The girl sighed softly.. His hands were tired of trying to open those doors, but nothing happened. All the doors remained tightly closed.
He walked back, hoping to find a door that would open and free him from the void that locked him.
^^^^^^^^^^
I looked at my own reflection in the mirror doubtfully.
Today I'm going to start working. And I'm so nervous.
"You're beautiful baby" Charlie said as he tidied up the complicated braid on the back of my head.
"Is my shirt not weird?" my many.
Today Charlie chose a dress consisting of black pants and blazers, as well as a sky-blue blouse, almost as colorful as my eyes.
Why did Charlie choose?
Yeah.. FYI I really have a bad taste in dressing - at least that's Charlie and Oscar - which is why almost all of my closet is a donation of ideas from Charlie . Not a big problem\, as I said\, I hate shopping.
I stared at my reflection in the mirror once again and snorted dissatisfiedly.
I have a small body. Maybe my body shape and posture are good, because I'm a ballet dancer, but about height I'm really inferior. Oscar height 189 cm, while I.hhh--------158 cm.
Mom once joked and told me, if Oscar took all the genes from them, so I didn't get any.
Maybe Mom was right, because I'm the smallest inhabitant of this house. Ahh-sebersit grieving approached me when I thought of Mom.
Girl, it's not the right time to get mellow!
"Lui... You ready yet? We can be late for the office". Oscar's voice calls from below.
"Yes". Shortened sahutku. Moving from the front of the mirror.
"You're gonna be okay, dear" Charlie said, handing me a briefcase and hugging me.
"Blessed" he added.
"Eh.. Shouldn't good luck?" I was surprised to hear Charlie's hope.
"Yes.. Good luck" Charlie said with a smile.
I looked into Charlie's eyes and I saw there was worry there.
"Come on!!" yell Oscar again.
I undo the intention to ask, kiss Charlie's cheek at a glance, then run down.
Maybe Charlie was just worried if I suddenly fainted in the office. I ran down the stairs, and when I got under someone blocked my arm.
"You running? You want to pass out before you get to the office?!" oscar said while looking at me sharply.
Apparently he was waiting for me under the stairs. I didn't see him just now.
"Don't overdo Oscar, I can still practice ballet for 1 hour and be fine" I replied as I rolled my eyeballs.
"That was" he said short and then walked out to the car.
"For Alex!" my broom.
Alex stood waiting for us next to the door of the car that had opened.
"For Miss" he replied with a friendly smile.
Alex has been working for our family for almost 10 years. He became Dad's personal driver before. After Dad went to France, he became an Oscar driver.
I tried to calm myself down by looking at the scenery outside. I glanced at Oscar, he was reading something on the I-pad and was talking to someone on the wireless earphone.
Good Lord!
He even started working before he got to the office. I became a little bit sorry for whoever he was talking to right now. He had to listen to Oscar's instructions from 6 a.m.
The journey from our home to the office took a long time. Almost 2 hours drive - Oscar never came to the office, Alex once told me about this - because the location of our house was far from urban. Even our house is close to the border of the Blubell forest.
Why did we choose that location as a house when Dad was able to buy a magnificent house in the middle of the city? The answer is because Mom.
Mom likes nature. Trees, flowers, and friends. That's why Dad built a mansion outside the city. Complete with a garden, and of course an electrified fence to prevent animals from entering our home territory.
Blubell Forest is not too broad, but very dense and is a protected forest that has been hundreds of years old.
No wonder so many wild animals inhabit it - Thanks God I never met one of them- And because we have since childhood chosen boarding schools, the unusual location of our house never bothered me.
"We're here" said Oscar cutting off my long daydream, which consisted of a lot of wild things, including what if it turned out to be a shameful performance and all the Delmor office employees would laugh at me the moment they met. A daydream that does not bring peace of soul.
"O.ok" I said, stammering with nervousness.
I straightened my hair and clothes before I went down. "Do I look neat? " i asked Oscar who had come down and was waiting for me by the door.
He just smiled and extended his hand to help me down. "You look amazing, like always" he replied later, stepping through the building's windshield door, which had been opened by guards, as soon as Oscar's car approached.
