The figure that appeared from within the circle, looked at everyone present in the library with a wide smile.
"I'm disappointed you didn't invite me to this event, Duke" he said as he stepped forward.
His voice was soft, sounding like the whirring of the wind, but all ears caught it clearly, as if he was whispering directly in front of their ears.
With a simultaneous motion, the Alpha and the Vampire hissed, taking a step back, except, Duke.
"Why should I invite you?" reply Duke automatically, still with fierce narrowed eyes.
The duke was torn between rage and astonishment, as the strange creature called out his name familiarly.
Behind the strange creature, another person stepped slowly. He waved his hand, and slowly a circle of light on the floor where it appeared, went out. Without leaving any marks.
During his 25 years of life as an inhumane, Duke had seen many strange things, but the creature who had just called his name earlier defeated them all.
His height was almost the same as Duke's, with long blonde hair draped out. But that's not what's at the center of everyone's attention in the room.
On his head was a tall horn of colossal size.
The horn was shaped like a deer horn with many branches and was tanned in color. Next to his head, poking taper ears with a shape that is also the same as deer.
His eyes were dark blue, like the color of the water in the deep sea. Her skin sparkled with healthy mature sapodilla. His face looks like an inhumane in general, a type of handsome man with above average beauty.
And as usual, Duke could not guess how old he was. But according to Duke's estimation, he was the oldest of all the inhumane in the room, defeating the hundred-year-old Rigel.
He was wearing a kind of large robe covering his body to the tip of the foot, which on the Duke's nose smelled like a leaf.
Overall, the creature smelled like forests, green moss and plants.
Because of the robe as well, the Duke could not guess how their body shape was, the Duke wished they did not have more than two legs and hands.
One creature was slightly shorter. But it could be the assumption that appears, because his head is not horned. The robes used have a head covering, which perfectly hides the face of the owner.
In a slow motion, he lowered his hood, making Duke able to see his figure as a whole.
Contrary to the horned creature earlier, the color of his short hair was very pale. White with a shiny silver accent.
In the place that should be attached to the earlobe, dangled a form of hairy ears like cat ears with pointed tips. But his eyes were very identical to that of the other man, dark blue.
Two pairs of blue eyes looked at the group in the library with different faces, one with enthusiasm, one with bored eyes.
"You should have told me if you wanted to come. We will welcome you with open arms"
Abel's voice broke the silence and tension, Abel stepped forward then bowed slightly, saluting.
"I want to surprise you, Abel" replied the horned creature, accompanied by a small ruckus.
"You know them?" asked the Duke, in amazement.
Abel is truly a rare human with an infinite inhumane network, even for the kind they are not familiar with.
"Include, this is Sorrel Mounir, the leader of the Apolline Sanctum. And this is Dihyan Mounir's grandson" Abel said, introducing the two of them.
"The elf? They're Elves" The Duke exclaimed in shock.
Afterwards, the room was silent, as all looked at the two comers with their mouths agape. Only two people were not surprised by that fact.
Alva looked at the two of them with a pale face, the look was marked by real fear, her lips were shaking violently as well.
Then Faust, his face looked bored, as if the sight of the two of them was very ordinary.
Faust had already slipped his gun back to his waist.Know there would be no danger. He knew Sorrel like Abel.
Myra who had recovered from the shock, shifted two additional seats, allowing the two of them to sit at the same table as the others.
"Oh. thank you!" said Sorrel, with a friendly smile, looking at Myra's movements.
"You sit down again" he said in a light tone, as if this place was his home.
Everyone present could only obey his words, without speaking. The Duke glanced at Abel once more, in surprise.
An encounter with an Elf was an extraordinary occurrence.
Elves are not ordinary inhumane. They were more like gods when compared to other inhumane. And they're very closed. There was very little information that could be obtained about Elves, both about her figure and her strength. Therefore the figure of Sorrel amazed them.
"I'm glad I'm not late" he said. "You haven't decided anything yet, have you?" sorrel asked, looking at everyone in turn.
"Not yet, we are presenting the reason why we decided to form this alliance" Abel explained, in a very respectful tone.
"Oh, that's good. We need to get to know each other better in order to trust each other" Sorrel said, clapping.
The horns on his head swayed in line with his rapidly moving head looking around the table.
"For myself, because Crispin has gone too far. I more than anyone would not want the existence of the inhumane to be known to man. It will be very troublesome" he added casually.
"A reasonable excuse" said Duke, finally managed to find his voice that was missing for a while. The Alpha as well as his companion who had also regained consciousness, began to nod.
