The woman stopped and turned around. "Yes?"
"We're hoping you can give us some input for the clinic we're building."
The woman's eyes conveyed a deep aggravation, she finally nodded quickly. "sure." Then he gestured towards the dormitory. "I have to go back."
David smiled broadly. "I'll keep you walking."
He approached Kendall, but from her body language, he knew the woman was unhappy. Doctor Jenner walks ahead, but David can catch up.
"Your group had made us hot cold."
"They're not my group" Kendall said sharply
"We're glad you're all gonna stay."
"You know I won't stay" said Kendall
"But they don't know?"
Kendall's lips curl up tightly. "No, not yet."
"So until your car's ready, will you help build the clinic?"
"I don't think I have any more exciting activities" said Kendall lethargic
"For a while, we'll move all your supplies to one of the empty rooms on the first floor so you have the privacy of checking on the patient."
"By the patient, I heard there was an injured worker this morning. Why am I not called?"
David did not want to tell the workers that he did not want the woman to be called and instead asked Kristofer to take care of their wounds and bruises. "They're injuries aren't serious, just scratches."
"That's it," Kendall said in disbelief.
"They were strong and used to withhold small wounds."
They had reached the dormitory, Kendall stopped at the door, clearly not wanting David to come in. Nose crept. "How does evergreen oil work?"
David felt bad. "Not as good as the medicine you gave."
Kendall's eyebrows shot up. "I'd guess. Well, if you don't mind, I'll make a list of things your new clinic will need."
"May I help?"
"No." said Kendall bluntly
As Kendall turned around, David said, "Doctor Jenner, I'm sorry for always making you the center of attention."
Kendall's expression showed that David was unforgivable. It makes David wonder again what situation Kendall left in Denville, who now wants to make it back.
Kendall pointed to David's cast. "You better not put weight on your feet." He went into the dormitory and closed the door behind him.
On the way home to the cafeteria, David passed by Hailey, who had stopped to smile flirtatiously at him. "You want to accompany us on a shopping trip to Atlanta tomorrow?"
For a moment, David was glad his attention was distracted by the woman's beauty. There's nothing David likes more than spending the whole day with a beautiful woman who wants to spend time with him. But he had to keep an eye on Kendall, who knew the doctor was taking the opportunity to escape.
"Thank you but right now I'm really less agile" he said with a chuckle. "Hailey, how well do you know Doctor Jenner?"
"What's his life story?"
"Kendall has no plans to come with us until the last minute. He used to have a fiancee."
David surprised. "Wedding?"
"With lawyers. Looks like a nice guy. Then Kendall found out she was having an affair, so they split up. I think Kendall just wants to get away from all the gossip."
So the woman came to treat the broken heart. Was yesterday at the tower he talking to the ex-fiancee?
Did the man ask her to come back?
"Thank you." David said in passing.
"You got plans this afternoon?" hailey asked as she touched the front of David's shirt. "Maybe we can get to know each other."
Two minutes ago maybe David would have agreed. So why did the idea suddenly become so uninteresting? "Maybe next time," he heard himself say. "There's a lot of things I have to talk about with my brother."
Hailey thunts. "Okay, next time then."
David watches over Hailey's departure, admiring the swing of her great ass. The woman had more curves than the mountain road. If the situation with the doctor is under control and the cast is removed, he will be happy to go along the curves. David scolded. At this time, the task of calling.
The women had already dispersed and left her brother in front of the cafeteria. He looked really lethargic.
"Be cheerful" said David, limping closer. "They're staying, right?"
"With a high price," Harry snapped as he pointed at the list
"That's the price to pay to build a business" David Kalem said. "It needs to be done."
"Does our doctor stay?" ask Harry
"He refused" David avoided. "But he agreed to help plan the clinic until the car was ready."
Harry stabbed David with a finger. "Work with the doctor, ask him to participate in the clinic. I'll get the crew to speed up the construction of the clinic, maybe after having the building to practice, the doctor wants to stay."
David grumpily. "If there are patients. He asked why he had not been told about the injured this morning."
"That means you have other duties" said Harry. "Get a patient for him."
...----------------...
Kendall was in a first-floor room that had been set up as a venue, sitting behind a small writing desk and pressing a computer keyboard, extending the list of supplies needed to set up a basic medical facility. The small amount of medicinal supplies he brought were arranged according to his taste on the bookshelf. A small bed was put in there, and chairs for patients were lined up in the corridor.
The dormitory was quiet because this morning, the group of women who had set out to buy supplies had already left. He was thinking about going to Atlanta, then renting a car to return to Denville.
But that means he has to take more time on a long journey, then how can he take back his car? After all, he had promised that as long as his car was repaired, he would try his best to help the establishment of the clinic at that place.
He glanced at David's worn-out work shirt, folded on the back of the chair and subconsciously picked it up. Curious what is already causing jagged tears on the shoulders and greenish stains on the cuff.
A voice broke his daydream. Not car horn, but similar. And urgent. Kendall walked to the window, peered outside, and saw David sitting at the ATV, waving at her. The man signaled for her to come out.
Kendall's stomach was slightly wrapped around making her hesitate. Last night he woke up thinking about his former fiance, feeling very lonely, then his mind floated on David and that misplaced kiss, his mischievous smile and the man's determination to make up for his words. Kendall doesn't want to like David too deeply, it's too soon.
