The Eternal War Kasarewang

The Eternal War Kasarewang
Harsa vs Second Class (2)

Ready not to be ready, the test comes without waiting for how many problems of physics Barasa finished doing or how many formulas Barasa memorized. The boy massaged his forehead feeling steaming. “I'm sorry to be in the IPA.” department Barasa.

Harsa patted Barasa on the shoulder. “It won't be that bad. We learned a long time ago. Instead of worrying, just rest. Remember tomorrow we play.” Entertain Harsa.

“Yes. Also true. I don't want to think again until the value comes out.”

Harsa nodded. He also did not want to think about the lesson again at least until the end of this week. Back at school, he planned to go straight to sleep to reset his mind. However, Harsa's plans are disrupted when she meets Aster at the school gate.

“Sa!” Call Aster excited. “Would you like to go home?”

“Heeh.”

“Where did you study for the standardization exam?” ask Aster.

“Uhh, if for the history of the kingdom of Kasarewang and new magic creatures until chapter one.” Answer Harsa. “I'm not finished yet. Where did you get?”

“Hm. I have reached chapter two for both, but, the problem for me is Kasarewang. I think to really be able to practice. By the way tomorrow practice together, yuk!” Take Aster.

Harsa's forehead is wrinkled. “Ah, sorry. Tomorrow I want to play with my classmates.”

“Yakin, Sa? The learning materials are many!” Said Aster.

“Yakin! I need time to relieve stress now!” Harsa shouted rather loudly. Maybe he's really sleep deprived and tired of controlling his emotions. Jarsa was instantly regretful after such a tone came out of his mouth.

“Oh, okay.” Answer Aster. “I first, yes.” Pinta Aster to escape from Harsa.

On Saturday, Harsa's class decides to watch one of the fantasy films where the main character gains superpowers to defeat the evil monsters. That movie was so fun. One story is complemented by cool visual effects, hilarious comedy bits, and a satisfying story, but Harsa feels the film is like a parody of her life. Harsa feels strange on her own. When her friends were excited about talking about the film in their imaginations, she could feel connected to it like the real world.

“What are you thinking?” Elis's question stops Harsa's daydream.

“Oh, haha. Naw. The movie was in my head.”

Right now, their classroom kids are sitting at a long table of fast food restaurants. The clock was almost five o'clock in the afternoon, and they were waiting for their respective orders to arrive while talking about the film. Elis was seated right next to Harsa.

“Hehe, yes, it was really exciting. You like?” elis asked, starting a conversation.

“Ya, the visual effects are really cool.”

“Wuusshh. It is very exciting when the main character controls the fire so that the fire does not spread. Cool.”

“You think if I can do that, cool don't you?” ask Harsa playfully.

“Hahaha, can you.”

“Truly, cool no?” Force Harsa.

“Iya, cool-cool.” I'm Elis laughing. “You will be perfectly okay to be a firefighter.”

Harsa laughed, but in her little heart she wondered if it would be okay if she told Elis about her magical abilities. What reaction will Elis show? Will Elis believe it or laugh at it? Even if such thoughts were spilling in Harsa's brain, in the end he did not dare to say anything. He too pierced into mortal conversation with Elis. Enjoying looking at the sweet smile on her beautiful face and her eyes that were like shining excitedly.

If only, a moment like this could last much longer….

As usual, Harsa's wish seems to be unfulfilled. Just as Harsa was thinking like that, her shoulders trembled and cold sweat began to drench her hands. Anxiety kicked at Harsa's stomach as her aura detected something vile at four hundred meters in place of her standing. Of course, as always, ‘something’ it is formskitter.

Unknowingly, Harsa stood up from her seat in shock.

“Why, Sa?” ask Elis worried. “You're so pale.”

“Sorry. I think I should go first.” Break Harsa directly. He couldn't possibly repeat the mistake of letting the formskitters come to the Material World again.

“Why? If you have stomach pain, you can go to WC first.”

Harsa. “Ngak, coke. I'm first, yes.” Without saying anything else, Harsa gathered her purse and handphone scattered across the table. From her little backpack, she pulled out a agate ring that Adi gave her a few months ago, when she was first class. With the spell within the ring, he could open the transparent hood towards the Edge of the Spirit World.

Harsa wore the ring on her index finger. He was still unfamiliar with the color and shape of the agate rings striking on his fingers. Harsa went to a deserted place before going to the Spirit World Bank to have unsuspecting people disappear.

Within the Edge of the Spirit World, he entered within a vast forest surrounded by towering mountains. The visibility of Harsa is narrow because the day is getting dark and the leaves of the trees block the remnants of sunlight. Harsa could feel the aura of the formskitter was terrifying, but not her eyes narrowed looking for the real formskitter. The fact that this creature can hide so well makes Harsa's heart beat like a hungry tiger.

Harsa enveloped all of her body with physis while opening her Kai wide. As usual, Harsa's appearance changed drastically. Her hair color became bright red and her eyes color became light yellow. He stepped slowly in the middle of the forest.

Telunjut Harsa. There, he turned a little physis into fire to increase his visibility. That was when, from the front, a clear liquid slid rapidly towards Harsa's chest. Harsa's quick reflexes saved him. Although her body had been shielded by physis, the nearly transparent liquid had melted down Harsa's jacket and clothes. The liquid landed on one of the tree trunks behind Harsa and left a hole sufficient to topple the tree, without the slightest sound.

