Bitter & Sweet

Bitter & Sweet
The Part 30

After watching the Opera, Chloe still goes with David to dinner together, before David finally gets ready, to drive Chloe back to Matthew's house.

"Until what time do you have to work at Matthew's? How will you go home later? Are you taking a taxi? Do you want me to pick you up?"

David still looks worried, and seems not too agree to let Chloe continue to work for Matthew.

So that question after question that David was asking, while he was driving his car, so it is not too surprising for Chloe who heard it.

Moreover, David also does not know, if it has been some time lately, Chloe lives in the pavilion in Matthew's house.

"Thank you, Sir ... But you don't have to worry about it. Forgive me ... I forgot to tell you, that in the meantime I'm staying in the pavilion that's in Mister Matthew's house."

That answer from Chloe, it seemed quite surprising to David who heard it. To the extent that, David immediately turned his head to the side, and looked at Chloe for a while.

"The sir! ... Isn't it dangerous if you don't see the road while driving?" Chloe.

David then looked straight back at the street in front of him, saying,

"Can I be envious?"

"Ugh? ... What do you mean, sir?" chloe asked confusedly.

"He doesn't treat you well, even babysit you. But you're still guarding and accompanying him 24 hours" David said.

"Chelle! ... Please consider working with me again!"

Chloe had heard David's request so many times that Chloe simply responded with a smile and said,

"I'll definitely consider it."

Upon arrival at Matthew's house, David gives a warm hug, before Chloe passes through the gate of the fence.

Chloe, carrying the grocery bag, which contained the items that David had bought earlier, intended to go to the pavilion first, before she later went to check on Matthew.

However, before Chloe entered the pavilion, and did not even have time to open the door, Matteo seemed to have approached her there.

"Hi!" greet Matteo, smiling. "How was your date?"

"Hi, Sir!" Chloe said hello. "Fun!"

Matteo looked at Chloe, from the tip of her hair to the tip of her foot, muttering. "Hmmm...."

"What's up Sir? Is my appearance too much?" chloe asked, and then looked at her own body, in any part that could be reached by her vision.

"Look, you didn't wear a dress like this when you picked up David earlier" Matteo said.

Chloe chuckled.

"Mister David asked me to be—" Chloe stopped her words abruptly, feeling that what she was going to say was not right.

"... Mister David bought it, and asked me to put it on right away, because we went to watch Opera" Chloe continued.

Matteo looked mangosteen as if to understand.

"The sir! ... Is there anything else you need? I'll bring this inside first!" Chloe showed off the luggage, which she still held to Matteo.

"Ughhh! ... Gosh! ... I forgot to. I'm meeting you, because Matthew was waiting for you in his study" Matteo said.

Hearing the words from Matteo, without lingering any longer, Chloe immediately opened the pavilion door, and placed her luggage just like that on the floor.

"Thank you, Sir! ... I'll see Mister Matthew soon now," Chloe said, closing the pavilion door again.

Actually, Chloe was intending to change her clothes first.

However, because he did not want to make Matthew so inflamed, if Chloe who was too slow to meet him, so Chloe then chose to delay her plan to change clothes.

As such, Chloe was still wearing her high-heeled dress and shoes, when she went to see Matthew in her study.

After knocking on Matthew's office door, Chloe then immediately stepped into the room, and walked up to Matthew.

"Good night, sir!" chloe said hello to Matthew, who was sitting in his chair.

More or less the same as the reaction from Matteo earlier, Matthew looked at Chloe, from the tip of her hair to the tip of her foot.

"What would you look like if you went out on a date with a friend?" matthew asked, with his voice sounding cynical.

Chloe fell silent, not knowing how to respond to Matthew's question.

Still with his gaze that seemed as if it could make a hole in Chloe's face, Matthew then continued saying,

"Or did you just come from the party? ... It seems you have enough money, to be able to buy luxury items."

According to Chloe, Matthew's words sounded as if he was insulting her.

Although she wanted to defend her pride, Chloe also did not want to lie, and finally chose to say, Chloe did not want to,

"I can't buy stuff like this with my own money. Mister David bought it for me."

The honest answer from Chloe, it seems to just make Matthew so angry, until he looks to harden his jaw, and furrow his eyebrows.

"Are you two just friends? Are all your friends like David? A very good friend, until he wants to give something like that for free," asked Matthew.

"The sir! ... Sorry for being too lazy. But you'd better just say, what do you mean. You don't have to talk much" said Chloe, who was sultry at Matthew's conversation.

"Everything has to be a reciprocal. What did you give him? Information about my plan? Or your body?" matthew asked, without taking his eyes off Chloe.

In Chloe's imagination, she immediately approached Matthew, flattening Matthew's face by giving a slap using a laptop on the man's face, to bleed a lot.

Then thrust the remote controller for the air conditioner on the table into Matthew's throat, so that Matthew would never be able to say something, which could insult him again.

Unfortunately, although Chloe was eager to do all the things that crossed her head, but it was all just an imagination.

In reality, Chloe could only let out a long sigh that felt extremely heavy, then exhaled slowly, while closing her eyes to calm herself down.

"I didn't do a single thing you thought," said Chloe, after opening her eyes again, and looking at Matthew.

Chloe, who does not want to explain at length to make a defense, seems to attract the attention of Matthew.

Matthew looked at Chloe fixedly, as if he was thinking about something, or was waiting for what Chloe would say next.

After a while had passed, and the two of them only fell silent there staring at each other, Chloe finally broke the silence, saying,

"Said Mister Matteo, you are waiting for me. What do you need?"

"Aren't you going to explain why, until David gives you the stuff?" ask Matthew.

"No," Chloe replied, briefly.

"Why? Would you rather people think badly of you?" Matthew seemed adamant about talking about it-that's all.

"I don't care" Chloe replied, firmly.

"My personal business has nothing to do with my work here. So, it would be best if you stopped 'pasting your nose....

... Just tell me what you need, until you want to meet me," Chloe continued, trying not to spark her anger.

"You say, nothing to do? You just neglected your job, just to go out on a date" Matthew said, looking like he didn't want to lose.

"So, you want me to apologize, for taking the holiday I was supposed to get? ... Alright! ... Please forgive me, sir....

... I won't repeat it again. I'm just going to date as much, when I'm not your employee anymore" Chloe said, challenging.

Matthew looked increasingly irritated, to the point that he was breathing quickly, until his nostrils looked flat.

Apparently, Matthew is not someone who is good at controlling his anger emotions, if he has to deal with Chloe.

Matthew can look like a fool in front of Chloe, because again, Matthew kicked the table.

And what makes him look even more stupid in overcoming his anger, Matthew actually hit the table using his injured hand, until it looks bloody again.

Chloe shook her head. "It's hard to believe...."
