Dragon Monarch
Chapter 28 - Using Spear

Lin Yan brought the spear back to the first floor. He approached the Elder guarding the building to exchange merit points for the weapon chosen by him.

“Chairman. I want to exchange merit points with this spear.” Lin Yan placed a spear on the table along with his identity token.

“Oh? Are you sure you took this spear Lin Yan?” The male elder who looked close to old age asked in surprise. He certainly knew Lin Yan because every day the young man would clean the building he was guarding.

Lin Yan was puzzled a little because it seemed that the elder did not so agree he took the spear.

Seeing Lin Yan's confused face, the elder explained. “This spear has been in this place for decades without ever being taken by any student. The reason for that was because of the weight of this spear, it would be extremely difficult to move if it fought with him. Another reason is because it is too expensive, many students want to buy it but at a price of 500 points the highest merit.”

“No problem Elder. I want to use it.” Lin Yan was determined which made the Elder could only sigh.

The elder also directly processed the token belonging to Lin Yan. The price of that spear was 1,050 merit points. He actually knew that the original price of the spear exceeded the current exchange price, but since no disciple would exchange it, the exchange price had further decreased after decades.

Then Lin Yan went to the next place. It was a place to exchange points for copies of techniques.

Arriving at the building, Lin Yan instantly bought a basic technique using a spear. He has a skill book for sword arts from his grandparents. He was not interested in using a sword.

After exchanging the basic spear technique for 50 merit points, Lin Yan went to a training ground that was rarely filled by disciples.

The training zone for the outer wilderness disciples was dozens. However Lin Yan went to the training zone that had been broken because the disciples would not come to that place.

Arriving at the training zone, Lin Yan sat down cross-legged and started reading the basics using the spear.

“Key uses a spear turned out not difficult although maybe many people will not understand it. Horses legs are indispensable and spear users should have strong arms.” Lin Yan understood instantly with just a single read. He also swung the spear in his hand. He felt heavy.

Because it was rather difficult to use such a heavy spear, Lin Yan also made a portion of his training by swinging the spear in one style as many as 1,000 times a day. He believed that by doing so, his mastery of the basic movement would be perfect.

And at this moment, Lin Yan knew that even though his grandparents said his body was already strong, he felt that it was not enough at all. The strength of his current body was estimated to reach a level very close to that of a Xiantian cultivator. Their difference was only in the qi base alone.

After swinging his spear for 1,000 times, Lin Yan sat down to rest. He felt numbness in his hand muscles. Yet he smiled faintly in the belief that in this way the strength of his arm would increase to a whole new level.

After the practice of swinging the spear, Lin Yan went to the forest of the first region to search for resources again. Of course, he will not relax when he has free time.

Although Lin Yan did not take the mission, the forest of the first region was a training ground that was very suitable for him at the moment that had the cultivation of the eighth stage Qi Foundation level. A real battle with spirit beasts would definitely increase his combat abilities. What else was he currently learning how to use a spear.

Lin Yan continued to move into the forest with the spear on his back. He deliberately did not keep it so that there was a burden on his body when he was moving. That way, when he fought, the burden he received would no longer be felt.

Several times Lin Yan crossed paths with the other disciples but he simply ignored him. The student who met him did the same.

After moving deep into the forest, Lin Yan finally found the first prey.

“If not wrong, that size has the power around Houtian fifth stage.” Lin Yan raised the corner of his lips and directly took out a small dagger then threw it towards the Green Poison Centipede.

Sensing that something was provoking him, the Green Poison Calamity instantly moved towards Lin Yan to prey on him.

When it reached a distance of about 10 meters away from Lin Yan, the Green Poison Centipede instantly opened its mouth and sprayed a green-colored sharp gas towards Lin Yan.

“Mata King.”

Lin Yan who saw the attack also directly dodged to the side slightly. When the sharp green liquid passed through it and hit the tree, it instantly melted it.

Without wasting any time, Lin Yan moved at high speed towards the Green Poison Centipede at his full speed.

The Green Poison Centipede felt angry. He also moved and tried to catch Lin Yan with his body. Usually the Green Poison Centipede would wrap around its prey then with its body. Its small legs will remove toxins and paralyze prey.

“Do you think you can catch me?” Lin Yan smiled slightly as he dodged to the side slightly. The moment the Green Poison Centipede failed to catch him, it instantly swung its spear.

Srak!

Lin Yan's spear blade instantly cut through the body of the Green Poison Centipede. The green-colored blood that emitted steam sprayed very much. But the spirit beast had not died.

When the Green Poison Centipede cried out in pain, Lin Yan immediately jumped up and aimed his spear at the head of the spirit beast.

Jem!

Lin Yan's spear was directly lodged on the head of the Green Poison Centipede. Although the poison was strong, it had not been able to melt Lin Yan's spear which had quite a high hardness.

“Not too difficult.” muttered Lin Yan whipped out a spear then flicked it so that the Green Poison Centipede's blood fell. He also pulled out an ordinary sword to dig out the spirit beast core. The sword seemed to melt slightly and Lin Yan was sure that if a cultivator was exposed, his skin would definitely melt and leave behind a mark of life stew.

Lin Yan did not bring the corpse of the Green Poison Centipede because he knew he could not eat the flesh of that spirit beast. Although it was possible that his body could be sold, it only cost around 3 gold coins which made him not interested at all.

“One spirit beast core. It won't be enough to make me break through. At least I need twenty Earth Mushrooms.” Lin Yan only sighed as it was extremely difficult to search for the Earth Mushroom. He wanted to buy it but there would be no disciples willing to sell it.

If there is, the price may be very expensive. There is no other way to get it than by hunting.

“I wonder, from where the Heavenly Dragon sect has so many Earth Mushrooms.” muttered Lin Yan and directly moved towards the way back as it was already afternoon.

However, while on his way back, Lin Yan discovered something that made him very excited.
