The Degree

The Degree
Degree

“Degree ... what is it?”

“Perhaps a new kind of technology?”

“What do not-do it food?”

“Can't be food, stupid.”

“Maybe it was a great object created by a genius.”

The participants began to talk between them. The questions and assumptions of each began to be called upon. The man— Secret just kept quiet and listened to the various assumptions that emerged from the participants. Until someone dared to talk to him.

“Can't you explain it directly and stop listening?” The man with blonde hair showed his displeasure and said a little angrily.

“Then, we will start with this first. First you hand over the invitation you get to the officers who will approach you. This is to prevent counterfeiting or the like. Then, we'll inject you with the liquid we developed. That is the Degree you will have later.”

A door opened and thousands of robots with human stature began to come out and approach the participants one by one. Ray handed over the invitation he had, instead he received an injection with a strange glowing liquid.

Ray was a little suspicious but after seeing someone else accept him without any effect he immediately turned himself in. There was no change after the injection. The robot on duty then pairs a clock that is very difficult, even impossible to remove except by cutting his own hand.

After everyone finished it, Secret started talking.

“No intruders. There's no peculiarity. Thank you for cooperating and staying conducive.” Secret nodded after looking at his hologram screen and resumed his explanation.

“We just gave you the serum we developed, Serum D. It is that serum that will help humans evolve and bless humans with the abilities we call, Degree.”

A degree is a title or nickname for a particular individual and will bless that individual. For example, if a person receives the title "Regeneration" then the individual will be able to grow a severed part of his body and his strength cannot be stopped in any way.

No matter what degree a person gets, the degree will have abilities that reflect the Degree earned by the individual as exemplified.

“So for example, if I receive a Degree of "Spider Man" then I can do whatever the spider does? Like walking on a wall and shooting yarn like in a movie?!”

Secret nodded lightly to the question, “Yes, you will be able to do it. The degree that you are able to follow will follow certain characteristics that reflect you or that you have been striving for and yearning for. We can't intervene with what kind of degree you're going to get. For example, it could be that someone gets a Degree "Einstein" then that person will have the same level of intelligence or higher than him.”

The degree is not grandiose about the strengths and characteristics of animals or certain abilities. An important part of the Degree is to give birth to people with degrees important for the world era, for example, the Degree related to science.

With the Degree, a person can be very smart without learning, even very strong without training his body. It was truly an extremely extraordinary creation surpassing Artificial Intelligence.

This discovery will definitely help humans to evolve and head into a future far from the human shadow.

“It's like something you'll find in a science fiction story.” Terumi muttered and looked a little scared, she placed her right hand on her chest.

“You must think this isn't real, it's just engineering and fraud. We will make it clear that this is the reality. We managed to make it but have no idea how far the Degree can go. Therefore, we invite you as guinea pigs to find out how far the degree.” reaches

“So those of us who received the invitation are the subjects of the experiment.” Ray drew his conclusion.

“Yes, even so this does not hurt you in many ways. Precisely this benefits you.”

Serum D has a limited number and if it comes time to circulate, there will only be a handful of people who are able to have it. In addition to the amount of course the price will be sky high because from the words of Secret, they have started this trial for a long time and spent quite a lot of money.

“Not only receive Strength like a fantasy, but you who receive Serum D, without exception, will get an extension of life.”

Without exception, all participants were surprised not to play because of these words. Even Ray raised his eyebrows with the shock he had just given.

“As breathing living beings, we are feared by a ghost named death. Generally humans will not be able to live more than a hundred years. Even if there is a way to make us live that long, it will be painful because the body is no longer young and brittle wrinkles. For that reason Serum D is present.”

Serum D not only provides a Degree, but also helps humans live long and still look young even though they are seventies years old.

What kind of person would not be interested in using Serum D? If it had been marketed then there was no doubt that Secret would become a God in this world.

“Excellent, right? You are ten thousand lucky people for being able to receive this longevity herb.” Secret spread out his two hands again in a slightly carefree tone.

Each participant shouted and felt excited, of course, there were parties who did not immediately believe and suspected the truth as well as Ray.

Ray did not deny such a serum could be created but he clearly denied that Serum D looked a hundred or a few hundred years faster.

Until now, humans are still trying to develop artificial intelligence and create tools at the speed of light. Ray's assumption is that something like Serum D will probably be created when humans are already at the stage of creating light-speed vehicles.

“So, how do we know the Degree we have?” The blonde man previously asked seriously.

“Easy only. You just need to access the watch we gave you. How to access it we do not need to tell because you will not be familiar with it.”

Ray turns on his watch and an ipad-wide hologram appears. Indeed, the way of operation is very easy for those who are familiar with android and modern technology. After all in this age there will be no one who does not understand how to use it.

“Excuse me, I don't understand how!” A girl's voice echoed.

... It seems like there are indeed gaptek people in this age.

As everyone accessed the clock and identified the Degree they had, Secret once again conveyed.

“Although we made the watch, you don't have to worry. We will not know what kind of Degree you have and your confidentiality will be maintained only on you.”

Ray's hand accessing the Degree came to a halt because of those words.

If there is no oversight of the Degree that we have, how will they cope if there is a rebellion? It's freaky. Her thought.

For some reason Ray believes that there is an implied meaning of every word that is spoken Secret. Surely the goal is not just to give Serum D for free, there should be a symbiotic relationship with each other.

Checking the Degree he had, Ray furrowed his brows. He had absolutely no idea what the meaning of his Degree was at all. For the time being he would try to confirm the other's possession of whether only he got a unique Degree.

“Ray, Leo, what do you get?” Terumi approached him cheerfully.

Leo scratched his head with a troubled, “I get a Sleeping Lion Degree. It was strange but it seemed to suit me. Then, you?”

Terumi smiled wryly and was a little reluctant to say it, “Yes, this is embarrassing. My degree is, Culture Fanatic.”

“Pft! What kind of degree is it!” Leo laughed a little when he heard it

Previously he admitted that he liked Indonesian culture but Ray did not expect to reach it to the point of fanatics. It is not a bad thing but there are no good things coming from fanatics although not much influence whatsoever.

That may sound useless in many prospects other than something culturally related. However no one knew whether it was really useful or not because even the maker did not know how far the Degree limit was.

Briefly meaning, culture is a pattern of behavior or something that is passed down through generations. Culture is not always traditional clothes, musical instruments and dance, but there are other things included in the category of culture.

“What about you, Ray? What Degree is yours.” Terumi diverts her conversation so that she does not continue to be ridiculed by Leo.

Ray was a little quiet and didn't know what to do. In this case, his Degree should be kept secret because no one knows what will be in the future. Moreover, the purpose of Secret offering Serum D was definitely not to make fun.

“You must have checked the Degree you have. I'm sure there are disappointed and dissatisfied but whatever degree you get is a picture of yourself. If you do not receive the Degree then it means you do not accept yourself.” Secret said so because he realized people who looked disappointed.

Hearing this slightly reduced their disappointment but only slightly.

“Hey, if this is done when can I come out and show my strength to the people outside?” The same blonde man earlier asked.

“Exit? Who said it, we didn't say anyone could get out.”

“Hah? You're kidding, do you mean to lock us up here?!”

“We never wrote that anyone who came could just come back. We only invite to come and do not drive home.”

“He did not mention anything about it in his letter.” Ray remembered very well about the contents of his letter.

Terumi was surprised instead of playing and closing her mouth, “That means ... we will never get out of this place?”