I'm really grateful - and grateful - for Charlie picking my clothes and tidying my hair. Because as soon as I walked into the building\, the whole gaze of the person inside was directed at us.-*heyyy what do you expect will happen? I entered the building with Oscar, not only because he was the CEO, but I have to admit, He looks amazing in a sui*t---
I've never felt so nervous. It was worse than my first ballet. At least then I knew, what I would see when the curtain lifted. But today, I was completely blind. I haven't even been to Delmor before today.
Ugh.. I'm not ready for this.
Tomorrow I'll pick another door to enter, or I'll have Oscar come in first.
After a century-long journey through a sea of whispers, even some female employees blatantly pointed at me, while Oscar walked leisurely and replied to some greetings from his employees - wading the distance between the front door and elevator\, I breathed a sigh of relief.
I was alone with Oscar in the elevator.
The long breath that I breathed out loudly, made Oscar laugh amusedly.
Deciding not to comment on my situation, he pushed the number 6 button.
"Your office is on the 6th floor, and I'm on the 40th. Topmost. I'll introduce you to the secretary who will help you later. After that I had a meeting, so sorry I couldn't keep you company for long"
"It's okay, I'm here to work, of course I don't need company" I said a little sniffly, I'm still upset that he was laughing at me earlier.
When I heard my annoyed tone, Oscar laughed even louder.
Oscar's crisp laughter rubbed off on me. Yeah brother's.. Laugh, don't worry about me. I'm gonna be just fine.
Arriving on the 6th floor, I walked behind Oscar who stepped in a hurry - he didn't want to be late for the meeting of course - while explaining the layout on the floor for me.
"On this floor there are 2 divisions, HRD and Charity divisions. Most HRD because Charity itself only contains 2 people"
"Morning too!" he said he returned the greetings of employees who passed by in the hallway.
Oscar stopped in front of a large brown door that read Charity with a golden plate attached and opened it.
"Welcome to your new office!!" his smile wide.
The office had an interior that was almost similar to the rooms before - luxurious shades of green and black - a black sofa loosened in the corner of the room and complete with fresh flowers on its desk. At the other end is an office desk with an elegant model.
I haven't had a chance to say anything yet, a woman came up to us and nodded her head respectfully.
"Good morning Mr.Delmora! Ms. Delmora, welcome to your office" he said in an official tone to the point of giving me goosebumps.
I'm watching him closely. Her curly hair tied back was almost black, but I could still see a bit of brown.
He was taller than me -- of course-, round-shaped glasses stuck comfortably in his nose. She is beautiful, especially when smiling, her dimples are visible.
"This is Jovita Norine, the secretary who will help you here, and Jovi, this is my sister Eluira Delmora who will be in charge of this division from now on" Oscar said.
"It's nice to meet you Ms. Delmora, you can call me Jovi" she said, holding out a hand and smiling nervously.
I welcomed her hand and realized that her hand was a little wet.
Apparently it wasn't just me who was nervous this morning. I smiled and answered too.
"Eluira Delmora and just call me Lui or Elui. And please be relaxed" I said, shuddering in a tone almost robot-like manner.
"really?" he asked, widening his eyes in disbelief.
His eyes are beautiful dark brown, his face looks so funny because of glaring.
"Yes, just call me Lui, I don't like things that are too official" I replied
"Oh.thank God" he said as he breathed a sigh of relief.
I laughed amusedly at her, whereas Oscar only smiled a little.
"Jovi's been working in this division since it was first formed, so he'll explain everything you need to know later. He loved this division so much, because when I offered him to move to another division, he turned it down! Even Mrs. Olsen - the long-time division head - also rejected my offer to move. I had to persuade him with a fairly high position before he finally gave up. But Jovi wasn't even tempted by the offer I was given" Oscar's story goes at length.
"I'm starting to not understand why other employees call this division a hell hole, they feel at home here" he added.
"It's not so Mr. Delmora, it's just that I feel I've done enough in this division, and I'm not one to put up with the competition and the pressure of hard work. I think I'm more suited to be in this division than anyone else" Jovi said with a bow.
"Oscar, you're gonna be late for a meeting" I said, cutting their conversation.
"Oh**" he said while looking at the watch.
"Alright, Jovi please explain everything Lui needs to do, okay?" Jovi just nodded obediently.
"And you, I'll be home with Alex, I'll be overtime till night. I'll go home alone" he added, looking at me sharply, which means I can't argue with him.
"Why don't I go home alone? You're gonna be so tired from overtime" I suggested.