"Now, I will give you an idea of the strength of Crispin's most recent forces" Abel returned to his usual tone of speech, continuing this meeting as if there had been no previous interference.
"According to Faust's estimation, there were over 250 Stray with him. But alas, we can't know how likely it is that a vampire has joined him" Abel said, reading the caption on a tablet PC.
That figure was the estimate given by the Duke and Faust yesterday.
"I can give you an estimate, there are more than 13 vampire clans who joined him, if the average number of a Clan is 10 people, then there are approximately 130 vampires who follow Crispin"
Arkin spoke while staring at Oulam, who was replied with a nod of agreement by him.
Duke clucked angrily. With such an amount, they could easily take over a small country maybe even a continent. The Inhumane that gathered was a disaster.
"Right now there are about 50 Hunters who have been missing for several months without reporting, I will assume they are with him" Abel said.
"And also the witch, a provisional estimate, there were at least two witch coven with her" Abel turned his eyes from the tablet and saw the table had fallen into gloom, except for Duke and Sorrel.
To Duke, he did not care how many enemies. All that mattered to him was Egon and Crispin.
"Hmmm, it was more than I expected" Sorrel said, but his face did not look worried.
"Now is the time for you to tell me how many waror you will give to this war"
Abel prepared his hand for typing.
"Can't we just come at the raid later" Urtzi asked reluctantly.
An understandable reluctance.
Under normal circumstances, announcing how many warriors you have to the other Alpha, would be foolish. Therefore, it is the same as announcing how strong the defense of the pack is.
"That means we will advance in that raid without knowing our own strength? Without any strategy? Just attacking blindly?"
Faust who had been silent earlier, finally spoke in a sharp tone. Exasperated at the sight of how they were still stubborn.
"Moonrise is a small pack. We can only give 10 warriors" Jacy said as she looked at Abel.
"You sure?" abel asked doubtfully. Moonrise will lose a lot, if they all don't survive.
"Yes, and don't worry. We have a few babies to be born during the summer" Jacy said with a reassuring smile.
Inwardly, Duke promised to prioritize the Moonrise pack in his protection. Like her mother, Jacy's too nice.
"Badira, will send 34 warriors" Aygul said cheerfully.
He did not mind granting Abel's request.
"Levana, 45 warriors" said Kamaria short, without any frills.
Urtzi was visibly irritated by this development. Now he had no other choice and had to report the number of his warriors.
"Shavarana will send out 46 warriors" he said reluctantly.
A hefty amount, Inner Duke.
"Celaine, 25 warriors" Rigel replied with a heavy voice.
"Blackmoon, 117 warriors" Duke said with certainty.
"118" Myra replied from the Duke's side in annoyance.
They had argued several times about Myra's participation, and Myra did not want to obey the Duke's orders.
Aygul whistled in amazement at that, but the other Alpha frowned.
The power of Blackmoon was clearly astonishing to them. And as usual, Kamaria looked at the Duke with adoring eyes.
"Mom, you can't come. Who will take care of the pack? And also Lui?" The duke actually did not want to mention Lui, but his mother would not be able to fight back with ordinary arguments.
"Leave Tita, or call Seema" Myra said.
Seema is one of Rex's bodyguards and werewolves, and she almost never leaves Quebec or Monath. The Duke obviously wanted to argue back, but then realized this was not the right time.
The other Alpha who had already had an idea of how powerful Blackmoon was, could only take a deep breath. A little relieved, at least Blackmoon was on the same side as them. For the time being.
"With this, the number of troops from us is somewhat balanced, not to mention if later the Elves will provide assistance" Abel looked at the number with satisfaction and then threw a glance at Sorrel.
"Of course--of course I will send help" Sorrel immediately replied, as soon as he saw Abel's gaze.
But then it was silent, not mentioning how much he would send troops.
The Duke was eager to ask how much power Sorrel would exert in the war, but he held back. He could not yet guess how Sorrel would react, if recklessly asked.
"One annoying fact you forgot to mention, about mutant vampires" Duke said. He brought up the facts that destroyed Abel's hopes.
"Yes-you are right" said Abel more slowly because of his hope, again eroded.
"One more unpleasant fact. Crispin was able to walk under the sun" Abel explained seeing the confused gazes of the other participants, while trying not to sound desperate.
Arkin and Oulam's eyes flashed sharply hearing this fact. While the other Alpha and Kamaria gasped in shock, also Alva who had long been silent lowered her head, raised her head in surprise.