Harsa saw him in disbelief and he gulped while looking for a formskitter figure from the direction where the liquid was fired. For a moment, he managed to catch one black sphere that became the core of the formskitter before another liquid was shot towards him. Harsa jumped in fear. He was a little relieved to be able to see where the formskitter core was easily, but at the same time his hand shook because he could not see the formskitter's body. The shape is slime. Harsa said to herself.

Realizing that he was already in sight, the formskitter slipped away into the shadows of the trees.

“Sial!” How am I supposed to launch a sniper attack if I can't see where the formskitters are?

In addition to being invisible, the condensed aura of formskitter made it difficult for him to shoot the core of the formskitter with his laser attack. Harsa put his full concentration on his aura to detect an almost invisible attack and attempted to retaliate with a small laser that could be easily avoided by the formskitter. It seems that none of his attacks hit the formskitter because Harsa had trouble pinpointing the location of the formskitter. Meanwhile, Harsa is forced to keep avoiding those deadly jets of liquid.

Maybe I can launch a big fireball to destroy the trees where they hide, but….. If I do that, I can definitely destroy the ecosystem here. Will it cause a disaster in the Material World? Harsa did not know the answer, so he did not dare to launch such a huge attack.

However, the longer their shooting games get more and more tiring. Harsa jumped from one branch to another, using tree trunks as his footing to accelerate in avoiding the deadly liquid shot. The amount of his physiology decreases slowly, and mentally Harsa gets more and more tired of opening Kai continuously.

How do I end this? Harper was desperate. He wants to go back to the fast food restaurant at the mall to enjoy his burger order.

Tsing! A small voice rang out from firing the deadly liquid that passed through his right ear. Obviously the attack was directed at his face. Harsa quickly attacked back, but with ease the formskitter moved with a plop sound.

The voice…. That's her!!

If only, Harsa used to hear every movement of the formskitter sound, maybe he could hit the core of the formskitter with one strike. But Harsa clearly had to admit that his hearing was not sharp like a dog or a cat. If only, he could sharpen his hearing with physis….

Harsa's mind was like a freshly gushed eureka water bath. Without waiting again, Harsa drained a large amount of physis into both ears. Like when he raised the volume of sound while listening to a song through earphones, he could capture the surrounding sounds clearly. Now, without a doubt, Harsa fired a laser at the formskitter. His attack was hit hard, evident from the explosion of the formskitter core fragment. His slim body evaporated and disappeared.

Harsa took a long breath. Only then did Harsa feel pain from scratches all over her body. Unknowingly, his clothes had been tattered after dodging so many jets of deadly liquid. With no other choice, Harsa returned to the Material World in such a dress.

Out onto the highway, Harsa could feel astonished gazes from the people around her. He must look like a recently robbed person, or a teenage boy who just got into a brawl. If only his teacher had seen Harsa now, he would have been in trouble at school. Now, Harsa had no choice but to return to the mall and chat with her friends. With a long sigh, he requested that his father pick him up.

Erik's eyes instantly widened when he saw Harsa's appearance and the look on his pouting face. “Woah. Looks like your day is no fun.”

“I was chatting with Elis, with friends, I mean, when formskitter came attacking! Bayangin, Dad! Why the hell didn't he attack tomorrow?! Why must I fit again play the same temen-temen?!” Harsa's complaint came out without being held back.

“Well, in war, opponents attack in unexpected times.”

“Pa, is there any way that I will not be attacked by formskitter again forever?!”

“Ehm, like me, well you could have covered your Kaimu forever by destroying the vassal, but it was the same way as amputating your own hand, even if your hand had no problem. You like magic, don't you? Yes... or if you want to live a quiet life, you can stay in Drestha.”

Word ‘Drestha’ instantly reminds Harsa about standardization exam. “I don't know if I can live in Drestha or not. I have to get citizenship of Kasarewang Kingdom to stay there, right?”

“Yes. Of course, without that stamp you are like an illegal immigrant of his fate.”

“I'm not sure I'm welcome in Drestha even with that legal stamp. Honestly, pa, why do I feel that many kasarewang do not like humans? But I'm afraid I can't stay here another hundred, two hundred years. People must be confused as to why I didn't die.”

Erik took a long breath. “Because of formskitter, Kasarewang rarely comes out of Drestha City. Also, if it wasn't my job to be a diplomat, I would probably never have met a human in my entire life. Human images also deteriorated due to the massive news about some cases of Kasarewang kidnapped by the human side to be researched.”

“So, papa and mama are actually rare couples. Most Kasarewang does not like humans very much, and humans assume that Kasarewang and magic are not real.” Knot Harsa upset.

“That's the case, it's good that you take the test. I think, if you have been recognized by King Kasarewang himself, your existence in Drestha will not be challenged.” Said Erik. “True you say, it is more difficult to change identities continuously after you pass the reasonable age for humans.”

Harsa could not help but voice with her father, but Harsa's intention was not just about the Kasarewang people who did not like humans. Harsa also thinks of small habits such as going to the mall, eating pasture cuisine, and using a smartphone. Can he live without those things?

In the end, Harsa let out a long sigh. “After mama's absence, what's papa's plan?”

Erik was surprised to hear the question. “Yes, I'll be back to Drestha, I guess, but it's still a long time.”

“I don't think I have any other choice. I have to pass that standardization exam.” Harsa said full of determination.

Erik threw a sympathetic smile at Harsa. “I you can definitely.”

Yahh Harsa said in his heart. If only, I wouldn't have had to study for UTS and UAS at the same time. However, Harsa held her mouth. He smiled back. “I will try my best.”
