The Demon Queen's Disciple

The Demon Queen's Disciple
Chapter 61 - Betting

"So, are you afraid?" alex asked with an intimidating look. He sat down while crossing his hands in front of some of Goldencrest's nobles.

"What did you say?" ask a man who looks quite old, with golden hair that has started to whiten it.

Behind him, several people with the same golden hair seemed to be trying to hold back their emotions at Alex's words.

Not infrequently some of them tried to pull the sword. But considering the location of this meeting is in a public place, precisely at a very luxurious restaurant....

They kept restraining themselves from humiliating the Goldencrest family.

Meanwhile, Alex was accompanied by only one person who was none other than Albert. Best waiter.

"I told you, I risked all my property, all my land, all the buildings, all my possessions in this city" Alex said with a confident look.

"In exchange if Lucius wins against William, I want a piece of land from you. Precisely Central Plaza is in the square of this city." continued Alex.

'Braa!!!'

"You're crazy?! How much do you think Central Plaza costs us, huh?!" shouted the old man.

"Oh? Is Lord Lonhart afraid? You sure your son William will lose? And also, I believe the weight of my bet is greater with the total value reaching two hundred thousand gold coins more. Even if you are afraid? Just for a Central Plaza?" ask Alex who keeps provoking him.

Central Plaza's.

As the name itself, is a shopping district around the middle of the City of Arcanum. The district is controlled by the Goldencrest family.

With many magnificent and prestigious shops, Central Plaza is the flagship area of the Goldencrest Family to make money from other nobles.

Even so....

Its value is only one-tenth of the entire Brown family's assets. Rejecting him certainly seems to say that William will lose against Lucius.

"Kugghh! This damn boy." lamented Lohart while hitting the table in front of him. Dropped a few glasses of wine in them.

"Tu-Mr Lohart...."

"Well if you're afraid. Just like a child, it seems that his parents are also cowards" Alex said as he stood up from his chair.

He even threw dozens of gold coins on the table saying.

"Here, my pity on you. It seems that the Goldencrest family has fallen into poverty to the point of not risking their Central Plaza."

'Braa!!!'

Suddenly, Lohart hit the table with both hands. His punch was so loud that it smashed the luxurious table.

"So talk to you, snot boy! You think we're scared?! Huh uh?! I'll look forward to the day you cry over all your assets I took!" shout Lohart.

With a satisfied smile, Alex replied.

"Hmph! I look forward to that day too. If it really will happen. Albert." he said as he waved his right hand. Calling his servant.

"Yes, my lord." replied Albert. He stepped forward while handing over the sealed documents from the Brown family.

In the document of the agreement there is a statement regarding this bet. This includes what both sides are betting on.

Emotionally, Lohart as the head of the Goldencrest Family was completely unaware of the details that his gamble was exactly the same as what had just been discussed.

It shows that Alex has predicted everything perfectly.

"Please seal it" Albert said, pointing to the bottom right corner, where the Goldencrest family signed it.

'Babysk!'

After pressing the liquid red candle with Goldencrest's family stamp, finally a formal agreement was successfully formed.

If it rejects him, the court in this City will intervene and become his mediator. A thing that must be avoided as best as possible.

"Curtain! Just look! I'm going to destroy the Browns until I'm no longer left alone!" said Lohart who immediately stepped away from this luxurious restaurant. Along with the other nobles behind him.

"I'm looking forward to it." Alex replied kindly.

After the surrounding conditions were quite quiet, Alex sat back in his chair. Looking at the various dishes and luxurious drinks that splashed in front of him.

Using his right hand, Alex grabbed a glass that was still standing. Throw away the wine in it before asking the waiter for water.

'Lark! Glacier!'

"Well.... The Goldencrest family seems to have really fallen to the bottom huh?" alex asked after drinking a glass of cold water.

"You're right, Young Master. The Goldencrest family was a very successful family. It was even quite acknowledged by the Royal family that is the Arathorn family. But now...."

"Only filled with fools who don't even understand how to make money. Basic, seeing that unkempt Central Plaza in their hands just pisses me off." Alex replies cutting Albert's words.

In a moment's silence, as Albert tidied and cleaned Alex's clothes from the dirt and liquid that hit him....

"Young Master, don't tell me that the reason you made this bet is." Albert said with a worried look in his eyes.

"You doubt my decision?" ask Alex briefly.

Albert seemed to shake his head slowly while smiling.

"No, Young Master. Of course I never doubted you. But, risking the entire assets of the Brown family.... Isn't that too risky?"

Albert naturally questioned that.

The Brown family's assets are arguably one of the largest in the city. If Alex loses the assets built up over several generations by his family, not only will he be harmed by falling poor.

But the balance of power of the nobles in this city will also be destroyed.

The Goldencrest family, which previously had great power due to the glory of its ancestors, will become much stronger again thanks to the wealth of the Brown family.

"Albert. This is a very important gamble to determine the future of the Brown family. Seeing the stagnant condition of the nobility in this City, this is our only chance to rise even higher." explains Alex at length.

Alex seemed to give such a serious look when he said that. His mind seemed to be constantly spinning, looking for the best way to improve the position of his family in this city.

Seeing his Master's serious attitude, Albert recalled.

For the last time the figure named Alexander Brown behaved like that.

"Young Master.... I-i understand. This old man will continue to follow you." Albert replied as he bowed to Alex.

"Hahaha, what are you talking about. When there's no one else, there's no need to stiffen up like that to me. You're forgot? Now I need to review the weapons development for Lucius. Follow me." reply Alex.

"By pleasure, Young Master."

He appears to rise from his chair, collecting gold coins scattered on the table and using them to pay for all the costs of the meeting just now.

For him, it was a cheap price.

If it can bring down the Goldencrest family while increasing the position of his family.

It is like killing two birds with one stone.

But for that....

'Lucius, I'm counting on you. I'll show you how useful I am to you.'