"You're kidding Abel!!" Aygul exclaimed a mixture of disbelief and annoyance. Abel nodded slowly.
"He got it by drinking the blood of an Elf from the Black Forest" Sorrel said, this time his face was not as calm as before.
Dihyan's face was even more sinister, shrinking with fury.
"One sanctum won't give him that power, then he destroys the sanctum in the Black Forest" Sorrel explained further.
"I hope you don't think strangely about following in his footsteps" he added, looking at Arkin and Oulam.
Sorrel's whisper-like tone didn't sound intimidating at all, but somehow the Duke felt threatened.
Arkin shook his head in disdain, while Oulam shook his head with a smile. "I admit that the news is a little tantalizing. But I was well aware, what to sacrifice to get it"
Sorrel looked at them for a while, and then nodded in satisfaction. Believe in their words.
"I've guessed" said Duke.
It took a tremendous amount of strength to be able to change the vampire's fatal weakness, and Elf blood was the most powerful inhumane blood of course.
Sorrel nodded at the Duke's words, "The Sanctum Black Forrest is so weak, Crispin didn't meet much of a challenge during the attack"
"This is very bad news" Kamaria chimed in on Sorrel's words slowly. For a moment, his eyes seemed doubtful. He was a little regretful, having to send warrior Levana to fight a creature as strong as Crispin.
Alpha besides Duke all nodded in response to him.
"You don't worry, Duke will fight Crispin when the time comes. You're a descendant of Dyad, aren't you?" sahut Sorrel lightly, looking at the Duke.
Kamaria who raised her glass to her mouth, stopped the movement in the middle of the road. Now all the table dwellers looked at Sorrel with interest, even Abel who usually knew about everything, seemed to have not known the term.
The duke had absolutely no idea what the term Sorrel had just said meant. But hearing the context of his sentence, Duke could guess which way Sorrel was talking.
His memory was still fresh, how the Alpha of the half-dead Elder Galen wanted to hide the facts about the mate, so as not to invite an insignificant fight.
He glanced at Abel accusing eyes, this fact was a secret. If Sorrel can find out, it means Abel is the one who leaked.
Abel looked at Duke as he shook his head "I didn't say anything" he said solemnly.
So where does Sorrel know?
Jacy and Myra begin to move restlessly in her chair, beginning to realize that Sorrel is talking about Mate.
"What is a Dyad?" Akthar asked immediately. Her nature is a little similar to Arana, always curious.
"Oh... Dyad is the perfect couple. The couple that was there for you" Sorrel kindly replied.
"You mean like a wife?" Aygul asked doubtfully.
"No!" refute Sorrel short.
"You really don't know?" Sorrel asked unconvincingly.
The Duke felt, if Sorrel was already aware, that only Abel and also the Blackmoon representatives knew about this. He was distorting this discussion to his liking.
A few heads shook their heads in response to Sorrel's question.
"Hmm... How should I explain this?"he said, taking his hands out from under the cloak.
The hand looked normal at first, but then the Duke realized, the length of their fingers was unusual. The finger looked thin and was longer than a normal finger.
"Dyad is a term for an inhumane couple destined to be together" Sorrel said, but it's not an understandable explanation.
The frown on their foreheads was getting deeper. "I still don't understand" Akhtar said yet.
"In short, if you had met him, you would have died if you weren't with him" Sorrel said.
"Oh..Isn't that common?" ask Akhtar again.
As Arana's younger sister, she knows how deeply Arana loves her husband. He'll die if he's not with Aygul. According to Akthar it was natural.
Sorrel chuckled softly, "That's because Arana and Aygul are Dyad" he said as he pointed at Aygul.
The Duke was surprised. He knew they were friendly, but did not expect that they were Mate.
"What does this mean? Does a married couple mean Dyad?" Rigel asked in a huff, feeling the conversation was just circling in place.
Sorrel was silent for a while, then looked at all of us closely.
"You know, this is the first time in thousands of years of my life, seeing werewolves and vampires in one room without excessive killing intent. Therefore I will tell you something interesting about your origins" he said, still in a light tone.
As if reality, if he had just mentioned his age was thousands of years was not a big surprise.
Duke squinted, his guess that approximately 200-year-old Sorrel was wrong of course.
Rigel looks impatient, he's lazy if he has to hear a long story. But he also refused to refute an Elf
"Thousands of years before this, there were only two types of creatures that inhabited this earth, namely humans and also elves. Elves are the keepers of the balance of nature. We live among the trees in the deepest woods. Observing the development of the world as well as humans"
Sorrel begins the story, with his delicate voice.
