CHAPTER 23: The Mystery of Rey's Heart

"Who is it this time?" said Gisel.

The mood remains silent. Gisel did not dare to move his body or open his eyes. But, he was too curious to know who was in his room.

Is Tika or Adit back? Or maybe Clara? I don't know. Because up until now the guy hasn't said anything.

"Or don't-don't .. the person who was disguised like that time?," inner Gisel. He almost screamed from panicking too much.

Suddenly he felt someone sitting on the lip of his bed. He felt pressure on the right side of his bed. Gisel suddenly held his breath. He began to think how comatose people should breathe. Is what he did right?

"Everything's home."

Gisel immediately sat down, then exhaled. He caught his nearly severed breath.

"Why didn't you say that, Rey?", snapped Gisel.

Rey laughed at Gisel who was panting from his breathlessness. He opened the water for Gisel to drink from the nightstand.

"Now, drink first ..."

He drank the water Rey gave him. It was like an oasis in the desert.

Five more hours he lay down, without opening his eyes, without motion, and without making any sound. He could not eat or drink because he had to pretend to be in a coma. It's obviously torturing him.

"You want to eat? I bought the food down while Atika and Raditya were here" Rey said again, pointing out the contents of the food box containing Gisel's favorite roast.

Without waiting to be asked again, Gisel immediately grabbed the food box.

"Where do you know that I'm hungry?" asked Gisel after swallowing his first feed. The tender meat adds back the energy lost from lying down for too long.

"Since you wake up, you don't eat or drink anything. Keep lying down again because many are coming. You will definitely starve."

"Om Satrio and the others where?" asked Gisel again with a mouth full of meat.

"They're home. I'll wait here."

"For what? What I need to take care of my body. Go home. Tomorrow morning you still have to go to school" Gisel said.

"I've brought food, now it's been thrown out. Here, give it back!," Rey immediately picked up the food box Gisel was holding. Instead, Gisel recaptured the food box.

"Eh, uh .. don't" said Gisel, inserting another piece of meat into his mouth. "I'm not driving away. It's called attention. Know the attention, right?"

"I'm also paying attention, Gi. You never liked the hospital."

Gisel stopped chewing. The piece of meat he had just cut, was now hanging in midair, as his hand stopped moving.

Rey's right. Ever since he was a kid, he never liked hospitals. He doesn't like the smell.

"Since I became Kanaya, I've tried to like her. Because I can't ask anyone to accompany me. So, I'm used to it."

He then put back the piercing piece of meat on the fork he was holding into his mouth.

Rey, who had been smiling, was now looking deeply at Gisel. Seeing the look on his face, Gisel believes Rey is feeling guilty.

"No need to feel guilty. I'm fine now. I just need to survive here" said Gisel.

After that, there was no more conversation between them. Gisel calmly finished his meal, while Rey just sat at the end of his bed.

"Good God, it's full!"

With ease Gisel held his stomach. It feels good after enduring hunger for hours.

"You don't think the nurse's gonna be here anymore, do you? They were here when Tika and Adit were there" he said, keeping his eyes on the door.

"They won't come again. They don't know what to do to make you aware. So they just checked, then left."

Rey returns to sit next to Gisel after removing Gisel's food box to the trash.

"I heard Adit and Tika talk. What are you going to do next for them?" asked Rey.

"Do what? I'm not gonna do anything. I didn't think to tell them" Gisel said. He got out of bed and stretched his muscles.

Rey doesn't seem satisfied with Gisel's answer. "They'll keep investigating you. Are you okay?"

Gisel stopped moving. "Let me think about that. The most important thing now is Mr. Abraham."

"Mr Abraham?"

"Hmm ... the old man who will be betrothed to Kanaya. I have to think of a way to avoid it. Once I wake up, that marriage will be inevitable. Their decision is unlikely to be overturned" Gisel said.

"Satrio saw the guy earlier. He immediately found out. Mr. Abraham is just a trading company owner. Some of the minimarkets and supermarkets in this city are his. She is known as a teenage girl. If he likes a girl he will definitely offer her a contract to marry him" Rey explained at length.

"Money is the reason. The old man must have offered him a lot of money."

"So you're going to plan on getting up and meeting them?" asked Rey.

"Yes if you can't tell me. Just tell me, how do you share your time? What company? Every day you go to school. School hours are over in the afternoon, so are working hours."

"My secretary will tell you something happened. If I can handle via conference, I will. Sometimes forced to overtime in the office," explained Rey.

Gisel narrowed his eyes looking at Rey. He thought what kind of love was Rey giving Kanaya to the point that she could not get far from Kanaya?

But then, Gisel shifted his gaze. He sat next to Rey.

"But now you know Kanaya is me, so you shouldn't have to worry anymore."

"It is precisely because now that Kanaya is you that I cannot leave you any more" Rey said casually, upsetting Gisel.

"So unbelievable, huh?" said Gisel, staring at Rey. Gisel stabbed Rey with the look in her eyes. But Rey just laughed. Gisel really did not know what was in the man's head.

"Here you lie down. What do you want to say when they come in and see you like this?"

"Surprise?," seduced Gisel.

Gisel and Rey finally laughed together. There was a lot of debate between them all day, and now that they could laugh together, Gisel felt like the day wasn't so bad. She missed when she and Rey could laugh together like this. Regardless of how often they fight.

"Rey ..," called Gisel as she lay on her bed.

"Ehm ..."

"How long have you known Kanaya?"

Rey did not answer. "I don't think it's long ago."

Gisel did not find the right words to describe Rey at this time. He had not known Kanaya for long and now the man did not want to be far away from her. He knows so many women.

"I wonder what Kanaya is? To make Reynard Hardiyanto infatuated with him."

Gisel's eyes grew heavier and heavier, but he still wanted to chat with Rey.

"Crazy?" asked Rey in astonishment.

It was morning already. He recalled again, he fell asleep while chatting with Rey.

"Good morning, sleepyhead."

Gisel awakens, and finds Rey sitting with a book in her hand.

"You didn't come home last night?" asked Gisel. Rey's clothes were still the same as yesterday, of course the man was in his room all night.

"You want me to go home? A nurse came to check on you last night, you were almost delirious. If it wasn't because I was still here, do you think you could have slept quietly all night?"

Gisel held back his laughter. "Sorry, sorry."

"After all, it's Saturday. School's off."

Basically, Gisel also did not remember what day he was not aware of that time, and on what day he woke up. If given the last time he was conscious when he came home from the playground, it makes sense also if it is now Saturday.

"I'll be home for a while to change clothes, after that I'll be back again" Rey said again as she ruffled Gisel's hair.

But then, they were startled by someone's voice.

Gisel and Rey froze. They looked at each other, throwing panic through their eyes. Rey's hand was still on Gisel's head.

Tika immediately ran towards Gisel and hugged him. "It's really you, right? You're conscious, right?"

Gisel swallowed his saliva. He can't lie anymore.
