Finding You, Again

Finding You, Again
Again 19 - Before We Part Ways

"Does anyone have any idea how we're going to get back on land?"

Dihyan looked towards the still-tidal sea.

"Bee, can you still make your way again?"

The Duke turned his head to the side, but Lui had already closed her eyes while tightly grasping the Duke's feet.

For a moment the Duke worried Lui had fainted. But then he recognized that regular breath. Lui was just asleep.

"After all he is a novice magician, it is only natural that he is now exhausted" Dihyan said.

Dihyan never expected them to come back the same way.

"I've called the helicopter, after that we can think of another way. They will come in half an hour" a cry sounded from the direction of the sea.

Faust was seen sitting not far from them. He waved the satellite phone he had just used to call for help.

Helicopters won't be able to load the rest of the troops, but at least, those who are injured can get help faster. After that the new Duke would think of another way to bring the rest.

Maybe by boat.

Duke was relieved, he did not need to think hard anymore. His body and mind were tired. He just needs to wait now.

"I have to learn if human technology can be of great help" Dihyan said, shrugging his shoulders and then sitting down.

Duke took off his transformation, after leaning on Lui carefully.

Finished wearing the pants proffered by Farjad, Duke raised Lui's head and placed it back on the thigh.

The duke then leaned against the boulder behind him, while looking at the nearly extinguished blue flames. Crispin's body left only ashes.

With kindness, Pyre kept the fire burning, turned it into a huge bonfire, warmed the Hunter and was also imperfect that was not immune to cold air.

"Drink?" Dihyan thrust out a bottle that Duke was sure was made of wood, but it was so shiny, that it looked like glass.

Dihyan had just pulled the bottle out of space magic. Very practical.

"Milk?" Duke smelled the scent, as he brought it closer to the mouth.

"Of course" Dihyan smiled widely.

Duke is not a fan of milk, but does not reject it.

His body is tired and needs food. And it turned out that the milk was very fresh, the Duke handed the remaining half to the person next to him.

"Ops...this drink is not your taste" Duke smiled, when he realized that it was Oulam.

"Thank anyway. I will still count your good intentions" Oulam said, continuing his activities of breaking his broken hand.

"You gonna be okay?"

The Duke did not ask about the state of his hand. He cares more about how Oulam feels, after Hazel's departure.

"I'll survive!" Oluam's voice sounded steady.

"Good!" Duke patted Oulam on the shoulder, while the other hand thrust a milk bottle at Farjad, who had just arrived, after finishing moving Roan's wolf body.

He placed Roan's body near Duke's place, then lightly sat down next to Oulam, drinking all the remaining milk in one gulp.

For a moment the Duke examined Roan, and was relieved to see him still breathing. It is likely that Roan will survive.

Duke returned his attention to Pyre's blue flame.

At this atmosphere, no one else cared what kind of creature was next to whom.

In front of him, he saw some Farkas casually chatting with Hunter as well as Imperfect. They shared their battle stories with each other.

Kamaria showed an ordinary attitude, as one of the imperfects helped her treat a long scratch on her leg. Even Faust received a bottle of water from one of Levana's warriors with a wrinkle-free face he disliked.

He then sees how Farjad unhesitatingly helps Oulam and Dihyan take care of their wounds. Skillfully he brushed their wounds with a makeshift cloth.

Although still a student, Farjad medical science did not disappoint. First aid helped them a lot.

Now Dihyan's broken hand, no longer dangled uncomfortably. Oulam was also very excited, because his pain was slightly reduced, after Farjad tied his wound neatly.

The Duke was excited to see that, he used to be unsure of the Abel Dream Alliance. But now he admits Abel's idea turned out to be brilliant.

The Duke promised to open his heart to other inhumane people. During this time he was too quick to judge because of the ugliness spread by some of them.

"Thank you" Duke told Farjad, as he cleaned the wound on his face, as a result of Crispin's scratch.

The wound will definitely leave a mark. But the Duke did not care, Lui would not mind, if her face became a little uglier.

"For Roan as well" he added, pointing at Roan's gray body.

The Duke did not order Farjad to check on Roan. But he must have felt Duke's worry while they were still connected earlier.

"Gamma Roan will be fine, Alpha. And I prefer this kind of task, rather than the duty of looking after Zhena. This job is not life threatening"

Farjad replied to Duke's thanks, with an unexpected sentence. That sentence still did not erase the courtesy, but it almost sounded as casual as El.

