The Eternal War Kasarewang

The Eternal War Kasarewang
Pitch vs Perfect Pitch (2)

Elis kept his promise about helping Harsa train the perfect pitch. Friday afternoon, that same week, they met in an empty hall. At the end of the hall, there is a school piano that is often used for music classes. In the afternoon, they were alone in the hall.

Elis opens the hood that protects the piano from dust. Harsa took one chair from the edge of the hall and placed it next to the piano. Elis played a few notes as Harsa sat in her chair.

“Nothing, Lis, we use this piano?” ask Harsa without hesitation.

“Nothing, really. I've also asked the chairman of the music club for permission to use this piano. For a long time, no problem.” Answer Elis.

Elis plays one key note, then Harsa has to memorize his tone. Then, Elis will play the key of the tone randomly and Harsa will have to recognize what the tone is. Even after they tried many times, Harsa was unable to properly for two times in a row.

“Arghh! This feels impossible.” Harsa said frustrated.

“Maybe I should give you three tone keys first. So you can choose from three first.” Elis's Proposal.

“Good idea.” Harsa agrees.

“Oh, yes. I just remembered. What if you imagine a certain picture or scene when you hear a certain tone. He said later if you heard the same tone would be the same picture as well.”

Harsa closed her eyes. “Good, I tried ya.”

They dabble in developing Harsa's perfect pitch until the sky darkens. Every time Harsa managed to guess the two tones correctly, they seemed to have managed to stare at Mount Everest. Upset by the slow pace of their progress, Harsa wastes a tired breath.

Elis smiled comfortingly. “Nothing. It seems impossible to develop a perfect pitch in just one practice.”

Harsa forced a smile back. “Ya, true also.”

“For today, I think it should be easy first.” He said while covering the big piano with a cloth. Harsa. “But I'm curious anyway. Why do you need to develop a perfect pitch, even though you are not a musician too.” Elis herself, who likes to play music, is comfortable with her normal hearing ability.

“Uuh.” Harsa scratched her head in confusion. He's getting uncomfortable. “Kakku... In the father's family, everyone can perfect pitch, so my sister kinda ... you know, likes to grumble because I can't perfect pitch. My dad is not a problem, but because of something I often meet my brother now and I have been lazy to respond to him.”.

“Hoooh.” Elis nodded. “Yes, more or less imagined. When I was twelve, I learned French desperately for the same reason as you. My father's family is from France. Papa and mama speak English at home, but every time I meet my papa's family, it feels like there's always a sneer why I don't speak French.”

“Nah, yes! Aye! But it can't, it doesn't affect us! But the problem is revealed again and again.” Harsa did not expect that there would be someone who understood the problem. Coming home from training, they talk a lot about their families. During this time, Elis always seemed timid and more open to Barasa. Just this time, Harsa felt so close to Elis, and it felt good.

“Then you learn French within three months?!” Excited Harsa amazed.

Elis nodded proudly. “Oui. Yep. Hence, you can definitely and prove it to your brother.” Elis said encouragingly before going home to ride the motorcycle.

Harsa did not have to wait long before her father's car appeared in front of her nose shaft. When Harsa walked onto the front bench, Erik asked in a seductive tone.

“Oh. Who was that girl? You said there were activities at school so ask to be picked up for the night. Uh, just as I picked up, uh another nice chat with sweet girls.”

Harsa's face was flushed in shame. “He's my classmate. Music club boy who promised to help me develop perfect pitch.”

“Ooohh. Friends, yes.” Erik said while nodding.

"Yes a friend." Harsa. "Friends."

Erik couldn't take it anymore, then laughed loosely. "Ouch. Excuse me. Sometimes I forget how fast humans grow. If Adi used to be, it took him decades to get interested in finding a partner." Erik's Story.

Somehow, Harsa did not dodge, did not refute, did not say anything. He was silent like a rock, mute a thousand languages. His entire strength, his muscles, and his mental ability he was resistant to resisting embarrassment. As always, Harsa has trouble saying no to things that are true.

"But anyway. You should focus on your studies in school first. Also focus on learning magic from Adi. You need magic to defend yourself from formskitters. Especially if you want to stay here."

"Keep living here?" ask Harsa confused. "I can move?"

"Well... I mean, who knows if you'd like to live in Kasarewang City, Drestha, if you'd like."

“Kasareang City? Is there?” Harsa asked starting to imagine a city full of magic inhabited by immortal humans.

“Ya, do you think where Adi worked so far?” Erik said with a small laugh. “If you remember, you have never been there ya.” Thought Erik.

“Where is that city?”

“In Amazon Forest area.” Answer Erik.

When Harsa just saw it with a facial expression, ‘Hah’, Erik added. “Not the Amazon Forest in the material world, but the Amazon Forest on the World Bank of Spirit. If you get on a plane there now, will not meet.”

“Ooh. That way. Hmm means far away also Adi every week must go back and forth from here to there.” Harsa said remembering Adi's complaint.

“Yes, eat. You should seriously learn magic.” Erik is back in advising mode. “After being able to protect yourself, I don't have to worry about what your fate would be if attacked by formskitter.”

“Iya, Pa. Ja. I'm serious about learning magic. Every week I stay at the Spirit World Bank with Adi to learn magic.” Harsa said. In his head is imagined again tomorrow and the day after tomorrow which he must face together with Adi.
