The Reincarnation of the Red Dragon

The Reincarnation of the Red Dragon
20. Dragon Lovers

As soon as the sun came up, we set out to continue our journey. The weather is cloudy with a little rain. For some reason, the tension between the knights made for a quiet situation, no words were spoken to each other aside from a few occasional grunts.

As we continued our journey, along the road began to appear a thick fog that allowed us to only be able to see a few meters ahead. I want to ask the others where we are at the moment, but it seems like no one is in the mood to speak up and the knights are on high alert.

"Why is there no sign of life here, and what the hell with this thick fog?" I finally asked.

"We received a request while on the way to the village, they told us to investigate this area. One of the residents said that they saw a shadow animal near here" Wilfred said.

"This fog is strange" said Barnardo clutching his axe tighter than ever.

"Most likely this is nothing, there might only be a few mid-level ferocious beasts" Delbert frowned.

Gary started to have a worried expression on his face, it seemed like the encounter with the Wolf had given him the trauma. It was understandable since Gary could not do anything to the wolf beasts in the black forest. It would be hard to imagine what kind of shadow beast it was.

Wilfred could see a worried look on Gary's face and say a few words of comfort.

"Don't worry, you guys have the three strongest knights in the kingdom here to protect you."

As we continued to move forward, I started activating the dragon eye skill. With a thick fog in front of us, we could barely see if we were still on the right track or not.

This way if any ferocious beasts approach us, I can warn the knights in time.

This path is indeed strange, we did not find a single wild beast here, not even ordinary beasts exist.

In front of the fog seemed to start disappearing, as we got closer we saw a figure from behind the fog. What surprised me was that it was a woman, a woman dressed in green from head to toe with a bow on her back. She has brown hair in her mid-twenties.

As the woman saw us passing through the fog, she quickly came and bowed her head to the knights.

"My name is Ann Woodwork. I'm an adventurer from the Goneless guild, are the three of you knights whom we asked for his help?" She asked.

Wilfred came forward with his horse.

"Yes, we are here about the apparition of the shadow beasts in this area, is the fog always this thick here?"

"It's been like this for two weeks, many adventurers who have been escorting traders through the fog have been attacked, and some have never returned. We've lost four members of our union here."

Delbert turned his head towards Bernardo and gave him a questioning look.

"Aren't we just getting through the fog unscathed" Delbert said.

"Maybe the beast sensed our presence" Bernardo replied.

Wilfred continued to talk to the adventurer. They had agreed to stay in the city to see if there were any problems they could solve. The adventurer insisted that we stay longer to solve the problem but Wilfred insisted that we had no time.

Wilfred agrees to conduct a special Class-A quest to kill the savage beast that is inside the fog, and that he will personally give a reward for it. The woman named Ann agreed and showed us the way to the nearest inn.

As I stared around Ann's room approaching me.

“Very amazing isn't it? the owner is quite famous for being obsessed with dragons.”

"Is the dragon real?" I asked him, I know the answer but do not know fully the knowledge of this world.

Just as Ann was about to answer my question, the innkeeper came from behind the bar.

"Of course they are genuine" said the innkeeper.

He started walking towards me and kept talking.

"My great-grandfather has been saved by a dragon, and since then our family has documented everything related to the dragon in this inn"

"Dragon is a mere myth, don't believe such a story" Delbert said from a corner of the room.

"So, don't you believe in Sen the Red Dragon?" I asked Delbert.

"The story was just to scare the kids, at best they just saw a giant wyvern that was made into a story with an exaggerated thing" Delbert replied.

How I wish I could prove him wrong, If I were still a dragon, I would haunt him and follow him wherever he went.

"I see you're a fan of dragons too" said the innkeeper.

"Then let me tell you, they say that Dragon Sen is an evil dragon that destroys everything he can see, but some say otherwise. There was a group of people who believed that Dragons were there to protect everyone. "

"How could it be like that?" I asked even though I knew the truth, I just wanted to hear what the man was going to say.

"Of all the stories I've collected, there's a theory. When dragons ruled this world shadow beasts did not even exist. Now that the shadow beast had appeared here, the dragon was not a mere myth. It is likely that the dragons are protecting us from greater danger. "

After speaking with the innkeeper, the knights paid for my room and Gary and we rested for the night. I couldn't sleep well because I thought about the words the innkeeper said. Although I know some of his words are not true, but it makes sense.

During the time I was still a dragon, those shadow beasts never existed . Dragons are the strongest creatures in the world. The humans have used their numbers to defeat the dragon nation.

On the other hand, this plague was something that spread quickly to humans and easily affected them. Dragons have a number of different abilities and one of them is immune to all status effects.

I'm not sure if it will work or not. Maybe someone planned this? Perhaps humans are just a tool used to get rid of dragons.

With so many thoughts in my head, I decided to close my eyes and sleep.
