Chapter 43 - Traces

A total of 93 adventurers took part in the emergency Quest submitted by the Guild Master.

Of the 93 adventurers, there is only one adventurer with A level, Selena herself.

Then the 12 B-level adventurers included the Ironclad group, 25 C-level adventurers, 34 D-level adventurers and 21 E-level adventurers.

Most of the E level adventurers retreat because they feel fear over the difficulty level of this mission. While the rest leave their fate to the ability of C-level adventurers to the top who participate in this hunt.

Expect great rewards in a short period of time. That was mostly the motivation of the adventurers who took part.

But a small percentage of others, feel that stopping the mysterious monster is much more important than the money.

Given how many lives that might be threatened in the future by that monster.

Short meetings are held to discuss strategy as well as other preparations.

"Make the reconnaissance over to our group, Guild Master!" said Rover, a B-level adventurer who has 3 members of C-level adventurers. Each with a speciality in reconnaissance.

"Thank you, Rover. Then to the front line... Ironclad. Dracon. Can you lead them?" ask Selena.

"of course. Leave it to us." Ironclad replied confidently.

"Then to the witch squad, Lyra.... It seems impossible. What about you, Lafael?" selena asked the blonde.

"Hmm, I'll try." she replied with a smile.

Discussions continued on how they coordinated this attack. And how the distribution of power is best done.

Of course, Lucius was accidentally dragged into this.

"Oi, Carmilla. You sure this is okay?" whispered Lucius lirih.

'The woman named Selena is very strong. We can use it to find out the truth behind the mysterious demon.

The main team is divided into three. They moved in a triangular formation where the vanguard was led by Selena herself along with other powerful adventurers. The Ironclad group.

While the two squads on the right and left wings are filled mostly by C level adventurers down. It's only natural that they're a little behind and won't come into direct contact with the danger in the dark of this forest.

The special squad led by Rover himself had moved far ahead while hiding in the darkness.

They figure out the existence of the powerful mysterious 'Hobgoblins' to then report them to the main squad.

Meanwhile, Lucius himself was in a right-wing position along with many C-class adventurers.

"Oi, why is that boy here?"

"Isn't he still a child?"

"Sstt, quiet. He'll hear you."

Lucius did not care what they said. For him, right now the most important thing was to survive.

He was also used to being treated like this.

'Stamp!'

From beside him, an adventurer with long hair and a bow on his back appeared to pat Lucius on the shoulder.

"Lucius...."

The young man laughed lightly before returning to speak.

From his surroundings, Lucius could see everyone trying hard to contain their laughter. Even so, their whispers could still be heard clearly in Lucius' ears.

"I wonder if her parents didn't teach her how the real world works?"

"He thinks he's strong after adventuring with Ironclad lately?"

"Hahaha, he might just be in charge of carrying luggage in the back while crying in fear."

Lucius tried not to be influenced by the words of those people. However, the danger before him was far greater than the scorn of this unknown person.

'Lucius....'

"What's wrong?" ask Lucius lirih.

Carmilla seemed silent for a while. It was as if the word that had been at the end of his tongue had come to a halt, unable to be spoken.

The group led by Selena continued their search. Until finally, after traversing the depth of the forest for 2 hours more....

The rover and his group are seen returning to the main squad. Reported his observations to Selena.

"Guild Masters. We saw a very powerful monster in front. He was preying on dozens of other monsters he had hunted." said Rover.

"Hoblips?" ask Selena briefly.

"No. What we saw was a Ursaloth. But.... That monster is so abnormal." replied Rover.

"Not normal? That black bear?"

"Yes. First, he had a body height of up to 3.5 meters more. Its sharp claws appear to imprint on some trees that have fallen. Then when we saw him, Ursaloth was eating some Thornback."

Selena appears to be propping up her chin with her right index finger. Thinking about the information he had just heard.

If you liken it to what Donner told you before....

"I guessed it. Donner must be wrong. The possibility of injuring his brother was Ursaloth. Hobgoblins happen to be all around her." explains Selena.

"Well! What say! There's no way a Hobgoblin is that strong!" Drakon.

"Given Ursaloth's size, it was likely that an ordinary sword would not be able to pierce through his thick skin. Yeah, now it all makes sense." Ironclad replied.

"Even so, it does not mean that Ursaloth is an easy opponent. Especially if that monster could hunt down dozens of mid-level monsters alone. Prepare yourself!" shout Selena.

"Wuoooooh! Sure thing!" reply everyone.

Selena is seen staring at the Rover while saying something.

"Lead the way. We'll follow you."

"By pleasure."

The second and third squads had absolutely no idea what was happening in the main squad. They only realized that their steps had stopped for a few minutes before returning to walk.

Right towards the mysterious monster that managed to injure the two experienced adventurers.
