New Happiness, Begins

New Happiness, Begins
The Part 10

The sound of knocking on the door made them look. Kristofer stood there, with a dirty work hat in hand and an anxious expression on his face. Kris was the oldest worker there, although he did his job well, the Booker brothers always tried to give him a light task project. Kris has no family, but David suspects the man survives to make friends instead of needing a job. Kris got along well with other workers, he also often gave them tea and compresses to treat sore throats and bruised eyes.

"Hey, Kris, how can we help you?" Greetings Harry

"I heard about the accident. I'll give you something that might help." He lifted a small bottle.

"What's that?" David asked as he waved for the man to get closer.

"Wintergreen oil, rubbing drugs." Kristofer grinned broadly as he held out the dirty bottle to David. "Efficacy to relieve pain and swelling."

In terms of bathing, his body odor was really pungent. David held his breath. "Thank you very much, Chris. I'll try."

"Good," said the man, then he stood there and looked at David expectantly. "Come on."

"Will he try later." Said Harry

Kristofer was offended. "The sooner rubbed the more potent."

"Then I'll try." David said, knowing Kris will not be satisfied until he really does. He opened the bottle and smelled it. The pungent aroma of the menthol gushed into his nose and made his eyes water. David dripped the oil onto his fingertips and applied it on the skin around the top and bottom of the cast. Then he looked at Kristofer. "I feel better."

Kristofer smiled widely, looking very happy. "I think I should get back to work. Tell me, David, if the scrub runs out."

David nodded and smiled.

The man also came out of the room. After the door closed, Harry exhaled and shook his hands in front of his face. "I don't know which smells worse, Kristofer's body or the ingredients." He nodded towards David. "You shouldn't have raised her heart."

"It's not dangerous" David said

"But it's a problem to look for him because of the doctor" said Harry

"It can definitely be done, the doctor did too. Let's just say the contract has been signed."

"Don't pretend, that woman seems to be immune to your childish charm." Harry said "I hope you don't act stupid anymore."

"I'll grow that liking." David smiled broadly.

The broken leg gave him a reason to visit the doctor. And after convincing Little Doctor Ma'am to stay, she will get her inner, family land.

Kendall tried to maintain her composure while walking towards the room with concentration on every step taken. But David's hurtful words echoed in his head, reawakening the insecurity and lack of confidence he had reinforced with his former fiancee's betrayal.

Being rejected is painful, damn it.

The women were cleaning up in the crowded hostel. Those cheerful faces passed by and carefree steps leaped up and down the stairs. The chat coloring every corner, accompanied by an explosion of laughter and a happy squeal.

But the excitement only made Kendall more upset. Everyone seemed happy here, while he still felt lonely like this.

"Doctor Jenner," came a loud voice behind him. "Doctor Jenner!"

Hailey Baldwin's. Kendall turned around and forced herself to smile at the woman. "Yes?"

"How are things, David?" she asked, holding her little dog, Oscar. The beast looked uncomfortable, as if it was being squeezed.

Kendall put her lips together. "He will not die. Just a broken leg." Kendall closed her eyes, but when she opened them again, Hailey and her dog were still there. "I'm tired, so if you don't mind, I'll go to the room." He turned and started to climb the stairs.

"The men are having a barbecue party to welcome us to Happiness" Hailey said.

"I don't think I'm coming" Kendall replied from behind her shoulder

"Do you think David needs my help to get there?"

Kendall rolled her eyes, but didn't look. At the top of the stairs, he turned towards his room at the end of the corridor.

"Doctor Jenner?"

Kendall sighed, then turned around again and leaned against the staircase fence. "Yes, Hailey?"

"Do you like this place?"

Hailey seemed to think, as if Kendall's answer really mattered.

"All right, thank you.."

Kendall turned again towards the room and closed her lips.

After Kendall closed the bedroom door and leaned there, she had already decided.

It will leave happiness.

He would wait until everyone left for the barbecue party, then run away to avoid the commotion. He'll leave a letter for the Booker brothers, and when anyone realizes he's gone, he may be back in Denville.

Fortunately, he had not taken out all the items, he thought as he approached a suitcase that was open on the mattress. He folded back the clothes he had worn and put them on the top, then began to collect toiletries that were used up.

Coming here made him realize how comfortable his life was in Denville. Kendall was deep in thought until a knock on the door left her aghast. With his heart pounding, he walked to the door and covered the suitcase on a mattress that was almost finished filling. He didn't want to tell anyone he was leaving.

"Hi" said David Booker with a misguided smile. His hazel eyes were slightly misty and he leaned firmly against the crutches. Kendall noticed, David was wearing a black T-shirt that stretched beautifully across his body.

Kendall's heart rate is growing faster. "There's something I can help Mr. Booker?"

"No, I came to talk to you. Can I come in?"

Kendall begins to fidget, trying to block the suitcase from David's sight. "Wouldn't. Did you go up the stairs with crutches?"

"I think it'll be a good exercise." Then David let out a sad voice. "I just realized how exhausting that action was."

Kendall felt sorry, then opened the door wider and let David in. He left the door open as David sat on the bed next to the suitcase.

An unpleasant smell poured into the room. "You what is that?"

"Oh, wintergreen oil. Kris said, it works to relieve swelling and pain."

"So is the medicine I gave you." Kendall clenched her jaw.

"I know, but this oil is harmless, right?"

Kendall rubbed the corners of her watery eyes. "Only for those who are far away from you."

Outraged by David's presence, Kendall folded her hands. "What's on your mind, Mr. Booker?"

David observes the full suitcase in bed, then sees another suitcase next to an empty closet. "You want to go?"

"I haven't cleaned up. You forget, I've been busy all day." Get Kendall

David looked around. "Your room's good. You likey?"

"Yes." Yeah." Answer Kendall briefly

"There's complaints?"

"It's better if there's hot water."

David was offended. "There should be plenty of hot water."

"Yeah, there's not a drop when I take a shower."

David got up and limped into the bathroom with crutches. "You sure? You turned the tap to the left?"

The wrinkle on David's face deepened. "We installed a small, fluorescent shower head that drained about eight gallons of water for a five-minute shower. I put ten gallons in the calculation to make sure there's enough hot water for a hundred showers in the short term."

David seemed so proud of himself that Kendall could barely break that pride. But he couldn't stand it anymore, he laughed while covering his mouth with his hands.

"What's so funny?" Ask David

"I don't know a woman who takes a bath for five minutes."

"really?" David was panicking. A second later, Kendall realized how little this man knew about women.
