David honks again and signals that he will meet Kendall in front. Kendall turned her head back to her laptop and thought that riding an ATV was more interesting than being cooped up in a practice room and working on a sunny summer morning. So he closed the laptop and grabbed the phone, hoping David would take him to the tower.
Kendall hurried to lock the door, then slowed down and walked outside.
David gave her a big smile. "I thought maybe you wanted to take a walk to see the city."
"You mean there's nowhere other than this place?" kendall asked, making a gesture towards the two buildings and the P3K hut.
"Later on," David replied as he reached out to help Kendall board.
"You got a helmet?"
"We're going to the clinic first, close by."
Kendall sat on the back of David, hugging the man's waist loosely. David felt so familiar. And he looks dashing when he's in a shirt.
"How are you doing?" ask Kendall
"Lumayan," replied David lightly. "How are you?"
"I'm good" Kendall replied, suddenly realizing how few people had asked her how she was doing. He thinks everyone thinks doctors are fine all the time, in fact a doctor is also a human as in general. "But I had to take an icy bath this morning."
"While trying to deal with it" said David lightly. "It's sunny today, isn't it, Little Doctor Ma'am?" He started the engine and started running the ATV.
David's spirit is contagious. The morning of July was bright, the chirping of birds, the buzzing of insects and flowers blooming. Nature is so alive, giving the impression that every living thing is making love. There is a sensual impression on lush plants and moisture that makes the sultry. Cara comments about the atmosphere of the mountains that seduce in his way, in the mind of Kendall.
But his friend also said that it was a dreadful seduction.
Kendall grins. Is there some other kind of seduction?
As David promised, the trip to the place that had been set as the location of the clinic turned out only after a turn, a row with the canteen. It is seen that the workers clustered there running the machines and using shovels to make a trench as the foundation. Not far from there, another group of men were adding water to a cement mixer whose drum was spinning slowly.
After they got off the ATV, David took the blueprint (building design) from the storage box and spread it over the seat. "I know this clinic doesn't look very attractive right now, but it's going to be quick."
David pointed to the plan. "There will be waiting rooms, check rooms, handling rooms, laboratories, dispensaries, medicine rooms, staff offices, archive rooms, and small sitting rooms. Oh, and of course your practice room."
Kendall was impressed to see an efficient layout, but felt compelled to add, "Not my office, Mr. Booker. But this layout is good."
"David," corrects David. "This looks ahead of him" he said, pointing to the image of the finished building. For a multipurpose building size, the building looked simple and comfortable.
Kendall looked up and imagined the building. The clinic will be located in a natural bend full of plants. Nearby was a giant tree. It must be a beautiful workplace to come to every day. Kendall compared it to a family clinic she left in Denville, located in an abandoned shophouse.
"We put the clinic here because a few meters behind there is a plateau, which will accommodate a helipad for medical evacuation'"
They are forward-thinking, Kendall admits. He was impressed by the dedication of the workers. "You must recruit trained professionals to work in clinics, pharmacists, and at least one nurse."
"I heard one of your group's recruiters?"
"Gigi Hadid" Kendall said.
"We will work with Ms. Hadid to spread the word about the work we can't fulfill from the current conditions, but I hope you can help us start our certification and license to operate." David rolled up the blueprint and returned it to the storage box, then took out the map. "I have federal guidelines to get started, and the forms."
Kendall. He underestimated the Booker brothers. And how could they know that he dreamed of being part of this type of hospital since graduating from medical school? "I'll do what I can while I'm here."
David's wide smile made Kendall feel a sensation that is difficult to explain. The sensation shook him, like the path to Happiness, which ended abruptly.
"Ready going around?" ask David
"Can you take me to the tower first so I can call?"
The journey to the top of the mountain is really refreshing. Kendall closed her eyes and inhaled the scent of mountain laurel that David showed yesterday. Two rabbits jumped into their path and continued to leap forward, before disappearing into the bushes.
Upon arriving at the foot of the tower, Kendall got off the ATV, gave crutches to David, and walked up the stairs. He jumped to reach the first rung of the ladder, insisting that he did not enjoy being pushed by David from below.
But he really enjoyed it, damn it. And it feels ridiculous, considering the man might do it without a second thought.
The trip to the top is more fun than yesterday, because Kendall is more relaxed, has more time to enjoy the scenery. Upon arriving at the court, he enjoyed a stunning view of emerald and purple before pulling out a cell phone to check e-mail and voicemail. It turned out that nothing, the reality he received with a sting of loneliness. Then he called Doctor Amanda's office, relieved when her supervisor answered, and pleased that she seemed happy to receive his call.
"What's the situation in the countryside, baby?"
"Hmm. different," said Kendall, trying to sound carefree.
"What did you say was the name of the place?"
"Happiness. Happiness, Carolina."
"Sounds old and beautiful."
"That's it," Kendall agreed.
"We miss you here."
*Kendall was looking for an idea to tell Dr. Amanda that she was going back to Denville, but decided not to. It would be difficult to attract other medical professionals to Happiness if he himself claimed to be leaving. "I miss the atmosphere there." said Kendall at last. " Not much 'action*' (patient handling)."
"It sounds like a vacation. I'm envious."
"By the way, do you know any doctors who might be willing to come here and help run the new clinic? They need doctor assistants, nurses, and certified midwives."
"I'll make an announcement" said Dr Amanda. "Do you have the address of the place?"
"Nothing to me" said Kendall hesitatingly. It feels bad to say that the city does not yet have a zip code, so he gave Dr. Amanda a basic guide from the nearest interstate main road and told her that she found someone interested in those positions, so she could call him.
"How's the view?" ask Dr. Amanda in a voice.
"Beautiful," Kendall replied as she frowned slightly.
"I mean the men over there. I also read the advertisement in the paper."
Kendall's face flushed. Amanda's doctor has known her ex-fiance since the man often stopped by the practice to pick up Kendall for lunch or flowers.
"I haven't noticed yet" said Kendall cheerfully.
"So your ex-fiancee came here" said Doctor Amanda, her voice shriveled.
Kendall pounding. "Oh?"
"She and her new boyfriend came to check the blood."
For their marriage certificate, where everyone knows him. Kendall's chest felt tight and her eyes glazed over.
"I'm so sorry, Kendall. I used to think he was a good guy, but now it's clear he's lost his mind."
Kendall can't talk. How many more blows can he withstand?
