Bitter & Sweet

Bitter & Sweet
The Part 73

It's not the feeling of pleasure that Chloe is feeling right now.

For Chloe, the excursion trip with the small yacht, which should be able to make the passengers satisfied to relax, does not feel interesting at all.

In fact, Chloe thought that it would be a loss, if she bought the ship's ticket using her own money.

I don't know!

Whether the recreation is indeed unpleasant, or maybe because it is influenced by the mood of Chloe— considering that the streets it is actually a date Matthew and Judy who canceled—saja that makes it feel that way.

To be sure, Chloe simply did not enjoy the outing she did with Matthew this time around.

Although Matthew embraces his waist tightly, Chloe instead prefers to stare at the screen display of his phone, and forget about the whereabouts of Matthew beside him.

"Is there anything interesting?" matthew asked, putting the champagne glass in his hand on the table, and then quickly took the phone out of Chloe's hand.

"Sir!" chloe said that was upset, because of Matthew's behavior, and tried to take his phone back from Matthew. "Please give me back my phone!"

"Wait a minute! ... I'm not gonna do anything. I just want to see it!" matthew said, staring at Chloe's phone screen, and moving her appearance little by little.

"The alumni from your college have a reunion?" matthew asked, after reading the group conversation on Chloe's phone.

"You're too involved in my personal affairs" Chloe said, then took her phone out of Matthew's hands. "Do you know the limits?"

Although Matthew looked upset, he said nothing.

Matthew stood up from his seat, walked over to the captain of the ship, and talked there for a while.

With a sense of indifference, Chloe just looked at Matthew's movements for a glance, then returned to pay attention to the screen of his phone.

Not long after, Matthew was seen sitting next to Chloe again, and still the same as before, Matthew just kept silent, without saying a word to Chloe.

Matthew seemed to let Chloe drown in her own busyness.

And so did Chloe, who also did not care about what Matthew might have in mind right now.

Either less or more than 10 minutes later, Chloe could not be sure, because she who did not pay attention to the trip, the small yacht they were on, then docked to the dock.

Feeling that the excursion was over, without needing to be directed again, Chloe immediately got ready and got off the ship, then walked towards the parked Matthew's car.

"Cloe!" Matthew, who has just caught up with Chloe, seems to want to draw Chloe's attention to him.

But reluctantly, Chloe, who had been looking out the window beside her, slowed down to look at Matthew. "Yes, Sir! ... What's up?"

"Did you always treat your girlfriend like this?" matthew asked, furrowing his brows deeply.

"What's it like, sir?" Pretending not to understand, Chloe asked back.

"I don't know what you're thinking" said Matthew, who sounded out of tune with what they had just discussed.

"I don't understand what you're talking about" said Chloe, then turned her face away, looking back at the window beside her.

"Is something bothering you?" asked Matthew who looked curious, so he still did not want to run his car.

Chloe turned to Matthew. "You want my honest answer?"

Matthew nodded.

"You're the one who bothers me" said Chloe, flatly.

"What am I doing, you think it's just bothering you?" ask Matthew again.

"Everything.." replied Chloe, still with her tone flat.

As if she did not get tired of asking, Matthew, who seemed increasingly curious, urged Chloe with his question again.

"What do you mean? ... Don't you want me to be around you?"

"Yes ... I want to be alone." According to Chloe, the answer should have been able to make Matthew stop bothering her.

"So you're tired of me?" The folds on his forehead looked deeper and deeper, as Matthew asked Chloe.

"Yes," Chloe replied, briefly.

Matthew shook his head, looking as if he could not believe what Chloe's answer was.

"If there's no other place you want to go, I think we should go home now ... I'll probably attend the reunion."

After she finished speaking, Chloe looked out the window, taking her eyes off Matthew.

"Cloe!" matthew said, with a high voice. "I...."

As if he had run out of words, Matthew stopped his sentence just like that, then started driving away from the parking lot.

