"Just go in" said David.
Kendall turned the knob and pushed the door open. David's bed lay for about two days turned out to be empty. Straight in front, the bathroom door opens. David stood leaning against the sink, shirtless, shaving with a disposable knife. Her hair and skin are wet. "I asked Harry to bring me a change of clothes and toiletries so I could at least take a shower."
Kendall's heart beat soared to see David's dark-colored shoulders and chest hair. "Your skin has grown brown" he said to cover up the fact that he was staring. "But you still have to rest. Where's Hailey?"
"It's gone" David answered briefly, then picked up a towel to wipe his jaw. He turned his body towards Kendall. "Listen, Kendall. I'm sorry for what happened the other day in your practice room."
Kendall's cheeks are blushing. "no need. I let it go too far."
David frowned. "I'm sorry for the interruption."
Kendall gulped with difficulty, overrun with sensual memories. "As I said, there's no need to apologize. We better forget about that."
"But..."
"David," cut Kendall, restless because her body was still passionate because of the man. "Don't take it anymore, okay?"
David turned his gaze. "All right." He put a towel on the side of the sink. "How was your trip?"
"Fun," answered Kendall lightly. "My former boss seems to have found my replacement, so I have to urge you to get my car repaired as soon as possible."
David's expression was illegible. "I promise I'll take care of it soon."
"You said it like that" Kendall added.
David clenched his jaw, then nodded. "This time I mean it." He took out a thin, soft shirt from a hanger, then put it on without buttoning the front, showing off a flat stomach. He grabbed the crutches, then went back to the bed and sat on the side. "So, when did your replacement arrive?"
"Of course." Kendall took out a piece of paper from her pocket and gave it to David. "I told my ex-boss that I'd give the doctor's contact information to you and your brother."
David took the paper. "Your replacement is a man?"
Kendall nodded. "Maybe that's best for now."
David did not reply, just tucking the paper into the pocket of the shirt.
"Oh, I also found this, too" Kendall said, taking out a ring she had found and lifting it so David could see.
David's face paled. He took the ring and Kendall saw her hands trembling. "You found it in the tower?"
"Yes, not far from where I found my pocket watch. Do you think it was carried there by the storm?"
David nodded while flipping through the ring. "It must be because of that."
"You think Molly can find the owner?"
"No need," David said as he looked at Kendall with his dazzling hazel eyes. "It's my mother's wedding ring."
Kendall gawking. "You kidding me?"
"No. He took it off shortly before the storm and was carried away flying with all our other possessions. He cried for days, then resignedly will not see him again." David exhaled noisily, clearly moved. "Thank you."
Kendall's tongue was almost twisted in disbelief, and the feeling of being moved by the discovery made her uncomfortable. He held his hands on his body. "Either. But I didn't do anything about it. It just lay under the ATV's tires."
David grasped the ring and suddenly his face was adorned with a bright smile. "Let's go with me to Atlanta."
Kendall. "What?"
"Let's go with me to Atlanta. Someone has to buy supplies for the clinic and you're the right person."
Kendall thought of David's invitation. It's a golden opportunity to look around the city. "Only if you make an appointment to see an orthopedic doctor to ensure the recovery of your limbs."
David hesitated, then nodded. "Agreed."
Hesitating again, nodding again. "agree. And on the way we stopped by my mother's house to give me this ring."
Panic flooded Kendall's chest. "When you stay at your mom's?"
"We must have passed. After all, he'd want to meet and thank you personally because you found the ring."
Kendall bit her lip. Maybe he refused! After all, after they returned with supplies of medicine and replacement parts for his car, he could leave Happiness forever. "I don't think it's a problem."
David smiled broadly. "good. I'll book a hotel room."
Kendall's heart is pounding. "Hotel?"
"Given the large number of items on the list, we should stay there."
Kendall gulps. "The room is separate" he said firmly.
"The room is separate," David agreed, his hazel eyes are serious.
"Obviously" said Kendall, nodding.
"Surely," said David, nodding as well.

"I don't like it" said Harry, then pointed to a computer screen on the desk displaying a loss statement. "The last shopping trip to Atlanta almost bankrupted us!"
"Harry, try to be logical" David persuaded. "We still have plenty of opportunities to pay the planned fees and the clinic is useless without basic equipment."
"If you want to be alone with Doctor Jenner, there's no need to make up excuses."
David's curls are growing deeper. "I'm not making up excuses. I have to go to Atlanta to see an orthopedic doctor. And the sooner we have a supply of drugs, the sooner we can also ask to be examined to be declared worthy of the status of the Federal Health Clinic. And don't you want Mom to take her wedding ring!"
"Of course I want to" said Harry.
David did not like to see her expression. "He's already planning to leave, so what other danger can I cause?"
Harry raised an eyebrow. "You may call me old-fashioned, but since we're keeping that good doctor here with a pretence, I feel responsible."
David glaring. "Have you contacted a doctor who wanted to replace him?"
Harry held up the paper that David had given him. "It's on my list today. With a thousand other things."
"What if you delay first?"
"You're going to convince the woman's doctor to stay? You got another gun on hand?" Harry frowned. "Or somewhere else?"
"No. I mean, yeah, I'm gonna try to convince him to stay. By talking about our plans for this town and the role he can take on in it."
Harry was doubtful. "OK.work on."
"So I can shop for medicine supplies?"
Harry checked the report that David had given him and sighed. "Only items that have been marked 'important'. I hope you won't go crazy."
"Beres," said David, relieved. Kendall wouldn't want to go to Atlanta if they had no other reason. And despite being stated otherwise, he is eager to be alone with Kendall.
"When are you guys leaving?" harry asked, breaking David's mind.
"Kendall made me an appointment with an orthopedic doctor tomorrow afternoon" David replied. "I thought we were going to leave in the morning and stop by to see Mom, then drive to town to see a doctor and spend the night there. I'll rent a truck and buy supplies before I get home tomorrow."