A moment in the Duke's head let him know that Alpha wasn't all that he'd seen. It might be a bit grumpy, but the Duke would only be resolute in his time of need.

Duke immediately chuckled at Farjad's reply, even Dihyan joined in smiling at him.

"Don't worry, after this I will take care of her" the Duke said as he gently stroked Lui's golden hair.

"Don't you want to go back to music?"

Oulam who had just smiled hearing their conversation, suddenly asked Duke.

"Clamorize? Don't tell me you miss my singing?" The Duke smiled obliquely.

"You singing?!!" Faust who was opposite him, replied in shock. He also listened to their conversation.

"You don't know?? This is David Adalrik. Youngest singer and piano player to receive Grammy Award"

"Oulam... keep your voice down!! Anyway he won't know what you mean"

The Duke was a little careless to hear it.

Faust may not understand what Oulam meant, but some Hunters, even some imperfects clearly understand. They looked at the Duke with interest, some whispered excitedly, saying if his guess was correct.

Among them apparently there is a guess if Duke is David Adalrik.

Astonished, Faust looked at his friend who had apparently recognized the Duke.

"Are you really a singer and piano player?" again, still not believing.

"Yes, but I stopped. David Adalrik is dead"

"And I regret it. I'm a big fan of yours. You know that"

Oulam sounded really disappointed.

"I'll invite you, if I ever want to sing again. But I doubt it. Alpha's a time-consuming job" Duke said.

Oulam immediately applauded happily, "I will wait, whenever it is"

"And I'll bet my hands are intact, the young lady who is thin will find out about David Adalrik once she has time" Oulam added in a whisper.

The Duke laughed at hearing that, but he agreed. Seeing how Faust's face was very curious, it was certain that he would find out about David after this.

Well, at least the money's purse will increase again, because the royalties will increase as soon as Faust listens to the song.

"Grandfather will be very happy to see this situation" Dihyan suddenly interrupted.

"Sorrel?" Oulam sounded doubtful. Like Duke, he considered Sorrel a little dangerous and unpredictable.

Dihyan.

"Grandfathers always wanted the inhumane to make peace. After all, you all have Elf blood. He was always saddened when he heard the news of the inhumane ferocity out there. According to him, the violence occurred because of the fault of the Elves who did not succeed in eliminating your wild nature"

The proud face he had shown once turned out to be sincere. Duke will not forget Sorrel's smile as he says the Alliance meeting was the first time he saw werewolves and vampires in one place, with no bloodshed.

"The self-restraint we can take pains to put in" Oulam said. And the Duke agreed.

It would be easier if he let his instincts run wild like the Serbian Stray. But all Blackmoon residents choose to work hard and try to blend in with humans.

It's hard, but most of them succeed.

Perhaps Sorrel's ideals were not very high.

Perhaps one day the Inhumane will live together peacefully, perhaps even with humans.

"After today, I'll ask first before killing the vampire I met" Duke said.

He'll make sure the vampire still runs the traditional way of finding prey.

Oulam let out a wry laugh, "I doubt you'll meet a vampire like me by accident. Our numbers are very few-the fewer"

Oulam looked at about five or six vampires who were almost all severely injured. That was all that was left of their troops, plus a few who were still recuperating the mainland.

"Take more vampires to enjoy life, not survive" Duke suggested.

Survival means you don't have to care about other beings other than yourself. Enjoying life means you have to learn to appreciate the lives of other beings. That simple.

"That's my hope. I will try harder after this" Oulam said.

The Duke smiled satisfiedly at Oulam's promise.

They are only a small part of the whole structure of inhumane life, but they both hope that change will bring better influence in the future.

Without much choice, Duke concentrated all post-war activities at Ted Stevens airport in Anchorage. The role of Seema and her husband is obviously huge in this regard.

They both made sure no human would see the long process of transporting the victim. To make it happen, they can only provide a few hours at night, before the airport is busy again later.

All transportation must be done quickly. And the Duke has planned everything in detail.

Duke has asked Seema to buy the biggest transport helicopter to make things easier.

Helicopters will be able to transport victims from Wales directly to Anchorage. From there, Duke has alerted the entire Monath Jet as well as the Oscar Air Bus, which will transport everything to Quebec.

And Seema complied with it in no time. All required permits, taken care of with high pay.

Seema is preparing three Mi 26 helicopters, which can carry the highest number of casualties. The three helicopters took turns taking victims from Wales to the airport.

Duke decides to bring all the inhumane with very heavy injuries to the hospital pack. Their wounds were too strange to be seen at Monath Hospital in Quebec, where he placed the imperfect and Hunter.

