"It's afternoon. You can't go there alone." Dimas refused.
Ail also thought like that since it was already afternoon. The sunlight began to dim and maybe Ail will return home when it was evening.
"Uncle, I'll run fast and come back soon after picking up those things. If I don't take that stuff and bring it home, Grandma will definitely scold me." Said Ail speaking honestly.
Ail lied before but now not because he suddenly remembered Grandma had brought them food. Now the bushel of food was left in the rice field straw hut and Ail forgot to bring it home. Fortunately, Fani came and reminded him of that important item.
Dimas also remembered it, "Balang food was this afternoon, huh?" Ask Dimas to guess.
Ail naturally nodded his head. He was a bit embarrassed to forget about Grandma's food because for Grandma the item was very important and had a fixed use at home. Ail did not want to go home later Grandma looked at him wryly for forgetting her stuff.
"Alright, we'll go back to the rice fields together." Said Dimas decided without any intention of letting go of Ail's hand.
Fani who had been ignored frowned dissatisfied with this result. Though he was quite happy to hear Ail would go away from the two of them because that way he had a chance alone with Dimas.
"Em, Mas Dimas? Can I come to the rice field?" Ask Fani carefully.
Dimas it doesn't matter one person comes along anymore.
"Of course if you don't mind." Dimas.
Fani exclaimed happily and soaked her with a gentle smile. He then walked beside Dimas timidly. Every now and then on the street the village girls would look at him in envy for being able to get close to Dimas, a handsome man who had once worked in a big city with a big salary.
And sometimes also some village men who pas-partner with them look jealous Dimas because it can be side by side with Fani, the village flower that has been much coveted them.
Their focus is always on Dimas and Fani, rarely anyone notices the presence of shy little ones.
Uncle looks very happy to talk to Kak Fani. Inner Ail is sad.
Ail felt Uncle was not this enthusiastic when talking to him. But this was only natural because Grandma said Uncle and Fani were two adults, and she was still a child and did not understand the adult world.
"Uncle... Uncle!" Ail quickly removed his hand from Dimas.
Dimas was surprised, "Why are you, Ail?"
Ail's hand touching her stomach looked a little sore.
"Uncle I want to pee. I can't take it anymore." Said Ail was lying.
Dimas did not see Ail's lie and immediately believed him. But he was confused to take Ail where because the house and rice fields are both far away.
"There's no place to pee here." Dimas said as he frowned looking in all directions.
"Or I'll just take you to the rice field. Uncle can run." Dimas immediately crouched down in front of Ail.
Dimas was always like this. He is a gentle and kind person. Ail thought in this world he had nowhere to go, before. But it turns out that God wants something else. He sent Dimas as his home, a place to fill the emptiness of his heart.
"Mas Dimas don't push yourself. Ail's big and doesn't need to be carried." Fani said sour.
He stared at Ail cynically looking very disturbed. This boy had interrupted his conversation with Dimas many times. He was very troublesome and bothering Fani thought annoyed.
Ail shrunk his neck in fear. Seeing Fani's sharp demeanor had reminded Ail of his bleak days at the orphanage.
He ran as fast as he could to avoid Dimas and Fani.
After running far away, he looked back and did not see Dimas again, either the relief or disappointment he felt knowing Dimas was not chasing him here.
Sighing deeply, he walked slowly around the roadside to save his already depleted strength. His racing heart rate slowly began to beat normally again as he moved. Ail began to calm his worried heart for no reason. And since the atmosphere was more humid than just a moment ago, Ail thought the trip to the rice fields wasn't too tiring. Just look at him now he has arrived at the rice field and met many people who are preparing to go home.
"Why come here again?" There were always friendly people greeting him.
Ail smiled shyly at the female farmer. The woman farmer was Dimas' neighbor in the village and was very friendly since Ail lived here.
"Yes Nek, I forgot to take Grandma's bushel in the hut." Answer Ail politely.
"Oh, then quickly take it so we can go home together." The woman farmer said.
But the tall dark-skinned sapodilla man ripe behind the female farmer wiped their talk.
"Mom better go home with me. Ail will come home with me." Said the tall man.
The peasant woman - or just call it - the mother of the man saw the timid expression of her unusual son and instantly understood the intent of her son. Although Ail is small but Dimas says he is 15 years old, a mature enough age to start a marriage in the village.
Moreover, Ail was rather beautiful despite being thin and small, but this was better than the girls in the village who were picky.
"All right, you young people take the time to talk. Ail, Grandma go home first, yeah." The mother said as she waved her hand at them.
Now that the man's mother has left, Ail and the tall, mature man are here. Though Ail had wanted to refuse but he could not speak because the couple Mother and child had already made a deal.
"Uncle Roni doesn't have to wait for me because I can go home alone." Said Ail politely.
Roni, a tall man with mature brown skin was called Roni. He is a widower who just got divorced a few months ago with his ex-wife who is from the same village.
Roni shook her head. While sitting next to the watering of the rice fields, his hands began to busy tying the sack rope containing some vegetables that had just been picked.
"It's okay. I also had to tie my vegetables before I came home. So while waiting for you, I can finish all this work." Roni said with a big smile on her lips.
Ail can't say anything anymore. Nodding politely, he then went into the hut to take Grandma's bushel and came back to Roni who was still at home tying her sack.
Ail thought tying work was easy but it wasn't because Roni was still struggling in the same sack. In fact, Roni deliberately slowed down his work to be alone with Alsi.
"Ail, sit here." Roni patted the spot next to him.
Ail lowered his head avoiding Roni's gaze. Both of his hands clenched tightly gripping the bushel grip looked strange.
"I'd rather stand here." He said in a very small voice.
Roni thinks Ail is a very shy girl so she doesn't see Ail's strangeness.
"Yesterday, it's very cold here." Roni reached out her hand grabbing Ail's hand.
But before he could touch Ail's hand, Dimas's shouting voice stopped his action.
"Ail, let's go home!"
