The Eternal War Kasarewang

The Eternal War Kasarewang
Harsa Wijaya vs Magic (3)

What do I know about magic? Ask Harsa to herself. Finding Harsa not answering directly, Adi asked again.

“Before I speak at length, I just want to know how far you know about magic. What have you taught you about magic?”

“Papa said that I have magic ability that can come out in the form of fire.”

“...” Adi is silent. He again pondered the lack of information his father had given Harsa. “If in one sentence, can you define magic to me?”

“Something magical?” harsa replied with both hands raised, confused.

Adi sighed. “So that means he doesn't teach you anything.”

“Papa taught me the language of Kasarewang! Coupled with all the school lessons, I'm not-”

“But you can't even speak Kasarewang now!” cut Adi.

“Already! Just go explain what magic is!” Harsa said he would not argue with Adi who did not like to give up.

“Magic is the command to move and change the physis, from the physis to the element, or from the element to the physis.” Adi said in one breath. It seemed that he had memorized the notion of magic out of his head.

“OK, then what is physis?” ask Harsa straight to the point.

“Physis is the purest thing in the world. Physis can be transformed into any element, be it energy or matter, space or time. Physis is the thing that built this world. Water, soil, air, or the space in which all matter is located. It is also the time in which space and matter travel. Everything can be made of physis and everything in the world has a physis. You also have a physis spread across your body. However, the physis in this world is limited.”

“Then the energy comes out from inside me? That's also physis?” harsa asked remembering the magic that often came out of her seal. “What's element?”

“Physis is not coming out of you. It came out from behind Kaimu.” Adi Refusal. “Try you close your eyes and feel the flow of physis in your body.”

Harsa closed her eyes, looking inside her. He felt a stream of physis swirling within his body. Of the many streams, he felt the origin of that physis. Following his instincts, he continued to focus on the source of the physis flow. Then.he suddenly returned within the white hallway he had seen in a dream.

“You play just enter.” Adi's words sounded so close that they surprised him.

“Woahh!! Why is Adi here?!” harsa asked in shock as she stepped back from the figure of Adi standing in the narrow hallway.

“I put my physis and my vassal in your body.” Adi said.

Harsa. “Neither.”

“Everyone has a unique physiology. A collection of physis from Kasarewang can form a vassal which is a form of one's spirit. With vassal.” Adi said while pointing at himself and Harsa. “We can open and close Kai.” He said pointing forward.

Harsa followed Adi who was walking towards the front. When they reached the curtain of mesh cloth symbolizing fire, Adi stopped. “This,” said opening explanation. “It is a manifestation of your affinity for fire. The symbol on the fabric indicates that the physis from Kai will come out in the form of the fire element and the fire element you consume will be stored in the form of pure physis.” Adi Clear. “Your first lesson is how you can consciously flow the physis through this symbol, so that you can issue the physis in pure form or in the fire element. After that, if you can, you may be able to drain pure physis into your body to strengthen it.”

Harsa nodded. “So this filter is very important to do magic?”

“Good for you to understand quickly, but the stamp on this filter is just a sign. Which turns the physi into your fixed element. You did magic, and not the stamp.”

“Hm, okay, I understand.” Harsa opened her eyes. “How is one's affinity determined? Why do I have an affinity for fire, not water, or soil?”

“Determined from birth. Usually a Kasarewang will inherit an affinity from one of their two parents. You inherited an affinity for the fire element under an abstract decree from Father.”

“Then Brother Adi?”

Adi coughed a little. “I inherited an affinity for fire from my father and water from my mother. It is a fairly rare case, but it could happen.”

“What is it because Adi said talented?”

Adi nodded. “Yes, one of them is so, but actually because I graduated from army school earlier than the others. That's a story for next time. Next question!”

“Hmm.” Harsa thought about the question carefully. “How many kinds of elements?”

“Tak infinity. Even ordered elements of mineral water, distilled water, and seawater are slightly different. We divide it into five major decrees. Time magic decrees, space magic decrees, life magic decrees, abstract magic decrees, and magic objects decrees. Fire element is under abstract magic decree.”

“Engg, Yes? But more than that.” Adi replied a little confused. Then he raised his palm. On top of his palm, formed a small cloud that floated around. “I have an affinity for water which makes it easier to master the water element, but I can develop it to master the other elements that are under the material decree because the water element is under the material decree.”

Harsa. “Wait a minute, I think Adi only has an affinity for fire and water.”