"In the beginning, humans and ef coexisted peacefully, without any significant friction, for humans, elves were simply guardians of the forest as well as animals. As long as humans utilize the forest not excessively, the elves would not bother them"
"But as intelligence develops from humans, they become interested in the lives of elves. Some humans are approaching us. They begged sweetly, that we might share the knowledge and also the way of life of the Elves in humans. At first we refused of course, but humans are persistent creatures"
A bitter smile formed on Sorrel's lips as he said that.
"And yeah-- eventually the humans managed to seduce some Elves, until they got what they wanted. That human learned and also absorbed all the Elf knowledge quickly. In just a few years time, some of them had been very adept at practicing the knowledge gained from the Elves. That's when the first Inhumane was born, the witch. Mention for humans who have the science and knowledge of Elves"
Sorrel smiled again, but his eyes now looked at Alva whose face was paled.
Everyone present did the same, but did not comment further. So Sorrel then continued his story.
"But as you know, humans can also be very greedy. The more they knew about the elves, the more they felt dissatisfied. Because of how powerful humans developed, they could never be stronger than elves."
"And so, one witch named Lonan, decided to develop the knowledge he received from the elves, and began to do terrible things"
Sorrel took a deep breath, starting to show a hint of emotion. His face was filled with disgust.
"Lonan learned to shut his mind, then began to approach the unsuspecting plain elf with his evil intentions. The elves entangled in his net were slaughtered, then viciously, he absorbed their power. He was transformed into a very powerful being, with a feeling of being dead"
Sorrel took a deep breath again.
"The elves are not a nation that likes to fight or fight. Therefore, we realized his evil deeds very late, when Lonan had applied various kinds of forbidden and also terrible magic. Long story short, the vile witch has managed to build an army of various creatures of his creation to eradicate the elves, in order to become the sole ruler on earth"
Before Sorrel continued his story, Duke began to feel a bad premonition, if the story continued, it would not be pleasant. And he's right.
"Lonan created a cold creature from the dead with a body as hard as iron, which needed blood to survive"
Sorrel looked at Arkin and Oulam who were tightening their jaws heard that.
"He also created a beast that came from wolves and humans, with incredible speed and fighting abilities, namely werewolves"
Sorrel is now dropping his eyes on the Alphas.
The story of Sorrel has turned into a nightmare for anyone present in the room.
Rigel could no longer maintain his face, now he looked down at the table. Myra who did not know what to say, covered her face with both hands.
Knowing that the original entity of your life, only created to be a ruthless killing machine, is a severe blow to anyone.
"We finally managed to defeat Ronan, with war as well as sacrifices that tore apart the lives of the elves. The wound we suffered was so deep" Sorrel fell silent again, closing his eyes.
"After defeating him, we can still think clearly not to slaughter all the life left on his side, because as you know, elves are not murderous creatures. We are guards"
"We realized, werewolves and vampires, are living beings who can think for themselves. But being in unfortunate luck is tied to a cruel master. Finally the elves decided to try as hard as possible to 'fix' the creature created by the cruel witch. However, the abomination that occurred was the result of our decision to share knowledge with humans. What we fail to take into account, is how dark the black color is in the human heart"
"We managed to make the werewolves calmer, and reduce the terrible thirst of the vampires. We're trying our best to get them to live a more normal life"
Sorrel's eyes swept across the room.
No need to explain at length, everything in the room knew. They were all descendants of the creature Sorrel had just told them about. And almost everyone does not like this new fact.
"We released all of the Ronan-made inhumane left from that war, into this world. But we know that someday there will be witches trying to use you again. For that we prepared some special places, which we have given protective magic as the place where they live"
"Wait!!" Duke cut Sorrel's story.
"That crystal-you made it?" The duke immediately recalled the magic circle that was in the tower as soon as Sorrel called protection magic.
"Blackmoon was one of the packs we formed and could last until now" Sorrel's reply made Aygul and Urtzi nod in understanding.
But question marks were on Jacy and Rigel's faces.
Sorrel smiled seeing the various mimic faces crying over the statement.
"Blackmoon, Badira, Shavarana, and of course Levana, are some of the packs we used to form. As for Moonrise and Celaine, you guys are the pack born after. Your alphas are no longer related to the Alpha we pointed at"
"Don't worry, it's not a bad thing" Sorrel added kindly, when he saw Rigel and Jacy's faces turning pias.
