The Demon Queen's Disciple

The Demon Queen's Disciple
Chapter 76 - Ruins

'Krrettakk! Kraa!!!'

Lucius walked slowly inside an ancient ruin. A ruin buried deep in the ground.

Almost all of the buildings were completely destroyed. But the structure of the building he saw reminded Lucius of the structure in the goblin cave.

The first time he met Carmilla.

As she asked, Carmilla could only reply with a trembling voice.

'This place was built by the devil. Just like the underground city where you found my soul shards.'

Lucius could feel it clearly. Carmilla is currently in a panic. Knowing that the demonic power used by the Zephyrith was his demonic power, there was only one thing that could explain all that.

That is, somehow, Zephyrith found the ruins that were underground in the middle of nowhere, then defeated the guards mentioned by Carmilla, and obtained his heart.

But in his heart Lucius began to wonder.

If it was true that it was the heart of Carmilla, how could there possibly be a demon willing to guard this place for thousands of more years?

And also, why could the power produced by Zephyrith's medicine be that strong?

Was Carmilla really an ordinary demon as she mentioned?

While still questioning that, Carmilla spoke in Lucius' mind. As if I could read his mind before.

'You know, I'm a magic researcher. I love magic more than anything, Lucius. Might.... Just like you. Watching you work hard, reading hundreds of books non-stop, experimenting with magic, even creating original magic. The longer you look at yourself, the more you remind me of my old self, Carmilla said.

"Researchers.... The magic? Didn't you say the demon race is already very strong and doesn't even need to practice or anything?" lucius asked curiously as he continued walking on these ruins.

In his left hand, a yellowish fireball appeared to provide sufficient illumination for Lucius' journey.

But hearing the question from Lucius, Carmilla could only fall silent.

Before finally....

'You're right. The devil is strong. Because it is too strong, we do not appreciate the power itself at all. That's why the demon nation is destroyed explained Carmilla with a voice that sounded full of sadness.

"Tu-wait. Don't tell me your plan after awakening is to...."

Lucius thought, if Carmilla had fully risen, would the demon intend to resurrect all the other demons? Then start everything back from scratch with better knowledge?

Wouldn't it happen that the world would be destroyed?

Still in his panic, Lucius heard an answer from Carmilla.

'of course! To breathe this fresh air with my own body!' reply Carmilla with excitement.

"eeh? But the air here is not fresh. Even stuffy." Lucius replied.

'Stupid! It was just a mere expression!'

Lucius realized. That Carmilla was completely unwilling to mention her true purpose after being resurrected in this world once again.

But what can he do?

Even if unwilling for fear of the world being destroyed, Carmilla with her much greater mental strength could suppress Lucius' soul easily.

Just like every time Carmilla took over her body.

But not for a few minutes. Except for forever. That might happen.

'Did i.... Has brought disaster to this world? Aaa.... Forgive me, the world.' thought Lucius with a face that looked so lethargic.

Suddenly, his footsteps came to a halt after exploring these ruins for several hours.

No. gabe.

More precisely, it was forcibly stopped.

Just as he thought. Carmilla can easily take over Lucius' body at any time. As it is today....

'Srrug! Naug!!'

Quickly, Carmilla ran into one of the ancient building's rubble piles. Throw everything down using simple earth magic.

Behind the ruins....

The skeleton of a monster that only Lucius had seen from his textbooks.

The size of the skeleton was quite large. With a height that may reach 4 meters more, with a body width reaching almost 2 meters.

Looking from his skull bone, Lucius was very sure of what monster was before him.

"Thorax.." said Carmilla suddenly who immediately knelt before the bones. He was caressing her head while crying.

'Carmilla?' lucius asked astonishedly looking at this other side of Carmilla.

The figure that always seemed so strong and sometimes so arrogant, now looks so fragile and impressed....

So weak.

Carmilla was seen crying for several minutes. Without a word coming out of his lips.

"Hiks.... You have fought well, Thorax. Rest up. I'm sorry I'm 3 years late." said Carmilla as she got up off the ground.

He pointed his right hand forward, casting a spell he had never heard of.

With that reddish-black magic circle formation, the dark red light that appeared slowly swallowed and burned it to nothing.

"With this, I relieve you of this duty, Thorax." Carmilla continued.

Whether by chance or not, Lucius could feel the caress of wind so gently enveloping his body. Before it finally starts to fade and disappear completely.

'Carmilla, just now?' asked Lucius curiously.

"Thorax, guard from my heart. It should have been his strength on par with a hero from Lunaria. But...."

Carmilla turned her gaze to the surrounding environment that was filled with the ruins.

Through those magic eyes, Lucius could see it. The rest of Mana is trapped in this place. All of them were of different colors, as if they were from completely different races.

But what caught Lucius' attention the most was the remaining claw slashes on the various walls around these ruins.

The slash of the claw was not only large, but it also left a remnant of Mana so abundant just for a scratch.

The residual size of the Mana itself was even equivalent to the adult Mana in general. While the number of claw slashes around Lucius alone?

There are hundreds more.

'Is that right?! What is that power?!' lucius shouted in panic.

"Beastmen.... That mad goddess, what she thought gave a blessing of light to a beast." - Carmilla.

Shortly after, Carmilla, who continued to investigate the surrounding environment, found at least 50 skulls and skeletons of humans and wild animals.

'Carmilla, don't say the claw marks.' asked Lucius once more to confirm it.

"The blessed hero of the Mad Goddess Lunaria. Beastmen. Humans are half-beast beasts that can change shape anytime they want. As you can see, his strength is no joke at all. And this is even just the rest of his claws for at least 3 years" Carmilla explained.

Lucius gulped his saliva after hearing there was such a strong hero from another race besides humans. Before commenting, Carmilla continued.

"Didn't according to the map of the continent in this era, they belong to the territory of the barbarian army?"

'Eh? The barbarians? In that case, wouldn't he use his power to damage the world?'' asked Lucius worriedly.

"Stop it. You just ask the crazy Goddess Church adherents. Cih, even in my day he gave it to Humans, Elves or Dwarves more often. But now?"

Suddenly Carmilla's footsteps stopped. He looked at a bright red ice crystal before him.

The crystal had a height equivalent to an adult human body. Looking at it from a distance, Lucius could feel the cold air from the ice crystal.

It's just....

"I guessed it. With the Beastmen's strength, it was naturally easy for them to destroy the seal purely by simply using physical strength. Damn, what am I supposed to do now?" carmilla asked herself after seeing that the middle of the reddish ice crystal had been shattered.

'Don't say....'

"Not wrong anymore. My heart has been stolen. Huh...."

Even so, Carmilla looked ordinary. He wasn't even as sad as it was when he found out his guards were killed by this group of looters.

Precisely.... Carmilla looked satisfied with a smile as she said.

"Lucius. It seems that I will take part in your journey of becoming stronger, once again, from a weak body" Carmilla said with a wide smile.

'Are you on my way? What does that mean, you want to be resurrected immediately?' asked Lucius curiously.

With a smile widening, Carmilla replied.

"of course! Find me a body I can fully control! Don't accept anything under Half-Elf!"

'You realize, that's pretty hard, right?'
