The Part 13

David smiled and, growing handsome.

The reason why David took her was unimportant, Kendall's mind was walking downstairs. Over the next few hours he'll pretend David has seen something no other man has ever seen in him.

"Ready?" ask David

"Yeah" Kendall replied

David noticed the existence of the slender woman walking beside him and tried to imagine how this place was in the woman's eyes. The night was typical of a beautiful Northern night, stained with the smell of grass that was cut and the hum of insects.

Doctor Jenner sneezed, then hit something in the neck.

David frowning. "May God bless." Then take a clean handkerchief in the pants pocket, give it to Kendall.

"Thank you" said Kendall, then wiped her nose.

"Why do the Northmen say such a thing?"

"Say what?"

"May God bless, after someone sneezes."

David laughing. "Is it Northern culture?"

Then he shrugged his shoulders. "I never thought about it. Not to offend you."

"You don't offend me. I was just wondering how different people are, and how different customs are in each country."

Kendall seems to be keeping her distance. Little Doctor Mom sounded lonely. "Do you have a family in Denville?"

"No."

"In other states?"

"No."

Orphaned, inner David. "Sorry."

"It's not your fault" Kendall murmured. "I'm an only child. My dad died when I was a kid and my mom followed me when I was in high school. But I was at baby."

David's chest tight. This woman is fighting through everything herself, awesome. "Even though my brother and I fight a lot, I can't imagine a world without his presence."

"You're lucky to have each other. Your parents are alive?"

"Dad's been dead a long time. But Mom is still freshly fit, she lives with her brother."

"You grew up there?"

David stopped and blinked looking at Kendall in the dimness. "You don't know?"

"Know what?"

"The happiness that my brother and I grew up in. A storm destroyed this city ten years ago."

The moonlight illuminated Kendall's face just as her eyes widened. "That's why you're rebuilding this city. This place.your house."

There was something in Kendall's tone of voice, she sounded amazed. David's thump choked, "Be.really."

"I decided to join the group that came at the last moment. I don't think I've had time to read all the information."

Doctor Jenner doesn't seem like the kind of woman who likes to make decisions at the last minute. Someone must have pushed him to do that. Loss of a job, a confiscated house, or a painful breakup?

The hasty travel also explains why most women come with a suitcase and a personal item, while Doctor Jenner comes with only two small suitcases. Luckily for him, Kendall was more concerned with carrying a portable X-ray machine than an extra suitcase filled with high heels.

The woman was not like the type who had a full closet of high heels.

David put his lips together. So Kendall is not his type at all. He likes things smelling women, high heels, fishnet stockings, cleavage, long hair, perfume, painted nails, jewelry...

"The materials used to build the dormitory were taken from the ruins of the former storm?"

Kendall's question breaks David's daydream. "really. We want to build the economy of this city from recycling. There are still many piles of ruins on this mountain, and we plan to save as many as we can."

Kendall did not reply, as busy as she was with her own thoughts.

"This trail is lined with rubber tins from recycled tires" David added, suddenly feeling the urge to impress the woman. "The lights along this road are solar powered. And the road you're walking on is paved with recycled material. Satisfying the feeling of rebuilding this city using pieces of its history."

David immediately braked, not intending to be poetic. Doctor Jenner responded politely, but David felt the woman was bored. Then he realized that maybe the doctor didn't really care about his big plan for the city of Happiness, because he planned to leave tomorrow morning.

They arrived at the top of the hill whose right left was overgrown with trees and a meadow stretched out in front of them. There used to be a lot of buildings standing there. The extreme storm had already leveled this place so fiercely.

The barbecue party was held in a place as big as a football field surrounded by torches. The rows of wooden tables and benches extend from end to end. A giant smoke-puffing grill is located on one side giving off a tantalizing smell of meat. Country music is heard from a pair of loudspeakers. Everything you need for the party is available.

The Happiness man who won the sum of two to one, stood to one side and nodded as if he was planning a secret mission. And women gather on opposite sides, as if trying to decide whether to put up a fight.

The women looked unhappy, and from the body language of their leader seemed to be telling Harry the reason.

But how sexy Hailey Baldwin's body is. He stood up while holding the little dog with one hand and explained with the other. His brownish limbs looked tantalizing. David had a look, but then reminded himself that being friendly to Little Doctor Mom was for the greater good. The military has taught him to sacrifice himself.

"Let's start partying," cried David cutting.

Hailey's expression softened. "David. You came too."

"Under the supervision of the doctor" said David, bowing to Doctor Jenner, who was left behind.

Hailey looked at Doctor Jenner suspiciously, then turned her attention back to Harry. "So... What are you going to do?"

"We're facing some problems" Harry told David.

David almost feels sorry for his brother, Harry really does suck when dealing with women. "For example?"

"For example women are bitten by mosquitoes" Hailey said, shaking her head, she was used to her wishes being fulfilled.

"Harry will prepare insect spray" David said. "You guys see? Problem solved. Let's tighten up the music and get everyone dancing."

Hailey's pretty nose frowned. "We don't like this music."

David's smile disappeared. "You don't like country music?" He's stunned. This could be a problem. But he tried to stay cheerful.

Hailey's brandishing her iPod. "There's a device that can play this in your sound system? I have a collection of Lady Gaga songs."

"Harry will check it out for you" David calmed the woman down. "I know everyone must be hungry, just wait until you taste Master King's ribs."

Hailey folded her beautiful long arms, involuntarily accentuating her cleavage. "I hope you guys have something on the grill besides meat. At least half of us are vegetarians."

Harry looked at her with a gaze that seemed to say, "Well, what now?"

David looked up at the sky, seconds later, the rain was pouring out the torch and made the women run for shade while screaming, slips and slips in the mud that soon forms when water meets red soil.

A tiny hand touched his arm. David turned his head and found Doctor Jenner standing next to him, soaking wet. "Let me help you get back on the trail!" his screams beat the sound of rain.

David was glued and his tongue was twisted. Kendall's brown eyes look bigger on her well-boned face. His white shirt became translucent, accentuating his slender curves. Little Doctor Mom turns out.