Other than the sound of the vehicle engine, and the breathing of the two of them, none of Matthew or Chloe spoke, all the way back to Matthew's house.

Upon their arrival at his home, Matthew showed no sign that he was about to get out of the car, and appeared to be sitting behind the wheel.

Matthew leaves Chloe there, when Chloe gets out of her car.

However, Chloe also did not think to ask where Matthew was going, and instead immediately walked and entered the pavilion, without turning to see Matthew again.

Chloe spread her body over the sofa, slapping her forehead with one hand, and covering her eyes.

From the tip of the hair to the tip of Chloe's feet, nothing is not tired.

Mentally, Chloe felt so exhausted that it affected her physique.

How not?

All about Matthew, just makes Chloe feel surprised, happy, afraid, disgusted, angry and lead to deep sadness.

Had Chloe's love for Matthew not been welcome, it would have been much better.

Because Chloe also knows herself, if someone like her, it is impossible to expect someone like Matthew.

Rather than what he is today, Matthew seems to be reciprocating Chloe's love, but at the same time, Matthew only treats Chloe like a backup lover.

Matthew seems to take advantage of Chloe's existence at certain times, when Judy can not accompany him.

"Aragh!" Chloe almost yelled in frustration, then tried to encourage herself. "A little while! ... Just a week left. You can definitely go through it ... Go Chloe! Fighting!"

In fact, Chloe had no intention of going to a reunion held by her college alumni.

However, rather than wasting her energy and time regretting herself, Chloe finally prepared to go to the reunion.

By taking a taxi, Chloe goes to a hotel, where the ballroom of the hotel is the promised place to gather, by her classmates while studying first.

Waving her hand, Rene smiled broadly as she looked at Chloe, who had just walked through the ballroom entrance.

Without hesitation, Chloe stepped over to Rene who seemed to have stood up from her seat.

"Hi, Chloe! ... Long time no see. I miss you so much!" rene said, while giving a warm hug to Chloe.

"Hi, Rene!" Chloe returned Rene's embrace tightly. "I miss you too."

"Aren't you the one who isn't usually present?" chloe said, laughing.

"Don't tease me!" said Rene, shaking his head. "Hm ... My boy ... You don't know how hard it is to woo my three heroes, so that I can come here."

"Ugh?" Chloe's confused.

"Brand ... Reasonably wanting a daughter, her means were no less than her two sons," Rene explained with a smile and almost a laugh. "What about you?"

"Hm ... Still busy with work" said Chloe, with a forced smile.

"Nrt! ... You're this!" said Rene, clicking his tongue. "I'm sorry I can't call you often...."

"No need to apologize ... I understand," said Chloe. "Being a mommy, it should be if you focus more on your children."

"Are you guys moving here?" ask Chloe, hurry up.

"Unfortunately not" replied Rene. "We were just on my husband's business trip. Just visiting my parents. Tomorrow morning, we've got to get back out of town."

While enjoying the drinks and food served there, Chloe chatted with Rene.

Some of the college friends known by Chloe and Rene also, alternately greet and mince words with them.

Aside from the men who are still fighting for careers, most of Chloe's friends are female, married and even have children.

And to be honest, Chloe was quite upset, if anyone was too curious and asked about when Chloe would get married.

"What's it like to be an assistant CEO for a big company like McLean property? ... Do you feel like working there?"

Harold, who dances with Chloe right now, seems to be the only one who asks Chloe to talk about work.

"I'm planning to move to JT Corp ... Maybe early next month, if there's no obstacle" Chloe replied.

"JT Corp? ... You're going to work at our rival company?" harold asked, furrowing his brows deeply.

"Ugh?" Chloe's confused.

"Gunther Corp ... There's no way you don't know that company, do you?" ask Harold.

While still dancing quietly with Harold, Chloe recalled the name of one of the companies mentioned by Harold.

"Gunther—" At once Chloe realized something until she was wide-eyed, then stared fixedly at Harold. "The gunther ...?"