And Sidra's doctor immediately agreed, because that way, he could do the treatment freely, without the need to pretend to be human.

After sending the wounded, Duke will still use the helicopter to transport all the dead.

For the enemy's casualty, who still had body shape and had not been burned, Duke deployed the remaining omega and warriors to clear up.

As for the casualties from the Alliance forces, all of them would be buried in the Blackmoon grounds.

Except Urtzi and Magena. The duke would as much as possible send them home along with the warriors who had recovered. The pack's citizens will need the bodies for the ceremony and more.

He will also send Shashi's body home with Kamaria, and hopes it is his last meeting with Kamaria.

Duke glanced at the red digital clock that winked on the airport wall. The time Seema gave him was only about an hour away. After this, the airport will be filled with human employees.

The helicopter he was waiting for was the last kloter and was transporting whatever was left of Wales.

After doing two trips, only omega, healthy warriors, and did not miss Dihyan, Pyre, Oulam and Faust were in the group.

They all refused to participate in the previous group, because they both considered their wounds did not endanger lives.

Once the helicopter arrives, along with the last passenger, Duke and Lui will return to Quebec using the two remaining Monath jets.

That way all the business here will be done. Duke can go straight back to the pack and take care of all the hassles that are there.

All the affairs in Quebec had been handed over to Seema, and that was enough. Seema is as skilled as Rex. His existence almost covered the absence of El and Rex simultaneously.

"Calm down, they'll be here any minute" Lui said.

Lui pulled the Duke's hand to sit down. He had already seen her fidgeting for hours, and wanted to make her more relaxed. They only had to wait for one more flight, Duke did not need to be that tight.

Duke smiled and slammed himself on the sofa. Tiredly he rested his head on Lui's healthy shoulders. Lui's shoulder next door, still in the process of healing.

"Being an Alpha is incredibly exhausting. How're you? Did you enjoy the role of Zhena today?" he asked, wrapping both of Lui's hands together with his left hand.

"It's exhausting-but at least we won" Lui smiled faintly.

Lui is in charge of selecting who will be taken to the hospital pack, and which will be left in Quebec. It's easy for Lui, because she knows right, what kind of injuries deserve to be in a human hospital.

But after seeing so many wounds and blood, Lui was of course tired and wanted to lay down, stuff for a moment. To make the terrible shadow of war a dream, if he could.

Lui still couldn't believe it, she could endure seeing all the bloodshed as well as limbs drifting. Lui was still horrified and nauseous, but at least she did not faint.

Perhaps Roan was right, the strength of the elves gave him slightly greater guts.

"I'll take it wherever you want, once this is done. Anywhere!" The Duke raised Lui's hand and kissed her.

Of course he knew Lui's fatigue, because he himself felt the same way.

"Where else?"

The Duke nodded, "You forgot we haven't had our honeymoon yet?"

"Oh.... Can we just leave the pack?" Lui frowned in disbelief.

"Of course, but maybe not anytime soon" Duke smiled regretfully.

"I'd guess. Don't worry, I don't need a vacation right now. Sleeping and taking a warm bath will be enough to make me recover" Lui said.

The Duke discussed the trip because he saw him tired. But his call is unrealistic. They would be showered with new tasks, once they reached Blackmoon.

"Warm baths are a great idea. I'll accompany you "The Duke's tone of voice has turned ignorant.

Lui gave a small pinch on Duke's uninjured cheek.

The Duke's guess was very precise, Lui did not mind the wound. According to Lui, the scar did not diminish the Duke's good looks. In fact, according to him, Duke looks more charming.

But Lui wasn't planning on telling Duke that of course. His confidence that had almost touched the sky, no need to be added.

"Lui!!"

That relieved cry, made them jump. All the werewolves around them, it was impossible to call him Lui.

"Oscars!!"

Lui gasped as she saw a small running figure approaching her. Oscar approached her and hugged Lui with relief.

Lui grimaced with pain as Oscar accidentally pressed against the wound on her shoulder. But he said nothing, to avoid Oscar's wrath.

"How did you get here?" duke asked, while removing Oscar's hand from Lui's injured shoulder.

The Duke had to ask, since there shouldn't be humans able to enter the airport at this time.

"He recognized my face, and let me in" said Osar, pointing to Farjad standing not far behind him.

The duke nodded in understanding. That meant he didn't have to worry about leaked security.

"You hurt?" ask her to Lui.

Oscar knew immediately as soon as Duke put his hand away.

