After the rising sun, we tidy up our belongings, prepared to leave the inn and continue our journey. Ann was unhappy that nothing had happened during our time there, but Wilfred had mounted an A-class quest in the guild hall like he had promised.
Although I want to see what the shadow beast looks like, but there is no guarantee that the shadow beast is in this city. There were most likely only a few high-level ferocious beasts here.
Horses and chariots pass through the path. We continued forward until Wilfred spoke.
"It looks like there's some bears following us, I don't know how many they are and what type they are"
The bear was one type of Magical Beast that often attacked in groups. Their main features are pointed ears and razor-sharp claws that are about a foot long. Although they are almost the same size as dogs, but still have the strength of an ordinary bear.
"How long have they been following?" ask Delbert.
"Since we left the inn."
Bernardo raised his axe in his hand.
"It looks like we're gonna have fun."
"Let's hope there's no king bear among them."
Wilfred said with his hand now holding the handle of his sword.
If I remember correctly from what my father taught me, the bear king is a beast whose level is above the high, which means it can be said to be an advanced beast.
What amazes me even more is the fact that Wilfred could sense that the creatures had been following us all along. I didn't even know the beast had followed us after my hearing had been improved. The only way I can tell is if I use the dragon eye skill.
"Why didn't you tell us before!"
Delbert complained while looking around to see if he could see any of the ferocious beasts.
"I'm afraid those kids might get scared" Wilfred said as he looked at us.
"Ray, Gary, I need you both to arm yourself, be prepared to fight whatever comes your way. We don't know their numbers so we may not be able to protect you. You'll soon be Avrion's brave knight, the most important thing is to stay alive."
I took out my sword in response to Wilfred's words, Gary did the same but I could see him trembling, for fear of what might happen to us.
We continue to move forward now, after knowing that the ferocious beasts are following us, I activated the dragon eye skill. It looks like there are ten bears, but I'm not sure. The path we walked was surrounded by trees with forests on both sides. Bears use trees to take cover. Makes me lose track of them every time they move.
As we continued to slowly advance, we saw a bridge in front of which was a small river below.
"This is the bridge we have to cross before we enter the gates of Renny" Bernardo said.
The horses started to panic as they got closer to the bridge refusing to move forward.
"There's something that has made them panic!" shout Delbert.
I looked towards the bridge with my dragon eye skill. Now I know the reason why the horses are panicking. Under the bridge stood an eight-foot bear. This was not the only problem as the bear was shrouded in a deep purple aura, just like my father. Meaning most likely this was the Shadow Beast.
The knights had descended from the horses, they had no choice now as the horses refused to move forward. Each of them held their weapons in their hands.
Wilfred with his long but large and powerful greatsword. Delbert held a shield in his left hand and a long sword in his right hand and Barenardo with the axe he always carried.
I had left the carriage with the workers inside and went to join the knights and Gary followed. I need to figure out a way to warn them about the creature under the bridge. Just when I was gonna tell Wilfred. The bears came out of the trees.
The bear jumped towards our group. One of the bears approached me with two large claws pointing at my face. I blocked the first attack with the sword I was holding and was pushed back a few steps by the attack.
These bears were stronger than wolves in the black forest but their movements were slower than the wolves in the black forest. With this I waited for the bear to strike again, with instead of blocking the attack, I moved aside and slashed the beast into two halves.
I looked towards the Knights, who had each killed two bears while I had just killed one. I then went to find Gary who was injured. Blood dripped from his shoulder that the bear had attacked.
When I went to help Gary, the bear attacked Gary again. Gary managed to dodge the bear's paws and the bear's paws got caught between the trees.
After a chance, Gary punches the bear in the face. The bear bounced and fell to the ground, Gary quickly jumped on the bear while carrying his sword and slashed at the bear.
Gary was shaken with black blood all over his hands. Suddenly I heard a scream from inside the car. Two bears managed to get inside and attack the workers.
I ran towards the carriage to help, with the blink of an eye the knights had preceded me at a speed invisible to me. They quickly passed me and slashed at the bears in one strike.
After the bear was killed. I started to relax a bit until I looked towards the bridge. I completely forgot about that Shadow Beast.
Everyone now looked towards the bridge, as the Shadow Beast stood on the bridge. I did know that it was the king of bears, but this one was different from the other king of bears. His mouth was seen emitting black foam, his fur had purple patches all over his body.
"Shadow beast" said Bernardo, panting at the creature.
"Everyone is preparing for battle!" shouted Wilfred.
(For words there is an author to change into English, because for a better mention in English like a shadow beast into a Shadow Beast.)
