Madness

Madness
Chapter 23

"Do you know about your origin, Lin?"

Lin slightly lowered his head, thinking. He did not want to just tell his past. He should know first, the extent of the information known to the man.

Looking up, the woman looked at the man in front of her. His eyes were firm.

"Before that, I wanted to know how far you knew about me, Nate?"

The man smiled slantedly. He knew this woman in front of him was not a fool. Otherwise, he would not have been able to unpack the fraud case that Nate had been after for a long time.

The woman also seemed to always be careful in stepping, considering that she had never been involved with someone and also never settled for long in one place.

The man again leaned his back, and placed one of his elbows on the head of the sofa. He rested one foot on the other.

Nate felt it would be better if he opened up to the woman. Although still, he would not directly reveal some important information. He still wants to keep it first.

"I know that you're a mixed descendant. You move around quite often and almost never stay in one place for long. You only have your mother and she's been dead long enough."

The man glanced at the woman beside him who looked quite shocked, when he realized that the man had found out information regarding his past quite accurately.

"And I know that your actual age is 45."

Lin clenched the hand that was on his lap. He felt quite angry at this man in front of him. What right does the man have to dig up information about himself?

"When and how do you know all this?"

Lin tried to hold back his anger. His gaze was directed at the fist on his lap.

"After our first meeting. I said before, you have a different smell. So, I decided to dig further about you."

Nate's reasoning makes perfect sense. This slightly dampened Lin's anger. If he had the source, maybe he would also do the same as that man.

For the same reason as Nate, he had also been aware of the vagaries of the man since the beginning of their meeting.

"As for how I got the information, I can't say it just yet. He is a very trustworthy person."

Understandably, Lin nodded his head. "Everything you know?"

"Right now, I can only tell you that far."

Nate's statement gave an alarm in Lin's mind, that the man knew far more about her than he was willing to say. It's no wonder.

Nate glanced at the woman next to him. Trying to read his reaction. He should be quite careful in playing his cards with this woman.

He knew if he got the card wrong, then this woman could just disappear from his presence. And he didn't want that until it happened.

"What do you want to know about me?" Lin still did not want to look at Nate.

"Do you know who your father is, Lin?"

That question made Lin close both of his eyes. Her heart again felt pain, recalling her past being raised without normal affection.

The woman finally shook her head. He still looked at the hand on his lap.

"I never knew. My mother never talked about her either."

Hearing that answer, Nate slightly took a sharp breath. He did not expect at all. Lin didn't know that his father was Master Alexander Johan?

Finally he got confirmation why Master Johan to ask Felix for help to find his daughter. The old man had no idea of his son's whereabouts, nor did his daughter ever know who his father was.

The Vs would never have asked Felix for help if it wasn't too important. The price of blue-eyed men is very expensive. And it cannot be measured by money.

"You have absolutely no idea who your father is?"

"Absolutely not. I've also been trying to find out from my mother's belongings, but found nothing at all."

Nate had known his Master long enough. The old man was known as someone who would never ignore people who were loyal to him. Especially considering the woman in front of him is his own biological daughter.

There must be a reason why Master Johan must be separated from his son. And all along.

Nate decided to change the conversation to something more neutral. He will return to discuss the sensitive topic at a more appropriate time later.

Right now, he only wanted to understand as much as he could about Lin and it had to come out of the woman's own mouth.

"When did you know you were different?"

This change in topic made Lin blink his eyes. He finally looked at Nate.

The woman leaned her back against the sofa. His body relaxed a little at this moment. He was a little relieved because he was finally able to tell freely about his life story.

"In fact, since childhood, I've been aware of the oddity in my body. I used to have an accident while playing softball, which made my head hurt pretty badly. But after arriving at the Hospital, it turned out that his wound had healed. There is no ex either."

Lin's gaze turned sideways, towards the elongated window in the room. The view outside looks dark. There were only a few stars and the lights of the building below.

"At that time, everyone thought that maybe I wasn't hurt. And what's in my head is someone else's blood. But..." The woman fell silent.

"But?" Nate fishing rod.