"Just a little scratched"

Lui didn't lie, but the werewolf nail scratches actually couldn't be categorized as 'little'.

Oscar looked at her suspiciously, but he chose to turn his anger on Duke.

"Stupid dog! You're not even good at looking after him" he said.

"Oscars!!"

Lui exclaimed tiredly, she did not want to hear their silly quarrel anymore. And Duke knew, therefore he only smiled wryly, not responding to Oscar's anger.

Finally Oscar can only frown, because it does not get the resistance as desired.

"So how? Is everything finished?" ask Oscar, in a more neutral tone.

"Yes.we ended it all" the Duke replied, steadily.

The Duke looked at Lui who was smiling at his reply, too,

"We?" Oscar was astonished by our mention.

"Bee was a big player in this war. Without her, I can't imagine how we could have won yesterday" the Duke replied, stroking Lui's cheek proudly.

He may have hated the fact that Lui had to be involved in this war, but Lui's efforts were one of the many contributing factors to their victory. The Duke will not deny it.

Oscar still looks dissatisfied with the statement. Lui finally recounted a shortened version of how she helped the alliance troops yesterday.

The Duke only listened, occasionally glancing at the clock. The time provided by Seema is only 35 minutes left. They should be leaving now. But the passengers he was waiting for were not yet seen

"Why are you two? Where are the others?" Oscar looked around in surprise.

He must not be used to seeing Duke without El or Roan present.

"El was seriously injured, so was Roan" Lui replied.

Deliberately avoiding Myra's name. He did not want to lose a little Duke smile.

"WHERE!!!?"

Oscar suddenly stood up in panic.

Duke turned his attention away from the clock, and looked at him.

The poker face, which has been proud of Oscar, was destroyed. His face showed pure panic.

"Who?" Lui asked confusedly. He did not understand what made Oscar suddenly panic.

"Rohan! Where is he now?' reiterate Oscar, impatient to see the two of them looking at him with stunned faces.

"Quebec City. He's in Monath's hospital" Lui replied, but she still can't translate Oscar's panic.

Roan's spine was broken, and if an ordinary human were to experience it, it would definitely suffer complete paralysis. But Dr. Sidra guarantees he'll be okay.

Therefore, Lui sent him to Monath hospital. The hospital pack that is not how big is already running out of places.

Roan's wounds are a little inhumane, but with the engineering of medical records, he'll get away like an ordinary human patient.

With Oscar's lightning-quick pull of the phone, "Tony, I have to fly to Quebec immediately. Take care of all the documents immediately. Right now!!"

Oscar ended his call brutally.

"If you want to go to Quebec, you can come with us. We're just waiting for a few more people"

Duke offers the easiest way. One extra passenger won't be a problem, as they all fly illegally. Oscar doesn't have to take care of any licensing.

"But why?" Lui was finally able to ask, after Oscar's panic seemed to recede a little at Duke's offer.

"Ehh......"

It was clear that Oscar was trying to avoid it. He very clearly avoided Lui and the Duke's eyes.

And a thread of memories is attached to the Duke's head.

"You---!! You're the thing Roan was trying to hide?" it was so exciting, not believing.

Roan likes to curse, but his recent swearing habits have exceeded his natural limits. The Duke was of course suspicious, but he didn't have time to think about it because of all the fanfare of the war.

But now it's all clear, it's an oath to hide anything that has to do with Oscar.

Duke also recalled Oscar's strange attitude, when he heard Roan was going to war. At that moment the Duke's mind was full of worries about Lui, so he missed such a big clue.

But now everything is clear, especially now that Duke can see how Oscar's face meets red.

The Duke looked at it in amazement, because he thought this scene was rarer than a panda sighting in the wild.

And obviously Lui thought the same.

His mouth gaped wide, he of course recalled how Roan threatened him when they were with Sorrel.

He had absolutely no idea what kind of thing Roan wanted to hide from Sorrel. It turned out to be Oscar.

Lui also did not expect that Oscar's prank question, about Roan when he married first, would lead to a relationship like this. He never imagined it!

But Oscar is saved from further questioning, by Faust's arrival. His figure is seen walking limping into the airport.

The waiting passengers arrived. There was only 15 minutes left.

They must leave immediately!!

Ignoring Lui's protest of wanting to ask Oscar at length, Duke pulled him towards the hangar.

Oscar looks eager to reject Duke's offer, but Roan's ailing shadow makes him give up.

With a heavy breath, Oscar follows Duke's steps toward the hangar where Monath's jet is parked.