"Do you want to make me die of worry? What if you suddenly faint while driving on the road? Don't argue!!" he added viciously, when I saw me thumping my mouth in annoyance.
"okay.. I have to leave now before it's really too late"
He stroked my cheek briefly then came out.
"I'm so envious" Jovi said suddenly.
"Why?" I don't know, he just saw Oscar yelling at me.
"Because she's being so sweet to you" she replied with a small smile. "I have a younger brother, and the sweetest thing he ever did was throw a shoe at me, when I asked for help to take it" she added bitterly.
I laughed at hearing it.
"Well, he's 15, I just hope he'll get better later" Jovi relaxed his shoulders.
"Hey.anyone can be rude during puberty. Even Oscar, he always forbade me from approaching him when he started puberty, I was very sad at that time. But we're finally fine now" comfort me with sympathy.
"Yes, I hope so" concluded Jovi.
She was a kind and friendly girl, a distance age Jovi who was only three years older than me, made us quickly familiar. He explained everything I needed to do in this division in detail.
Answering a million questions from me - because I was almost blind and knew nothing about office life - patiently anyway. I think I like it. Maybe we can be friends, my resolve is deep in heart.
For lunch, Jovi took me to a cafe located a few blocks from the office building. He said the burger was delicious.
I can't wait to try it.
The cafe was very busy that day. Me and Jovi were lucky to get an empty seat on the right end. We also enjoyed lunch with a long chat. He told me about his family.
His father and mother owned a cake shop and his sister attended one of the schools for very famous athletes.
His sister earned a full scholarship there because of her ability to play football. Seeing her sparkling eyes when telling stories - even though she had said they didn't get along - I knew she loved her sister very much.
"We just got to know, but you've told me almost your whole life story" I said with a big smile.
"Don't get me wrong, I like it, I feel like we're getting closer because of this" I added hurriedly, because Jovi looks a bit uneasy and puts down the burger he's eating - she is right by the way, the burger is awesome--
"mmmmm.. Luis. Actually.emm" he said hesitantly.
"Why?.keep going" I said curiously. "Yesterday, when Mr. Delvin.."
"Call it Oscar, I'm not comfortable hearing it. At least when it's just with me" cut me fast.
"Eh.. I'm not b..."
"Sshh.." I cut it again with a wave of my hand hinting I don't want to be denied.
"alright...O.oscar" he said nervously.
"Actually I feel a bit guilty about you. And I'm so sorry about this" he continued.
"What's wrong?" I asked confused.
"Before we met this morning, Oscar said a lot about you yesterday. You know.. About 'something' in your head, about your jumbled memory. I think it's too personal to tell me. But Oscar says it's necessary because it's about your health and what you can and shouldn't do. I feel a bit guilty. I know almost everything about you, but you don't know what I'm about. "
"So now you've decided to tell me all about your life so that we're the same?" my knot.
Jovi nodded slowly and lowered his head. I grabbed her hand and squeezed it gently.
"What's wrong, I don't mind. Well.that's how things are. If there's someone who needs to get that warning, it's Oscar. He's too paranoid, I'm not that fragile" I said with a frown.
Jovi finally smiled broadly at it. "Thanks" said. "For what?"
"Well, for your attitude that considers it ordinary, when it is a big secret, especially I am only a lowly employee in the office. And you..?"
"Heyy.. Who said it? How dare he be, you are my secretary not a lowly employee "I said in an irritated and arrogant tone. Jovi giggled amusedly looking at me.
"Most HRD people at least never say it once" he said.
"Bk.ck.. That's bullying" I said. What do they mean say it?
"yeah. But, what can I do? They're from HRD. It is they who receive the complaint if employees from other divisions get into trouble. So if the bully-an comes from them hmm....."
"Basic crazy.. I'm going to tell Oscar about this" I said impassively. "No!!.. Don't do it" stop it. "Why?"
"Because now the bully-an has been greatly reduced. It's okay" he added while I was still shaking unsatisfied.
"And I don't think they'll dare to repeat it, just imagine, now that I'm the secretary of the Great Eluira Delmora. " Said him while patting his chest excessively and laughing.
Our loud laughter attracted the attention of some cafe visitors who turned curious. With still giggling amused we also walked out of the cafe.
She's a really good girl. Finally I can add one more name in my phone contact.
