Everyone had finished unpacking their belongings and started changing into school uniforms. His uniform is a black and grey jumpsuit. It has little protection and is very mild making the skin easy to breathe.
Students must use standard equipment provided by the school, this includes weapons and armor. We may keep personal items but are only allowed to be carried on special missions and tasks. This is to keep things on an even scale. They didn't want anyone to be strong just because of the equipment they were carrying.
Slyvia told us all to get out of the room while she changed clothes. While standing outside, I noticed there were only five of us. I went to see the names written on the doorstep.
"Yes, they both disappeared, I recognized one of those names but I don't know who Martha is?" said Gary.
After Gary said it was seen a tall, thin man with black hair carrying a wooden stick on his back stopped in front of the door.
"Hey guys, what are you doing standing here?" The man said.
"You and right?" answer Garry.
"Aren't we all men, so why is everyone standing around here.let's go inside."
"It's gonna be fun" whispered Gary in my ear.
"Oh there's a big cockroach in there, but we're all too scared to go in and get rid of it, you don't mind helping us right?" Gary said with his puppy's eyes.
I don't know if Gary did it for revenge against Slyvia or if he just wanted someone to share the same pain he's been through.
"Of course, a future knight should not be afraid of anything"
A little while later Dan had returned out of the door with black eyes and a lump on his head. Gary and the others could not help but laugh.
After Slyvia finished changing clothes, we all went back to the room and introduced ourselves.
Only me and Gary are from the same village. It turns out we have the most ordinary background of all.
Ian had moved from the orphanage to other orphanages, each of which had a disaster that befell him. It was a sad story that brought tears to this room.
It made me think if I had different parents would the same thing happen to me.
And came from a noble family of spear users and wanted to continue the legacy of his family. His weapon was a training stick that weighed a ton. We each tried to take it, other than me and Ian, no one else could use it. Gary could lift the object but could not move an inch afterwards.
The little boy with long black hair covering his eyes only uttered one word "Monk" in the absence of any other response, we concluded that it was his name.
Slyvia also comes from a noble family but they are famous for their magical abilities. Slyvia was born with no desire to prove her worth by becoming a knight.
After the introduction was over, we changed the topic of the conversation amid the upcoming assessment.
"I hate to ask you this, what are the belt colors we can get?" said Gary.
Everyone in the room shrugged and looked towards Slyvia. He sighed at having to answer that question, but I thought he was quite happy to be able to laugh at the stupidity of our group.
"You guys, didn't you all learn anything? First what you need to know is that belts are not a power rating system, it is your potential that will determine your ranking. If from you receiving a red sash that means you have no potential in anything, the school really does not know what to do to you, so you will only get basic training. There are no additional classes for you and you can only find potential in yourself without the help of others." Sylvia explained.
"It doesn't sound too bad" Gary said.
"Yes, if you want to be a loser. I've heard red belts are treated like shit here. They were bullied by all the other belts because they knew the red belts weren't strong enough to do anything about it" Dan continued.
Slyvia continued to speak.
"On the other hand, those who have a white sash. This meant that they had unlimited potential and would receive lessons from the masters themselves."
"So what about the other rankings?" ask Ian.
"If we look at red as the bottom, it will then be yellow, blue and then white. This was the standard ranking of potential bodyguards possessed. Furthermore, we have belts beyond these standard colors which are green and black. Green is for those who excel at archery whereas black I'm not sure, because they always look very secretive and less often than white."
"So, is black better than white."
"I won't say anything, if my guess is correct, black might be similar to green. Where their skills must be useful for something else but I don't know what they are."
"Who would have thought, Slyvia Heart didn't know anything. I never thought I'd see that day" Gary said.
Slyvia raised her fist and threw a punch at Gary's face. Just as the fist was about to approach Gary's head suddenly the door opened.
Lancy was standing by the door.
"Okay, your students have a few moments to get ready. We'll meet in the dining room. We'll have lunch and then a short meeting. After that we'll head to the training field to begin your assessment."
Lancy quickly went to deliver the message to the other room.
Gary jumped into the air and grabbed Ray's shoulder. "Here we go! I will eventually become a knight. Hey Ray, why don't we try being white belt guards together."
Gary was too excited so I didn't respond to him. I looked around the room to see if everyone shared the same excitement that Gary did. Some did not seem to care as it was an everyday occurrence while others had a grim expression on the face. It was as if their lives were at stake.
We left the room and were ready for the test in front of us.
