16. Two Fate

Days pass without anything new or special. I will go to the training ground normally for the recruitment of the knights to come. My mother and father will continue to be called upon to conduct the search.

My father was currently on a quest that took longer than usual, a whole month had passed. I expected him to return at any time now, so I could test the effects of the crystal I had absorbed.

I went home after my training was over on the hill. When I got home I opened the door and could hear my mother crying. I hurried to the kitchen where the sound came from.

My mother lowered her head leaning against the table.

"Mother, what's wrong?" I asked.

He lifted his head from the table and could not stop the tears from flowing down his face. "That's your father, he's sick"

He came and knelt as high as my eyes trying to hold back his tears.

"Let's see him together, I'm sure it'll make him happy" my mother said with tears in her eyes.

He took my hand and started taking me to their room. As we got closer to the room, his grip grew tighter and tighter in my little hands. We stopped just outside the bedroom door.

"Before we get in, I want you to be strong, Ray,"

I nodded in response.

"Your father is sick Ray, don't listen to what he says we should stay there for him" He began to open the door slowly.

My father was lying on the bed. When we entered the room, he didn't even know we were there. Her skin was pale and dry like she had not eaten for days, her hair started to fall out and her eyes were sunken. It's not like any strong man I've ever known.

As we walked towards my father's body, I could hear a few words coming out of him.

"Dreams..it will kill us all.. we will all die...shadows." Father whispered to himself.

I quickly activated my dragon eye skill, the aura on his body had changed from a strong golden yellow to a sinister dark purple color. I've never seen this color before. What the hell happened to him?

I looked at my mother who was looking at my father.

"What happened to her?"

"Let's talk outside"

As we left the room, my father kept repeating the same words over and over again.

We were sitting by the table when my mother explained to me what happened to my father. My father has been infected by something called a shadowy plague. A disease that spread across the continent without a known cure.

He's getting an outbreak on his latest quest. The plague had covered half the continent and his last search had brought him near the border. My dad always couldn't say no to people especially if they needed help.

As I lay in the room, I thought about what had happened to her. I haven't heard of this shadowy plague since I became a dragon. I have important information that I have missed. How long has it been since I changed from a dragon to a human?

I don't even know the state of the world today. I was just obsessed with the purpose of my revenge, I never even thought about what was going on in this world. My family doesn't have many books and my mother has told me all the things I want to know. When I urge her to tell everything, she just says that I will know by myself.

I opened the status window and looked at the skill list. The dragon eye skill and summon pet were there, but underneath it was a value I could see.

It still says 1/1000 even though I have a summon pet skill. I never had this skill when I was still a dragon so it might just be my dragon skill related to this number.

I still remember I had a skill that could clear all status conditions, maybe it would also work on father.

The problem was that I still did not know how to unlock the other skills. I thought maybe the condition was to defeat a new beast but when defeating the mad monkey my skill list did not change.

Even if I knew how to unlock the skill, I wouldn't even know what skill I would get next.

I don't know how long my father can last in his current condition. My mother had to stop working to take care of her. Fortunately they had saved up a little money to survive in these conditions, but when the money ran out, what could they do?

In order to get the answer I want, the best chance is to enter the Roland knight academy. With their help and knowledge, I will find the answer I am looking for.

What is that blackish purple aura and what happened to the world after my defeat became a dragon.

Two weeks remained until the knights arrived in the city looking for candidates. I should be able to get into that academy now. I've lost my family before, I'm not ready to lose another one.

In a cathedral-like church hall somewhere in the country, a group of elders had gathered. They were all wearing white robes surrounding the gigantic glowing orb object standing in the center of the room.

The elders started talking to each other with worried expressions on their faces.

"The forecast has told us this," said one of the elders.

"Yes, but it's hard"

"It's hard"

"We must find the red-haired boy and guide him on the right path, because this boy has two destinies. If we fail, he will bring about the destruction of the world, if we succeed, he will be the savior."

The elders agreed.

"We must inform everyone quickly!"