Adi shakes. “I think last dad did tell you that I have an affinity for water. It's true but it's too easy, so you misunderstand. Each Kasarewang has an affinity for a particular element under a particular decree. For example me, I have an affinity for water under a material decree. It means that I can most easily master the water element, but I can master the other elements that are under the material decree if I want to make an effort. Same with fire. You have an affinity for the fire element under abstract decrees, but if you want to learn, you can master other elements that fall under abstract decrees, such as electrical elements, sound, and sound, and light. So rather than merely as a classification, decrees also act as boundaries. There is a significant difference in difficulty for mastering elements across decrees and elements that are under the same decree.”

“So I can master other elements besides fire element?” harsa asked excitedly, more to herself.

“Yes. All elements that are equally under one classification of decrees are easier to learn.” Adi Clear. “But that's later. Your first lesson is to consciously open and close Kai. Once you can, you can do many things, such as strengthening your own body, giving off aura, absorbing physi, and perceiving and controlling your physis in the environment. Only after that, you will learn how to convert the physis into other elements that fall under the abstract decree.”

“Good.” Harsa said she was getting excited about the new challenge. “How to do it?”

Without answering Harsa, Adi began to step until they reached the front of the large gate at the end of the passage. Different from the last time Harsa was here, her pivot window in the big cliff was slightly open. From there, like the wind blowing slowly, a physi.s.s flowed out from within him. Harsa looked back at the magnificent gate with a clack. “So... It's Kai?” He broke out in a cold sweat again imagining that he could die if he passed through this gate.

“Close that window. Then, you can return to your original appearance.” Adi said firmly.

Harsa gulps. Before she tried to close the window, Harsa realized that the task would not be as easy as she had imagined. His hands trembled trying to push the window shut using all his strength, but the window hinges did not budge at all. Harsa looked at Adi full of questions, hoping to provide help, but Adi stood there unmoved.

“Kak, please?” Pinta Harsa.

Adi shakes. “I can't help you. Kai is part of you. Only you can move it.”

Harsa breathed a sigh of despair. He tried once again, closed! Closed down!!! Shouts Harsa in the heart. You're part of my body, right! So I can move you! Unexpectedly, the window moved and closed. In her shock, Harsa's eyes opened wide. He was back in the valley on the edge of the Spirit World. Adi who looked like she was asleep in front of her also immediately opened her eyes.

“ Mental strength is all you need to open and close Kai, because they are part of your spirit.” Adi Clear. “The longer you live, the easier it is to do it. Now try opening Kai again.”

“Open again?”

“You should be able to open and close Kai quickly without losing consciousness if you want to use the physis from the Spirit World in battle. You also still need to be able to control the change from physis to fire element.”

Without being able to protest again, Harsa felt the flow of physis within her. If before the flow was so swift as it came out from Kaiya, now the physis flowed within him quietly. Harsa tried to imagine the door opening again. He felt like there was ‘klik’ in his chest. Then, a physis gushed out from the open gate. Before the physis spread out from her body, Harsa held them back.

“Kak, how do we use that filter?” ask Harsa confused. “If I take out physis now from my body, I'm sure serratus percent will come out in the form of fire element.”

“Tadi, I said, what is magic?” Adi asked back ignoring Harsa's question.

“Uuh. Command to physis to transform into element and vice versa.” Hansa was confused.

Adi nods. “Then, what are you confused about?”

Harsa looked at her brother increasingly confused. “Ya, how? How do I change something that even I can't see?”

“Ordered. You have authority over the physis. As long as you understand that you have power over physis, you can magic.”

“Ordered.” Repeat Harsa. He nodded as he closed his eyes, then he recalled how he had pulled out the physis the moment he destroyed the seal. At that time, he told his physis to come out without a second thought because he was desperate. Get out, Harsa thought, without burning! Harsa could imagine the symbol on the mesh cloth within the passageway not burning as the physis of the Spirit World flowed out from her body.

“Tuh, can.” Adi's comments felt the physis coming out of Harsa's body, accumulating in the air around her skin.

Harsa smiled, realizing that her brother was right.

“Don't be happy first, it should be, five-year-old Kasarewang can do what you do easily.”

“I know. I have a lot to pursue, right?” Harsa said, but this time he was more excited. Harsa was able to drain the physis throughout his body without letting out a single spark. For the first time in the past few tens of minutes, he was finally able to stand on the Edge of the Spirit World. He felt better, after a long time his body felt so heavy.

“Yes. There's a lot you have to go after.” Adi said, stand up too. “Ready?”

“Do not worry. I often ranked in the top three in the class.” Harsa said confidently
