughout his body, making him calmer and refocused.
He placed his empty cup on the table, and saw that Marcus was doing the same. The man's expression looked cloudy, just like his.
Clenching both of his hands, Lin's gaze sharply looked at the man in front of him.
"Please explain to me, Mr. Marcus. What the hell's been going on? And please don't hide anything from me."
The cold man's lips seemed to faintly smile. He finally can imagine, if this is what faced by his superiors every day when together with his wife.
"Do you remember what happened to you, Lady? Morning, while you're driving to the office?"
The woman nodded. "Yes. I still remember it."
"Can you tell me? In detail."
The woman looked deep in her breath. He leaned his body against the sofa and raised his hand to massage his temple.
"Frankly, recalling that makes me very angry."
Closing his eyes, Marcus asked back quietly.
"If I may know, why do you feel angry?"
The cold man was a little worried that what the woman would tell him was related to her personal problems with her husband. He was just relieved, when Lin turned out to tell a very different incident.
"I just finished paying the fuel bill for my car, when this guy suddenly greeted me and was being rude."
"What can you describe the man as?"
"Male perlente. Her hair was brownish blonde and her eyes dark blue. He may be in his early 30s. His body is not as tall as Nate's, but it seems he is quite happy to work out at the gym. His body is quite athletic, according to my size. Oho! And he's got a new red Ferrari. I still remember the police number."
Marcus' eyes blinked rapidly. He was only the second time to have a serious conversation with the wife of his boss, and finally increasingly understand why his boss can love his wife so much. This woman is a strong and intelligent woman.
The image of Lin very accurately describes the man named Dave Matthews. There is nothing wrong with his explanation.
"What has he done to you?"
"He patted my ass, Mr. Marcus. As soon as I slapped him, the man pulled my hair, making me have to slam him to the floor."
The description from Lin made Marcus clench both of his hands. He felt very angry at this moment, and was quite grateful that his superior could not hear him. The man was convinced that Nate would seek out and kill the man who had dared to harass his wife.
"Then, what happened?"
Lin let out his breath from his nose. The events of that morning were truly unthinkable during his lifetime.
"I think the problem is over. He harassed me, and I have already given him punishment. The end's. But it's not that easy."
The woman rubbed her face with both hands.
"When I was about to turn into the office, the man madly crashed his car into my car. And he did it twice, making me see his license plate clearly. That guy's totally crazy. I hope he's punished severely."
Marcus' hoarse and heavy voice sounded extremely cold as he replied to Lin.
"You don't have to worry, Madam. I assure you, that man will rot in prison."
This information made Lin startled and looked at Marcus.
"Do you know who that person is?"
"Police have arrested and thrown him in jail. Although still in process, but I guarantee that he will not be able to get out of there in a long time."
Chief Lin nodded. The woman was satisfied because it turned out that the man had received the appropriate punishment.
"Do you remember what happened after the collision?"
The woman shook her head. "The last thing I remember was when he was going to crash the car for the second time, and after that I don't remember anything. I just realized I was home when I woke up a while ago."
After he finished telling the story, Lin's head turned to Marcus and looked at him sharply.
"Now, it's your turn Mr. Marcus. You have to tell me in detail what really happened to my husband."
The demands from Lin could already be expected. But still, Marcus was still quite confused as to where to start. In the end, the cold man opened his mouth and began his explanation.
