New Happiness, Begins

New Happiness, Begins
The Part 54

And his heart ached because of the fact that David didn't feel the same way.

Kendall closed her eyes for a moment. The fact that David doesn't feel the same way... Isn't that the only answer I need? thought Kendall.

He took the contract and dropped it in the trash next to the writing desk. Then he busied himself putting the remaining supplies of drugs in the practice temporarily to the cardboard to be transferred to the clinic. His heart thump grew faster when he heard the shower tap shut. Kendall was afraid to have a conversation with Daniel, but she knew they needed to talk.

The bathroom door opened and Kendall turned her head, stunned to see Daniel standing there clad in a towel around her waist. His figure was smaller than David's, but tennis kept him slim. Daniel is an interesting guy.

An attractive man who betrayed him.

"All is well?" ask Kendall cheerfully.

"Is there hot water on this mountain?"

"Very rare, sorry."

Daniel's gaze became cloudy. "But it's okay, after seeing you again I do need a cold shower."

Suddenly Daniel was standing in front of him.

"Kendall."

Kendall's heart is beating. He missed Daniel too. Lonely nights curled up, weeping and sleeping in socks, without the man warming his feet, the fisherman thought of what was wrong and why he did not smell the change of Daniel.

"Why did you do all that?" tanyanya.

"Why would you do that?"

Daniel shakes. "Eitherway. I wasn't thinking straight, but now I am. I love you, and I'm sorry for what I did to you."

Kendall observed Daniel's expression and saw sincere regret. Her heart softened, wondering if most of the engaged men panicked and did stupid things that they later regretted.

Isn't the engagement a time to prove each other, a trial period? That is, they are not married and the man did not break the marriage vow.

"Let's go home" said Daniel, his voice hoarse and pleading. "I'll fix everything. Better than before. I promise."

Daniel reached out to grab her, but Kendall retreated, trying to put her mind to work. "I need time to think, Daniel."

"All right," said Daniel. "Think about it carefully. Can I stay with you, at least tonight?"

Kendall shakes. "Men cannot stay overnight in the dorm. You should stay in the men's barracks."

Daniel's face paled. "O.K." Yeah.kZ."

But the truth is Kendall is reluctant to re-discuss everything all night if they're just the two of them. Then he remembered the announcement on the kitchen board. "We've got a movie together downstairs tonight."

"It looks interesting." said Daniel. At that time Kendall realized that Daniel was really trying, because as she remembered watching a movie together at night was not something that the man liked.

Daniel took his hand. "You still love me, Kendall?"

Kendall swallowed the saliva with great difficulty. A quick knock behind the door saved him so there was no need to answer the question. The door opened and David Booker stuck his head and shoulders in. The guy really likes to pick out weird moments.

Kendall's neck is flushed.

"Oh, sorry to interrupt" said David. However, he did not move a bit.

"You have to?" daniel asked, clearly upset by the disturbance.

David glaring. "Yes. I need to talk to our city doctor. That's why I came to his practice."

Kendall put her lips together. It seems that David forgot that the two of them had been almost in love at his practice.

"Daniel," said Kendall calmly. "can you give us a moment to talk?"

Daniel returns to the bathroom, but glances at David before closing the door.

With blood rustling, Kendall turned towards David and exhaled. "Is something wrong?"

David opened the door wider and entered on crutches, then sat down on a chair next to Kendall's desk. He patted a cast that splashed with mud. "My feet hurt."

Kendall folded her hands. "Maybe you better not ride the ATV first."

David smiled broadly, confirming Kendall's suspicion that the "pain" was not serious. "But riding the ATV was exciting."

"so yeah. You got a reason to terrorize Daniel?"

"No. I didn't know he was your ex-fiance."

David's attention was fixed on the trash can next to Kendall's desk. He advances the body, grabs inward and takes the contract of labor. David was silent as he looked at the underside of the contract that was not signed. "So you're really going?"

Kendall was agitated, while her emotions raged. To strengthen himself, he recalls how cold David treated him in the morning after their terrible romance night at the hotel. "really. It shouldn't be surprising."

David nodded slowly, then threw the contract back into the trash. "You're right." He grabbed the crutches and stood up. "I'm not surprised. From the first moment I saw you, I knew you didn't have what it takes to live here."

Kendall gasped at the scathing statement, waiting for David to laugh, saying it was just a joke and wishing him good luck. No, the man was limping out and down the corridor, his crutches pounding.

With hurt and confused feelings. Kendall went into the corridor. "I thought your leg hurt!" his yell.

"I'm mistaken" cried David over his shoulder.

"David..wait."

David stopped and turned his head, his expression unreadable. Kendall darted back inside and snatched from the backrest of the soft denim shirt chair that David gave her. He lifted her up near his nose and lips to inhale the smell of his earth once more, then walked out of the practice and climbed the corridor to where David had stopped. "Here, take back your shirt."

David stared at the shirt for a few seconds. Kendall wonders if the man remembers ever giving the shirt to her and suddenly feels silly.

Then David reached out to pick it up, then attached it to one of the shoulders and limped away without speaking.