"Yes ... That one! ... Gunther group," said Harold, as if he already knew what Chloe was going to say, with a wide smile. "Do you think my last name is just a sticky name?"

"Hey! ... You never look like a rich kid!" chloe said, astonished.

Harold shook his head. "Do I have to show off my family's treasures?"

Chloe was slightly bowed, as she felt like she had mispronounced.

Because of the conversation with Harold about work, which according to Harold, he still 'studied' to replace his parents, Chloe can find out the burden felt by her boyfriend.

More or less the same as Matthew.

Which makes it different, just because the subsidiary of the Gunther group is, Gunther Corp where Harold is the main Commissioner, which is already an open company.

Due to the shareholding of Gunther Corp which is already divided with the public, so that the position within the ranks of the shareholders, not all of them are held by members of the Harold family.

Although at first he seemed excited when he told about his experience at work, but Harold looked frustrated when talking about the pressure he got from his family.

"It's not fun at all. It was like walking on a thin layer of ice. I have to be careful not to 'fall', and be the moons in my family....

... I didn't even have time to think about dating, if I had imagined that Chairman Gunther Corp would make such a bad move, and I couldn't handle it."

Chloe, who listened to Harold's words, could only be bearded, trying to understand what it was like to get a big responsibility like Harold.

According to Chloe, if Harold could have such trouble, then Matthew must have felt the same way.

In fact, Matthew's situation was much worse, because of every movement Matthew had always observed by his family.

The McLean family members, who dislike Matthew, are like starving lions watching their prey, and trying to find an opportunity to tear Matthew down.

"Are you driving here yourself?" harold asked, breaking Chloe's daydream.

"No," Chloe replied. "I'm taking a cab."

Harold looked over and over. "At the end of the day, it's just a show and a hangover."

Chloe looked around, and found that most of her friends seemed to have been consumed by alcohol.

"Do you want me to take you home?" asked Harold, looking at Chloe fixedly.

"Hmmm...." Chloe mutters.

Rene and some friends who have married, have gone home since then, and there is no longer anyone who wants him to make as a friend to talk there.

"Okay!" Chloe agreed to Harold's offer.

Therefore, Chloe returns to Matthew's house, escorted by Harold.

"You live in this housing?" harold asked, looking confused.

"For a while I stayed in my Boss' pavilion, because I was double as a personal assistant," Chloe replied, honestly.

"My house is only a few blocks from here! ... Waita minute!" Harold was seen pulling out his phone when he pulled over his car in front of Matthew's fence. "Chelle! ... Give me your phone number!"

Chloe then mentions the numbers from her phone number, while Harold is seen storing the data of Chloe's contacts inside her phone.

Harold then called Chloe's cell number. "That's my personal number! ... Call me anytime! Maybe we can meet again."

"Okay!" chloe said, while keeping Harold's contacts on his phone.

Harold then got out of his car, and opened the car door for Chloe, and immediately held Chloe who had just gotten out of the car, saying,

"Don't forget to call me! If I wasn't busy, I'd call you first. It's okay, right?!"

Chloe nodded. "Yes ... Of course you can call me."

"Now! ... I'll go first! ... Bye, Chloe!" harold said, saying goodbye.

"Bye, Harold!" Smiling, Chloe waved her hand, replying to Harold's hand, who also appeared to be smiling broadly, before the man left.

Chloe shook her head, as she walked slowly towards the pavilion.

Harold Gunther's.

It's hard to believe that Harold is the son of the founder and owner of the Gunther group.

And according to Chloe's conjecture, his other friends would definitely not expect it either, given Harold's style and look that always looks simple.

Chloe laughs to herself, reminiscing about her college days, and Harold hangs out with students from lower-class families, and don't hesitate to share a slice of pizza with Chloe and a few other friends.

"What makes you so happy?" matthew asked, who had suddenly stood in Chloe's footsteps.
