The Degree

The Degree
Virgo Sergeants

Everyone pondered over Leo's words carefully. Some started crying knowing they had to leave their colleagues.

Leo also emphasized that bringing the wounded with them increases the chances of death. In addition, the higher-ups will only provide assistance tools only and do not participate in taking care of it.

“I have to take it or leave it? If I take him, I could be the one who died.”

“It's very painful. The choice is cruel but this is a risk that we bear ourselves.”

Surely this is a painful thing for those who have acquaintances severely injured.

Leo did not understand what they were saying or complaining about, he simply left them and ordered his preparations immediately.

The car is certainly ready and ready to transport many people but the big risk is the ambush of other parties.

Elsewhere Arthur has prepared a special car that will be used by other officials. The car is a little different because it can only accommodate a few people and is smaller in size.

More than thirty minutes had passed since Leo's warning and everything was ready. Arthur took the initiative to drive because he had experience with it.

No one refused because neither Leo, Terumi nor Mona ever drove a four-wheeled vehicle. In this world, manual vehicles are rarely useful because of the existence of AI that usually drives them personally.

“This is my first time driving a car that still uses oil. Well, I'm sure it's the same as riding a bike.” Arthur nodded his head as he spoke to himself.

Hearing what Arthur said made Terumi and Mona look at him with fear. Eventually Arthur said he had experience driving a car but what he had just said made him unconvincing.

“Wait, you can really do it, right, Arthur? You didn't say it just because you wanted to look cool, did you?” Terumi asked, she clearly looked very agitated.

At this stage accidents due to carelessness are more painful than confronting Rebellion.

“Take it easy. Even if I've never driven a car like this, at least I know the theory.” Arthur smiled and gave his thumbs up confidently.

At that time Mona also jerked her cheeks in annoyance, “If you make the slightest mistake, I will kill you!”

“Even if you pinch me every day, instead of being sick or resentful, I feel even closer to you.” Arthur held Mona's hand gently, causing her to melt and remain silent as her face was red as a tomato.

None of them tried to say anything about the incident. Ray himself was silent while watching, he did not know what to say.

“Wait! Miss, don't leave us!”

“Are you guys going to abandon us?! After everything we gave?”

“No, I don't want to die!”

As they intend to go the wounded who are left go out to beg to be invited. Both Terumi, Arthur and their troops bit her lip. Some even started crying because they could not endure the pain in their hearts.

Orders who were in separate cars and lying weak could only cover their ears. He really didn't want to hear it at all. The Order understood clearly that this decision was the most correct.

Back with as many people as possible, it is a top priority right now.

“Let's go!” Arthur gasped immediately for fear that the men would start crawling up to the car. Moreover, he could not bear their lamentation.

“Sial! My head is bumped, next time do it more gently!” Leo cursed with annoyance because he was in the back seat that has a narrow place.

“I'm lucky not to be with you.” Ray muttered with relief, supposing Terumi did not take the initiative to sit behind maybe Ray would suffer the same fate.

“Fu fu, you can put your head on my chest, Ray. It won't hurt and will be a fun experience.” Erina held onto her chest while smiling mischievously.

Ray said nothing while throwing his face away. The offer may be quite attractive but Ray will not be able to calm down with a murderous gaze from the woman behind him.

Following their car, the other cars the union members drove followed. Although Ray and Erina had suggested they move apart, Arthur's determination did not cause it.

“We are from the same place and must arrive at the same place,” so he said to convince Ray and Erina.

Although he says it with a heavy heart given that there are people left behind, Arthur is forced to do so to prevent further debate.

“How long does our estimate arrive at the nearest Shelter?” ray asked while peeking back, he found that there were other cars that did not belong to Redwest or Blueeast.

“Slowly twenty minutes should we go unimpeded at this speed!” Arthur conveys.

That only applies if they do not get any obstacles on the way. Surely all will not surf it. In addition to the track that is not easy, the pursuers have also been seen and the biggest fear of battle will break out.

“We must split up and make efforts to inhibit them.” Ray suggested, he immediately looked at Erina and relayed a message through her eyes.

“Leo, use red signal!” Erina gave the order while understanding Ray's intentions.

Leo nodded and lit a red smoke then waved his hand. The members of Blueeast and Redwest looked at him and began to loudly exclaim.

“A RUNAWAY!”

A meaningful escape is a signal to split but stay on the same goal. This is a step that has great risk but is very effective.

That effectiveness will increase now because of Ray's plan.

“Leo, throw the gasoline on a tree or a thick plain. Then Terumi, you try to burn it. Using a gun will only throw away valuable bullets so do with this.” Ray took out a match from his pocket and handed it over.

Terumi and Leo seemed hesitant to do so but it only took a matter of seconds for them to solidify their resolve.

“Wait!”

The screams stopped both. They looked at the person who was shouting with a little annoyance given the urgent situation.

“What's up? Quickly say it clearly!”

“We still don't know where Mein is! He is not in any car and may still be around the forest!” Erina looked worried and looked at the quiet-looking forest, “If everything were to burn, she would die!”

Erina could not accept the fact that Mein died by the actions of her own comrades. It would be easier for him to accept that Mein had been dead since before the forest burned.

But in reality there was no news of the girl so her anxiety was unstoppable.

Inevitably Ray must make up a lie that may look bad and very obvious.

“Erina. Mein is strong and smart, she won't–” Ray didn't finish his sentence.

“REDUCED!” Arthur suddenly shouted loudly without any warning.

