The Reincarnation of the Red Dragon

The Reincarnation of the Red Dragon
39. Assassin

Mr. K was the first to head to the mansion door. He pushed the giant metal door. As the door opened wide, a gust of wind blew towards us. I closed my eyes as the dust hit me, but when I opened my eyes again, Mr. K seemed to disappear.

"Where'd he go?" said monk.

"I didn't see it, my eyes were closed" Kyle replied.

We all looked at each other without knowing what happened to Mr. K.

"Then let's go in." Gary walked towards the door first without showing any fear as he entered the room.

Inside the room did not look like a place in the city of Avrion, it looked very seedy. The large room almost looked like it had never been taken care of. Unlike elsewhere, they used crystals as tools for lighting, while the mansion still used candles, which made the room very dark.

I activated the dragon's eyes and could see some people inside the mansion but not by much. Although I can't see Mr. K at all.

"What should we do?" Monk asked.

"I think for now it's better if we wait here, if we start wandering around and getting lost something bad might happen" Gary said.

So we decided to wait in front of the entrance. There's no way Mr. K will forget us and in the end he'll be back. Suddenly a sash of red knights came out from one of the doors in the main room.

"Hey, are you guys first year? I saw you guys wearing black belts, you guys were in the right place, don't worry about that." She said.

Gary took this opportunity to ask some questions to the red sash knight.

"I thought only black sling knights were allowed here?"

"Yes, but for us red knight belts, sometimes we are used for messaging communication tools between different departments."

Monk whispered in my ear.

"It looks like we're lucky, I think it's true that they treat the red knights like trash."

"Do you know anything about the black knight?" ask Gary.

"Well, normally I wouldn't tell anyone about this, but since you guys are going to be black knights, it won't do any harm. There were rumors that the black knight was a murderer. That they're on a secret mission as a double agent assigned to kill people."

"That can't be true" cried Gary. He looked annoyed when the red sash mentioned that.

Gary was complaining.

"A knight would never do something as dirty as committing a murder that was unfounded to their opponent directly."

The red knight looked at Gary that he was a naive kid.

"Although some people may think it's dirty work, someone should do it. They played a vital role in the kingdom. With the Dark Guild and the shadow beast plague, they did the job they had to do."

Gary did not respond and clutched his fists tightly.

"By the way, you guys are just going to stay here, the master knight should be here any minute." The red knight then continued walking out of the mansion. As soon as the red sash left, Gary turned towards us and started complaining.

Gary was clearly distracted by what he heard. While the monks and kyle seemed excited, they were glad that they were not chosen as a red sash and would be able to help the kingdom.

"Humans have always been like this, it's nothing new" I said.

Just then a knight came through one of the doors. She had short blonde hair and a beard.she looked a few years older than us, she was wearing a blue sash but she had one gold ribbon on it. The blue knight walked towards us.

"Hi, I am the master of the black knight Joesph, just call me Joe. I will take you to a temporary room for you to spend the night here. Tomorrow we will start training on a clear morning. Usually, you will live in your own house, but for today you will spend the night here.

Joe took us upstairs to the mansion. As we walked, Gary inevitably asked Joe about the black belt.

"Really, that black belt is a killer?"

“While it may not be a job to be proud of, it is true. Usually, we only get about one new recruit each year. It's amazing that we managed to get these four years. Mr. K will explain in more detail to you when the time is right."

Gary didn't talk much either, because he was thinking hard.

We finally reached the door that had a sign inscribed with a blue guard knight. When we entered the room it was even more empty than the one before. There are only 8 single beds nothing else, no tables, no chairs, just a bed with a blanket.

"I know it's kind of empty, but it's just for one night."

Joe closed the door behind him and left us. Suddenly Mr. K was in the room. Kyle fell out of his bed, while the monk covered his face with a blanket.

"Sorry to scare, I have something I have to deal with right away."

As soon as Gary saw Mr. K, he walked up to him to ask the same question as if he could not believe the words of others.

"Truely, that black belt is a killer."

"It seems you're not too happy with the decision. It's true that each of you was chosen to be the ultimate knight because of something special within you that would make you a great killer. Currently the Avrion academy needed more black knights than ever before.

"But I did the test as well as I could, I was supposed to be a white sash" Gary lamented.

"Although you really impressed us all and could easily become a white sash knight, we think your skills are more suited to being a black sash knight."

Gary went to his bed feeling defeated.

"You guys should take a break, tomorrow everyone in the academy will receive the appropriate training for their color ranking.after that we will do the basic training of the group with all the students."

Mr. K then turned towards me.

"Ray, you have to stay put for extra practice after basic practice."

After saying those words, mister K quickly disappeared without a trace, not giving me time to ask what I should actually do.
