"I..." Doddy stared at Diah sharply, clutching Diah's tightly clenched hand.
"Am I wrong if I now doubt that you have the same feelings as me? When I hear you say this, I'm not sure you love me as much as I love you. Why am I. I feel that I'm just struggling myself..."
"Don't.don't say that." Diah unconsciously placed his fingers on Doddy's lips, an unexpected reflex.
Doddy's eyes did not blink, he was no less surprised by Diah's reaction.
Before Diah pulled his hand as consciousness made him nervous himself, Doddy had caught his wrist. For a moment the atmosphere became a little awkward
"Take off..." Diah said slowly breaking the silence,
"If we stay in your car too long, it can be slanderous to those who see us." Diah lowered her face, avoiding Doddy's gaze.
"I just want to hear you, because I'm ready to fight for our relationship if you love me too."
"I hope you listen to your parents more. Whatever they ask, do it..."
"Do you ask me to listen to my parents, even if it means I'm married to the woman in my mother's dream?" Doddy stared intently at Diah, even Diah grimacing as Doddy's hand gripped his wrist so firmly.
"Why not? If you hear them." Diah's reply instantly made Doddy stunned and slowly released Diah's hand.
For a moment they both looked at each other with a cloudy fog that was struggling in each other's eyes. A lot of words they can't say.
"They!" The car door lock opened breaking the silence. When Doddy touched the key, it was as if a gesture that freed Diah from his prison.
"Thank you for driving me..." Diah spoke while sitting upright preparing to come out.
"We'd better not see each other for a while." Then, while opening the car door. Doddy didn't say anything, disappointment like he was leaving him speechless.
Diah got out of Doddy's car hiding his puffy look, his eyes closed for a moment when he closed the car door again, Doddy's frozen gloomy face just stared ahead unmoved.
Diah looked down, she knew saying goodbye was not the right word now, she just had to turn around and leave.
Diah's hands clenched, the dew in her eyes finally melted into droplets, her eyes wet, how heartless she was to do this to Doddy, but Mama Doddy's request could not be ignored, because he knew that was best for both of them.
"Please forgive me..." Whisper Diah while turning her body.
Just three steps Diah walked,
As Diah turned around, Doddy walked up to her and without giving Diah any chance to say anything, he tightly hugged Diah's slender body, only his sigh heard one-on-one splitting silently between the two of them.
Stunned, she felt her nerves suddenly stop responding, the first time in her life Doddy hugged her. Doddy people who can hold back, Diahpun very good at keeping their distance so that they still hold the principle before it might be halal to invite them not to make excessive physical contact. Even for a hug after months of making a commitment in a relationship, they can still take care of each other.
What Doddy is doing now is a surprise, because it's out of Doddy's way.
"You love me, don't you? You really want to marry me because you love me, right? I really hope that I'm not clapping one hand." The sentence was heard in an almost desperate tone, Doddy was not a person who easily conveyed his heart but now he was like a person who lost himself.
Diah bit her lips, her hands clenched, she did not move like a statue, and a moment later, her tears flowed profusely across doddy's shoulders.
"I love you so much, Fadjri..." Finally Diah spoke with a trembling voice. Doddy closed his eyes and cupped his jaws, which felt funny, when he heard the sentence Diah said.
"I love you, I even realized that I should have loved you a long time ago. Tonight was the best thing that ever happened in my life. If I wasn't your soul mate, I wouldn't regret telling you that I love you." Diah spoke again while raising both hands and returning Doddy's embrace trembling.
"I just want to hear that as an excuse to fight for our relationship. I promise I won't let you go, even if I have to go to Multazam, to break my soul mate with the woman in my mama's dream, I'll do it for you." Doddy said with a hoarse voice.
Diah was stunned for so long, trying to digest Doddy's sentence properly.
"I'm sorry..." He whispered the word many times, not knowing what he could say to Doddy.
"Wait here, I'll come back to you. Until that time comes, never turn your heart away from me. I promise I'll come back and ask you to say a qobul." Doddy let go of his embrace slowly, then took a step back looking at the unblinking Diah where he stood.
"Get it until that time comes." Doddy turned around and walked into his car, without saying goodbye, leaving Diah with tears in his own eyes.
(Their love story is actually simple, but the author wants to make it a beautiful and unforgettable love story for the beloved readers.
In true love, there is acceptance, there is struggle, there is sincerity.if you have been able to cross that limit then whatever our status differences, whatever in the eyes of others, may be, no one can deflect it. Doddy may be a perfect dreamer who is not "appropriate" if juxtaposed with Diah, but the author wants to say, there is no limit to love๐ )