Without even trying to see what happened, Ray encourages Erina to duck, as well as Leo acting similarly to make Mona duck due to her slow reflexes. To Terumi, he seemed to have been trained so that he could move quickly and lowered his head.

A few seconds after the warning a hail of bullets shot at them. The windshield broke and several bullets shot the machine.

“Everything out of here!” Ray shouted, he opened the door and took Erina out of the car. In the process the wound on his right hand hurt and slightly opened the seams. There is no time to complain, though.

The others came out at the same time. The car that continued to run without a driver slowly let out black smoke and exploded. Not getting there, the gasoline that should be used to burn the forest also burned and caused the explosion is not small.

The explosion was large enough to burn the forest carelessly.

“Sial! They ambushed us!” Leo cursed when he saw some people running from behind the trees.

It seemed clear that Rebellion had already realized that the great union alliance would escape right after the task was reported. They act fast and block roads or spread people around.

“You guys really look pathetic, my friends, or should I say, my former friends?”

Hearing that voice made everyone grit their teeth angrily. The heavy voice raspy from an old man who was certainly no stranger to them. He was a cold-blooded traitor.

“Sebastian!” Leo extended his nails and was ready to jump at him but Arthur immediately stopped him, “Now what?!” Leo raised his voice in anger.

“Look carefully around you! This motherfucker is not alone.” Other than the soldiers who betrayed Sebastian, there are others still hiding behind him, “You can get out of there!”

Following Arthur's words, one man who hid himself behind the trees came out. That person had a mask that covered the entire face and head, his clothes looked thick so it was difficult to ascertain his genitals.

“It seems that this costume is indeed too flashy because of this blue light.” His voice sounded mocking and the person casually raised his hand, “Yo, long time no see all of you. We do not know each other directly but both parties have hated each other since the first meeting.”

That person said casually even though his tone was a little strong. Even if he uses a device to turn his voice into a robot, it doesn't seem to be great enough to get rid of emotions.

“Hahaha! How dare you show up after all the mess you made, Virgo!” Arthur laughed dryly as he prepared his gun and knife.

Ray also wants to take out his weapon but it is unfortunate that he has a need to keep Erina who still can not walk.

“At first I didn't intend to do it but the woman you saved is still alive. I can't let a rat keep on wandering around. If you want to hand it over then the others I'll let go.” Virgo turned his head towards Mona who was now hiding behind Terumi.

The woman is obviously very afraid of Virgo for some reason. The first is Mona knows how Virgo is able to pinpoint dangerous people, while the second. The reason Virgo can't let go is because of Mona's Degree.

“Ho? Even you're afraid your degree will be revealed. If that's the case there's more reason for me not to let you get close to him.”

From the beginning Arthur had absolutely no intention of giving Mona to anyone because he knew how important Mona was. Maybe many people have degrees similar to him but Arthur is very sure no one has exactly like Mona.

That reason is enough to be a strong argument for not letting Mona fall into Virgo's hands.

Virgo shook his head, “After seeing all this you are still stubborn. I hate stubborn people. It seems like it was a mistake not to kill this woman since the beginning.”

Virgo reveals just confirmed Degree Mona is actually very useful and bothers him after what happened to Sebastian.

“I really feel stupid for setting the boundaries of one's Degree. In fact, the creator made a trial to find out the limits. Who would have ever thought that Analysis would be such a bitch.”

Arthur smiled to provoke his opponent, “You only look at him one eye and do not imagine that the girl you underestimate, will be a troublesome enemy for you.”

Ray who heard their conversation indirectly understood it. The reason Mona can find out the Sebastian Degree right on target is because she has an Analysis Degree.

Somehow the way it works is definitely related to when someone uses a Degree right in front of Mona. When termed, using the Degree in front of Mona is the same as someone revealing his secret blatantly.

Fortunately Ray never did any action in front of Mona because there is a possibility that the female Degree can know the movements.

Analysis, yes. I can't underestimate it because the Virgo who did it feels sorry. The man had clearly stepped on a mine that he had seen and knew where it was. Thought Ray.

“You know provocation will only make your situation worse?” Virgo asked coldly, “This is my last offer. Give the woman then the rest will reach to the Shelter safely? Or die here because it burns, it could even die because of an explosion.”

Erina, Ray, Leo and Terumi, even Mona didn't say a word. They want to do it but somehow everyone realizes that it is better to let Arthur answer.

After all without any discussion all of them had clearly the same answer.

“What if this is? We're not gonna give Mona and we're gonna take you to hell there?”

Sebastian looks disappointed and pulls out a small knife and gun from his sleeve. The old man started to attack. His actions also followed the soldiers who were around them.

Virgo shook his head again, his movements as if he was looking directly at Arthur from eye to eye.

“So that means you give rejection?”

“Better burn yourself than approve.” Arthur gave a quick answer.

“Then you will fight me to the end and die?”

“If that means giving a lot of trouble to you then of course.” And, another quick answer.

“Huh, very unfortunate. I originally wanted to let you live because it was fun but whatever. Kill–” Virgo was about to order his men but he stopped him.

Virgo realizes that someone else is coming from another direction. The person was alone, passing through the burning flames as if it was not something troublesome.

His face looked completely angry and he was holding onto his stomach whose clothes had patches of blood.

“How dare you try to get close to my sister and friend, after everything you've done, Sebastian!”

The man was an Order who really looked wrathful. The Order was clearly ready to fight even if it meant death.
