Kendall thanked the volunteers who had been looking after her patients all night. He was relieved that everything was fine and excited. He then introduced Dok Kris to Doctor Kadra and expressed the young man's interest in natural medicine.
Kristofer looked at Kendall with caution. "I thought you didn't like my concoction, Doc."
Kendall looked at the old man in front of her, understanding the fear in Kristofer's eyes that he was no longer useful. "I think there's enough room for both of us on this mountain, Kris. Even I wonder if you have more licorice candy to treat my allergies."
Kris smiled broadly. "Does that mean you're staying, Doc?"
Kendall smiled. "Yes, I've decided to stay in Happiness."
Christopher laughed a little. "Well, I don't want to praise David. He told Harry that it would make you stay, and he succeeded."
Kendall frowned, suddenly agitated. "What do you mean?"
"Harry is afraid that if you leave, other women will follow in your footsteps as well. So he told David to keep you here, no matter what." Kris laughed.
"I heard David deliberately sabotaged your car."
Kendall's mouth is dry. So he could have left this place long ago?
The old man laughed again, clearly amused. "They want you so much. Harry even lured David to the family estate if he could make you stay."
That land is the place David loved in these mountains. Obviously he was willing to do anything to have it, even seduce the doctor into staying. Kendall felt nauseous.
"So what did that prankster do to make you stay? He gave you a lot of money?"
Kendall swallowed the saliva, then finally spoke. "No. It's not like that."
Doctor Kadra squinted at him. "Are you okay, Doctor Jenner?"
"Yes," Kendall murmured. "I just need some fresh air."
"I'll take care of this place if you trust me" the young man cheerfully proposed.
"Actually," Kendall said, taking off her white coat, "this place is now all yours."
Doctor Kadra. "I'm sorry?"
Kendall gave the suit to him. "Hopefully succeed." The pellets are hot with tears. He walked out of the place with his eyes closed, turning back his last friendship with David. I need you.. would you sneak out?. Please say you will stay... I will prepare a contract so that you can sign it when you get back here. It's not about love or commitment. He was stupid.
Again.
He pushed open the clinic door and walked out, swallowing the saliva, hoping that the breeze of the flower-scented wind could clear his mind. But the air felt stifling and made her nauseous. Kendall breathed short and kept moving, walking quickly back to the dorm with a troubled mind. Can he be so stupid that he thinks David Booker, the man who can get whichever woman he wants, is in love with him?
His skin was burning with a humiliated feeling. The man probably laughed at how quickly he turned himself in. She was indeed a tender, simple woman with no experience who was dumped by her fiance.
Kendall closed her eyes for a moment. Daniel. How could he face that man? Then he swallowed the saliva with great difficulty. He will face the man later. Right now, at least Daniel can take her away from here.
And now, Kendall is also impatient to leave Happiness.
...----------------...
David stretched his body all the way in Kendall's bed, feeling very satisfied. So this is what it feels like to fall in love with her from head to toe and already impatiently want to see her again, caught between the desire to show off the woman to the rest of the world and have her for yourself. His brain kept turning. He can't stay with Kendall in this dorm and Kendall can't stay with him. He had to set aside time to start building a house on the family land.
A few weeks ago, it was impossible for him to imagine thinking such things, but now he wanted to? David laughed at himself. Her brother would definitely mock her all-out.
Suddenly he felt sorry for Harry. So this is how the brother feels about Cara. No wonder he got so annoying after the woman left. Why would someone face such a drastic change, from the top down to the valley, because of the loss of a loved one, huh? David doesn't want to know.
Suddenly the door opened wide. David looked over and saw Kendall standing there. He smiled until he realized that the woman did not look happy.
"You have to go, David."
Surprised, David got up and leaned to the elbow. "Am I doing something wrong?"
Kendall walks into the closet, pulls out the suitcase and takes it to the bed. "No. It seems you're doing everything right."
David shifted to avoid the suitcase. "I don't understand."
Kendall wouldn't look at him. The woman began to snatch things from the closet and throw them into the suitcase. "I know everything. I know you sabotaged my car so I couldn't leave. And I know Harry promised you family land if you could make me stay. Congratulations, you almost made it."
Panic strikes David. "Wait a minute..."
"You want to deny?" kendall asked, her voice cynical.
"You want to deny you've tampered with my car?"
David was agitated. "No."
"And you deny that Harry promised me the family land if you manage to convince me to stay?"
David began to see how severe the situation was from Kendall's point of view. "That's not why, I mean, my wish for you to stay has nothing to do with other things."
Kendall laughed bitterly. "That's right."
"Can we talk?"
"No." Kendall pulled the remaining clothes from the closet into a hug, then stuffed them all into the suitcase.
David got up and grabbed the only crutches there, trying to stand up. Shit, where are the clothes? He pulled the sheets and wrapped them around his waist while limping forward with a crutch. "Kendall, please listen. This isn't what you think it is."
Kendall stop. "Masa? Well, then, how about?"
David was paralyzed. He never said "i love you" to women. He never fell in love, not understanding how it all should go. Suddenly, he felt all of Kendall's hopes weighing down his shoulders. Kendall's decision to stay or leave Happiness will depend on her feelings for the woman. And at the moment, David is not sure he can accept that responsibility.
After a long and painful silence, Kendall nodded. "I guessed it."
"I'm sorry, Kendall."
"It's my fault" Kendall said as she roughly zipped the suitcase. "My friend warned me this was going to happen."
David wants Kendall to keep talking while he's looking for clothes. "What friend?"
"My friend Cara Delevigne, in Denville first. He comes from a small town. He warned me about the nature of men and I don't listen."
David was stunned, his mind instantly changing direction. How's Delevigne? Is that the same person he thought he was? As Kendall lifts the suitcase and walks outside, David's attention is drawn again into the present moment. Kendall followed, could not align the steps with only one crutch and still had to grip the sheets around the waist. A small crowd had already formed in the corridor and was watching. David doesn't care.
"Kendall, please listen first" he called. "You can't go."
"Look at it" Kendall said to shoulder.
