The Part 20
Matteo could not seem to hide his surprise, until his pair of eyes appeared to be rounded, and revealed his bright green irises clearly.
"You mean? Now it's the middle of the month" said Matteo, who appeared to be furrowing his brows deeply.
"I'm sorry ... I don't know how hard you've been through working with Matthew, but don't you want to think about it anymore?" matteo.
"Hm ... I've made my decision. In fact, I told Mister Matthew that I would definitely stop working for him" Chloe said.
"Actually, I don't want to make things difficult for Mister Matthew any longer. But, I've already received payment from Mister Nathan for this month....
... So I can't just stop. So, I asked Mister Matthew to be patient, until this month is over" Chloe continued.
"You're making Matthew difficult? You think I'd believe that? I already know how stubborn Matthew is," said Matteo, who looked annoyed.
Matteo seemed really unhappy with what he heard from Chloe, as if he might want to scold Matthew at this moment.
While Chloe, can only be silent, and does not want to be too open with the reason to choose to stop working, which may only add to the annoyance of Matteo to Matthew.
After a while later, and the two of them just fell silent, Matteo finally said,
"Did you just stop being Matthew's personal assistant? Or will you also stop being an assistant CEO?"
"both ... I don't want to upset Mister Matthew if he still sees me in the office" Chloe replied.
"Geez! ... Tskkk! Matthew, really...." Matteo stopped his words just like that, shaking his head.
"Then, do you have any plans where you'll work?" matteo asked, who then looked at Chloe fixedly.
"I'm sorry ... I don't want to underestimate your abilities. But, ... do you want to be my personal assistant? I want to keep seeing you" Matteo continued hurriedly, and sounded hopeful.
Chloe smiled, then said,
"Your offer is interesting. But I can't immediately accept it. I still have to consider it first."
"Come on...! Working with me won't be too exhausting. You can even sell my autograph, as you please," Matteo said, then smiled broadly, and looked almost laughing.
Chloe laughed as she covered her mouth with the back of her hand. "What are you talking about?"
"I was just kidding ... But I sincerely ask you to work with me only. I think it would be nice if you could be by my side....
... Help me work, and be my friend. Especially in this country, which is foreign to me," said Matteo.
"Hm ... In fact, your music is no stranger to this country," Chloe said, smiling.
"Please think about my offer! Before you choose to work somewhere else" Matteo said.
"Now! ... But I can't promise that I'll take it. It's okay, right?" chloe said, making sure.
While putting on a sullen look on his face, Matteo glanced at Chloe with the tip of his eyes, then said,
"Hopefully you are not accepted to work elsewhere. That way, inevitably, you will accept my offer."
"Geez!" Chloe chuckled, shaking her head.
Matteo then stood up from his seat, then seemed to peek at Matthew in his room.
"Matthew seems to be asleep. Would you like to take a walk with me in the back garden?" bring Matteo.
"Hm ... Okay!" chloe said, then stood up and walked with Matteo, heading to the back garden.
It's been a few days that Chloe has been living in Matthew's house, but Chloe hasn't had time to explore further part by part in the place.
So Chloe does not know, if in the back garden, it turns out to have some fruit trees.
Even though it was late at night like now, but in the back garden still looks quite bright, because of the many lights installed there.
Thus, one apple tree that bore fruit quite heavily, could still be clearly seen, as Matteo plucked some of its fruit.
"This! ... It tastes so sweet ... Like you," Matteo said, smiling broadly, as he gave Chloe an apple.
Receiving an apple from Matteo's hand, Chloe laughed in amusement, because of Matteo's words, which sounded like she was seducing Chloe.
"Yes ... I relax here, eating an apple" replied Matteo, then pointed in one direction, saying,
"There were also two vineyards, but only one tree bore fruit. The fruit is not yet ripe."
Matteo then holds Chloe's arm, and invites her to sit on a park bench, which is near an apple tree.
"If it were still daytime, I could have picked it up for you, a berry that grew near the fence....
... If it's dark at night like now, I'm pretty scared just in case there's a slithering animal in there" Matteo said, then bit the apple in his hand.
For a while later, both Chloe and Matteo were engrossed in enjoying their apples, while looking at the plants in the garden.
"In my old house, I had a back garden wider than this. I spent a lot of time there, when I ran out of ideas" Matteo said.
"Hm ... How does it feel, after a long time living elsewhere, then having to move places suddenly?" chloe asked, be careful.
"You want my honest answer? ... It hard. Just imagine, I was born in this country, but only a few years I settled here....
...The people who are there, besides my parents, even though they still have family connections, but I don't know them at all....
... The friends I know and know well are not here. It really feels alien, and definitely lonely," replied Matteo.
"Hm ... Every now and then, I do need some time alone, so I can come up with ideas to compose new songs. But if you are constantly alone, it will certainly be boring" continued Matteo.
As if he wasn't satisfied if he ate just one apple, Matteo picked another one.
Matteo offers the apple to Chloe, but Chloe immediately shakes her head, until Matteo eats it, while again sitting on the bench.
"I wish you were worried about my situation, so you ask me what it's like to live in a strange place....
... But apparently, that's not why you're asking" Matteo said.
"Hm ... Im sorry. I was just curious" said Chloe.
"Nearly ten years I have worked as an assistant CEO at McLean property, so I have become familiar with everything to do with that office job....
...Whether it's the people, or how it works. And to be honest, I was quite anxious when I imagined how it would be, if I worked in a new environment....
... Being among the people I don't recognize the character of, .. I don't know if maybe I can easily adapt" Chloe continued.
"That's exactly it.." chirped Matteo, while throwing the rest of the seeds from the apple, near the foot of the bench.
"Why don't you think about it again? Or at the very least, consider working with me instead ... We can complement each other."
Matteo then hurriedly cleared his throat, as if he was clearing his throat, then continued saying,
"Why does it sound like I'm proposing to you to marry me?"
Chloe chuckled, as she looked at the confused Matteo, with what she was talking about.
"I mean, you might feel alien to a new job. But at least you know me. And vice versa. I was helped, too, by having someone I knew by my side."
Matteo sounds as if he wants to explain, even though Chloe already understands what he means.
Feeling that she had left Matthew long enough, and plus now it was time for dinner, so Chloe thought about taking Matteo back home.
Without much protest, Matteo agrees, so Chloe immediately walks towards the main house, along with Matteo who follows, by walking beside him.
When they were inside the house, Matthew was seen waking up from his sleep, and sitting on the edge of the bed.
"Where have you been?" matthew asked, putting on an annoyed look.
"I was walking in the back garden with Mister Matteo" Chloe replied, getting ready to help Matthew, who was going to the dining room for dinner.
"From now on, you are too busy with your personal affairs," said Matthew, ketus.
"I'm sorry, sir," said Chloe.
"It's a good idea if Chloe wants to stop working for you" said Matteo, who was standing by Matthew's door. "You're a grouch, like Grandpa."