"Over time, there must be disagreement among the inhabitants of the pack, so they form a new pack. The only difference is, you guys are a little too easy to find. That's it" Sorrel continued, calming them down.
Today, ordinary werewolf packs, such as those of Jacy and Rigel, far outnumber the main pack, which was called Sorrel.
Without the protection magic of the Elves, their pack territory was easier to find by other inhumane. Especially witches. They could easily track and enter the pack territory without anyone being able to prevent it.
Duke glanced at Myra's eyes, and saw understanding enter his eyes. That's why witches attacked Moonrise, they weren't as shielded as Blackmoon.
"I am amazed at you who live without magic protection. You have survived so long from the threat of the black magician. Your lives must be heavy"
Sorrel again added, in a sympathetic tone. Jacy just shrugged her shoulders, because it was all true.
"For vampires, you've long since left the place we gave you. Right now only the Claret is still in the same place isn't it?" Sorrel turned his head towards Arkin, which immediately made him move uneasily. But then he nodded politely.
Oulam obviously knew nothing about this protection magic. The look on her face was like Jacy's when she first heard it.
Seeing that no one else wanted to interrupt, Sorrel continued his story.
"When you let go of your own lives, we hope that you can coexist with humans. But you finally chose your own path. In these thousands of years, your nation has certainly undergone many changes. You who used to be in the power of Lonan, just now hostile to each other. Too bad I don't know what caused it" Sorrel looked at the werewolf and vampire leader with questioning eyes.
But everyone present there would not be able to give an answer. The hostility lasted long before they were born. No one knows the cause.
"But whatever it is, things are slowly becoming normal. Some of you choose to return to being ruthless killers, some choose to live better, like all of you here. And frankly, I'm very happy with your achievements"
Sorrel's tone contained a proud tone, like a father who saw his son win an athletic race.
"Including you Alva, there's no need to cry like that. I know you don't want to get close to the Inhumane world after knowing this fact, do you?" said Sorrel, kindly.
Alva who had sobbed for a while, lowered her head even deeper.
Duke doesn't know about this. All this time he suspected Alva's unwillingness to come into contact with the inhumane due to the cruelty factor of the inhumane.
"You're very shaken, knowing how your ancestors were able to obtain magic power, so you decided to move away from the inhumane circle"
As if reading Duke's thoughts, Sorrel explained the curiosity that flashed through his head.
"That's a pretty awesome attitude. You have nothing to be ashamed of, it's not you who slaughtered the elves" Sorrel said, in an attempt to stop Alva's cries.
"And I'm so grateful that you decided to help Duke a few years ago"
The Duke, Myra and Jacy turned at the same time, even Alva. He raised his face that was still full of tears.
"Oh, no need to be surprised. Of course I knew about it" Sorrel laughed crisply at the shock from various corners of the table.
This fact should not be known by him.
"And what do you know?" The duke who could no longer hold back his curiosity, finally asked.
"You can ignore the Duke's request. But you finally chose to grant it"
Sorrel clearly ignored Duke's question, and continued the conversation with Alva. The Duke gritted his teeth furiously, he was not used to being ignored.
"Ah---I remember my other purpose here" Sorrel suddenly got up from his chair.
With reflexes all present followed his movements.
"Do you mind if this meeting continues tomorrow? I have to go see my other grandchildren" he said, asking for approval from all meeting participants. "After a while the sun will rise"
The Duke wanted to protest in annoyance that none of his curiosity had been answered from Sorrel's story, but Myra held back her hand.
Myra did not want Duke to refute her. Sorrel is still a mystery creature to them, according to Myra it would be best if they saw further what he was going to do.
Akhtar also seems to want to refute, because Sorrel's explanation has not even discussed the Dyad, but Aygul cut his intentions with firm eyes, which Akhtar immediately followed.
The other alphas mostly just nodded slowly.
"Where are you going?" ask Abel.
"I told you Abel, I want to see my other grandchildren. You think you're the only one of my descendants who's here ?" Sorrel laughed crisply, patting Abel on the shoulder.
The duke tried to ignore the shocking fact that Abel was one of Sorrel's descendants, as another statement pricked his ears.
"Here?!" repeated the Duke uncertainly.
"Yes, Duke. I'm going to see the girl who gave you those green eyes. Your wife is my granddaughter, like Abel" Sorrel replied with an increasingly loud laugh, enjoying the flabbergasted faces of everyone.
"But Alpha Theobald's wife is human!" akhtar exclaimed, while shaving his head in confusion, unaware that the fact was a secret.
As for the Duke, he again hoped to have two heads..............
