The Reincarnation of the Red Dragon

The Reincarnation of the Red Dragon
43. Duels

The training between the students seemed less spirited than the day before and it was for one reason, which was due to the fight between the monk and Gary.

The students were very excited for the ranking match that happened during the day, they guessed who would win the match later.

Kyle had changed this match like a big event, he arranged the time and place where the fight would take place and even set the bet among the students. Gary was the favorite to win the game, but he also gave Monk a good chance, using a black sash as a betting tool.

Of course, this is done away from the eyes of the teachers, they know about the game but not the stakes.

Although ranking matches happen every day, this becomes a hot topic as this includes the number one grudge match in school. Everyone also knew that the monk quickly rose in rank and even though he was currently ranked fifty, his true rank would probably be in the Top Ten.

Most of the students had gathered around the outer training area. The crowd of students had formed a circle that was used as a match area. Gary and the monk face each other ten feet away preparing to start the fight.

I stood next to my roommates, Ian, Slyvia, Dan and Martha, then Kyle came to talk to us.

"So any of you want to bet who's going to win?" Kyle held a piece of paper with a list of names and a box containing money hanging around his neck.

"How could you ask us such a thing, we were friends with both of them, even roommates, I didn't like them knowing we were betting on their matches."

And bet ten coins in Kyle's box.

"Ten coins on Gary won easily."

"And!" shout Slyvia.

"Five coins for my monk, I always prefer the underdog" said Martha.

"I can't believe you two are like this, Ian," Slyvia said.

Ian could not look Slyva in the eye and started to play his hand.

"Don't tell?."

"A lot of people have already bet on Gary being able to win the game" Kyle said.

Kyle then shouted to the students to tell everyone that the betting had been closed and now the fight could start at any time.

"Well, at least I know you didn't bet Ray anything, but I have to ask if you think the monk has a chance to win?" Sylvia asked with a worried look on her face.

"Oh, so you think Gary will win too."

Slyvia did not reply but the look on her face said everything.

"The monk trained harder in running special training than anyone among us. He outperformed us in almost every aspect of training. Although Gary is naturally skilled and can defeat almost anyone, I would say the monk is the worst type of opponent for him right now."

And the one who was listening started saying a few words.

"Well, I fought Gary and lost in less than a minute, to be honest I don't think the monk has a chance of winning."

They faced each other with the two weapons that were already in their hands. Kyle stood in the middle with his hands in the air.

"3.2.1...Start."

Kyle's hand went down to signal the start of the fight, he quickly returned to the crowd.

Monk started out as an attacker who attacked Gary as soon as possible. The crowd impressed the monks moving and attacking from different angles Left, right, bottom up. The impressive thing is how fast he can move from one position to another.

It is impressive because the monk benefits by using his small body size. People in the crowd were shocked by what they saw, but Gary was just as impressive, too, he managed to block almost every attack from the monk.

"Well, the monk worried me for a moment" Dan said.

The monk was tireless while performing the attack, but he soon ran out of stamina and energy and was unable to keep up with his speed. Gary saw this and used the opportunity to strike back.

When Gary counterattacked the monk, the monk seemed to change the direction of the attack with his footwork. His geray now almost moved similarly to that of master K at the time of the knight exam.

Gary found it difficult to track the movements of the monk. Every time Gary would attack the monk, the monk would move before his weapon hit him.

"Spirit Monk! Don't give up!" shout Martha.

The fight continued between the two of them for ten minutes.

"It looks like this match could go on for a long time" Slyvia said.

“No, it will be over soon, our technique is used for murder. Our whole goal is to beat our opponents quickly. Monk knows this, that's why he tried so hard all this time. The second one when it was past ten minutes the monk lost this battle, except..."

Even though I said this to them, there is still a chance for the monk to win the fight. The fact is that Gary had underestimated his opponent during this fight. Gary did not use his full strength during this fight. He had been toying while dealing with the monk making it past ten minutes.

Monk now looked sweaty, whereas Gary barely broke a sweat in the slightest.

"Ready to give up?" said Gary.

The monk said nothing and tried to regulate his breathing. Gary became frustrated at this point and ended up using a full force attack against the monk.

The monk raised his sword to block the attack. The attack was so powerful from Gary that the wooden sword was broken into pieces.

"It's over,"

Just then, the monk grabbed one of the broken pieces of the wooden sword and held it in his hand like a dagger. He moved his dagger at full force towards Gary's neck.

The broken wooden sword had made his weapon sharp. It was no longer the blunt wood we used for training, but a real weapon now. When the wooden dagger almost reached Gary's neck. A hand grabbing the knife stopped him inches from Gary's neck.

That's my hand.