The woman looked up and looked at the man in front of her.

"But I was the one who felt when the ball hit my temple hard. I still felt the pain at that time. So I know for a fact that I was the one who was hurt at the time."

Redirecting his gaze to the window, Lin continued his story.

"Since then, I've finally started to avoid getting too close to others. I'm afraid that accidentally doing something that would actually make me look like a strange creature."

"Did anyone ever say that to you?"

Lin shakes. "Not really. But the longer I began to realize that my physique had not undergone any significant changes, forcing me to move jobs before anyone noticed."

His forehead seemed to wince when recalling his childhood years that were also spent moving from one place, to another.

"Since childhood, my mother and I have never wanted to stay in one place for too long."

Nate. Another reason why Master Johan had become harder to find them.

"You never tried asking her?" Nate's eyebrows raised.

Lin shook his head slowly. He looked back at his hand.

"No. I don't dare. We hardly ever communicate, Nate. All his life he always seemed scared. It's like being chased by something scary."

The man frowned deeply. "So how do you know you're mixed?"

Lin seemed to be trying to wet his throat that felt dry. It was a very tough phase for him at the time.

"At the time before she died, my mother told me about my origins. That I came from something different, and that he didn't want me at all."

The woman seemed to blink her watery eyes.

"But before he could go any further, he had already breathed his last. He only had a glimpse of the life of the Vs and that they were not good creatures. Therefore, my knowledge is indeed very limited."

"When did your mother die?"

"It's been a while. When I was 21."

"How did you survive that time?"

"I don't know either. Maybe because I'm used to being independent and supporting myself, and my mom. But still..."

Lin's story rattled Nate. The man really felt sorry for this woman in front of him. Who must continue to survive in confusion because no one can be asked.

Successfully taking out something emotional and had long been stored in his chest at this moment, made Lin feel fragile. He actually wanted to cry at this moment.

Shaking, he took the cup in front of him and accidentally dropped it and spilled its contents onto the white carpet below.

"Oh!"

Crouching down, Lin grabbed the tissue on the table and tried to clean the stained carpet.

"Sorry, Nate. I'll clean it up."

The man immediately attempted to grab the woman's upper arm, preventing her from cleaning something that was not his duty.

"That's it. It's okay, Lin. Let the cleaning service do the cleaning."

The position of the man slightly lowered his head as he grabbed him, making Lin's face right in the area of his chest that was covered in a thick vest.

Slowly the strong scent of Nate began to be absorbed by Lin's nose, making the woman's eyes darken again.

Realizing that the woman in front of him had not moved from her position, the man asked quietly, "Lin?"

Lin raised his face slowly and looked at Nate intensely.

Nate's consciousness came too late. The woman in front of him encouraged the man to back up to the sofa, and nimbly sat on both of his thighs.

Being on the lap of the man, the woman started to move her hands. He rubbed Nate's chest that was covered in a vest.

Lin's gaze followed the motion of his hand, which began to stroke the man's upper arm and pointed towards the man's neck in front of him.

"Came on..."

Nate blinked his eyes. His chest was pounding violently, when he felt Lin's behavior that was much softer than before.

Is Lin starting to like him? In my heart, the man was hoping.

His hands were on the woman's waist and thighs, trying to keep her from falling off her lap.

Lin seemed to still be focused on his activities rubbing the thick hair of the man. He began to look at the face of the man in front of him.

Slowly, Lin pushed Nate's glasses over his head. His fingers rubbed both of the man's thick eyebrows, into his nose and towards his slightly open lips.

The woman seemed stunned by what she was seeing. Lin gave a light elusan on both of Nate's lips. Getting this gentle treatment, Nate's eyes began to darken.

Slowly, the sight of Lin's two black eyes rose and looked at Nate's eyes which had also been completely blackened. The two pairs of eyes twitched, there seemed to be an unexpressed emotion within them.

Lin rubbed both cheeks of Nate who began to overgrow the beard, and began to bring his face closer to the man.

"Nate..."

After that, he kissed Nate's open lips which were greeted with happiness by the man.
