When Paul said he wanted to spend time with me yesterday, I didn't know that he meant a whole day, and I didn't realize that until he showed up in front of my house at nine in the morning. I only wore shorts and sweatshirts when I opened the door. My hair is still messy. I'm sure my appearance is not worth looking at.
"Paul?" I said, surprised to see it. He was wearing black jeans and a tight gray T-shirt that accentuated his chest muscles. Wow, I really like this view.
He looked at me with a smile. "Hey,"
"Why did you come so early? I thought we were going to dinner,"
He shrugged his shoulders. "I can't wait to see you, love. I hope you don't mind."
I smile. "Oh, no,"
"This is for you." She held out another bouquet of red roses to me.
"Thank you," I received the flower and pulled it into my nose. "Come on, come on in."
"You look good" he said as he stepped into the house.
I chuckle. "Don't lie. I was just about to have breakfast. Wanna join?"
He's nodding. "I've been waiting for it for a long time."
I grinned. "Sit. I'll prepare your breakfast."
He was sitting in the same chair he was when he first entered my house. I could feel her gaze not moving from me while I prepared the food. This morning I made omelettes, roasted sausages, and nuts. I also made coffee for both of us.
"Thank you" he said as I placed the plate filled with food before him. I replied with a smile and sat down next to him. Louis came to my house last night, but he's still sleeping. I didn't know what he was doing out there until I woke me up at two in the morning.
"How was your day yesterday?" ask Paul while we're eating.
"Nothing special. Just work and get out with Sebastian last night." I'm honest. "You?"
"bad. I don't know what to do here, so yesterday I tried to walk by myself. But shit, I'm stuck in traffic for almost two hours."
I laugh. "You have to get used to Jakarta traffic" I said casually. "What about your job if you stay here?"
She's staring. "I don't have to work, Bianka. After all, I had an offer to coach a football club, I forgot the name of the city, but my manager said it was only a six-hour drive from Jakarta."
I round my eyes. "What's? Whatchu mean? You want to move here? In Indonesia?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "Why not? I want to be with you, and you say your life is here. Isn't this a good opportunity for me? For us?"
I looked at him with a look of shock for a few moments. "You don't have to do that, Paul."
"I knew. I want it, and I'm really serious about my desire to be back with you, Bianka."
"But... What about your mother? Thomas, Ellie, and your other friends? Especially Carl. I don't think he'd be happy to hear this." I asked confusedly. I don't want him to ignore anyone else for me.
"My manager arranged this before I left Germany, and my mother didn't mind. Thomas can also understand my situation, because he asked me to come after you here" he explained. "If it's about Carl and my other friends, it's not a big deal. Thisismylife. I have the right to decide where I'll stay."
My eyes wander around his face. I can't believe he's really this serious about restarting our relationship. He was willing to leave his life and family in Germany to move here. For me. I think she must have known that if we spent more time together, then I would go back to her. It was only the third time I saw her after three years and I felt my body already begging for warmth from her. I glanced at his lips. Oh, my God, I really want to enjoy those lips.
I forced myself to lower my eyes. I don't know what to say.
"I know we're just getting started on this" Paul said softly. "But I'm ready to continue my life with you whenever you want. I'll marry you again today if you say yes."
I'm staring. "You're really serious" I said slowly.
"Of course."
I propped up my chin with one hand while thinking about his words. "Are you proposing to me?" I felt my heart beating faster.
I closed my mouth with both hands, looking at her in surprise. She showed me the engagement ring she gave me first, the ring that belonged to her grandmother.
"Oh, Paul..."
She smiles. "Love, I'm not forcing you to give me an answer right now, but I want you to understand that I really want you back."
I swallowed spit. "You're not fair."
"I never said that" He winked at me.
It's too fast. And, there's one problem I haven't told him about my father. All this time my father didn't know that Paul left me for the first time because I failed to look after our son, he only knew the reason Paul was saying, that he had an accident and didn't want to burden me with his circumstances. Things would turn terrible if my father heard about that day.
I never told him that because I didn't want him to hate Paul. I always thought Paul would come back to me. Well, in the end he did come to me, but not at the moment I wanted to.
"Love..."
I shook my head. "There's one thing you need to hear" I said seriously. He put on a worried face, waiting for me. "My father never knew that you left me when I lost our son."
Paul frowning. "Then?"
"It won't be easy for us if he finds out. He always thought you were divorcing me because you didn't want to burden me, and I never said the real reason you left for the first time before the accident." I explained in a worried tone.
"Lantas, where's the problem, Bianka?"
Oh, my God, it's not gonna be easy. "I know him, Paul. Trust me, he'll be against our relationship if he finds out about the events of the day. My father won't accept you anymore."
"Does he have to know that?" said confused.
"No." I replied. "But, I'm not sure someone can hold their mouth. My mother, Louis, my cousins, and many others know why you left according to my version. I didn't know that you had an accident, so what I told them was that I was angry with you. As for my father, I haven't been able to tell him, and he never asked me why. Until the night I got back from the hotel after meeting you and your mother, I just found out that you called her first and told her that you had an accident. Until now he believed it was the reason we split up." I explained.
He was silent for a few minutes thinking about my explanation, then nodded his head. "All right, I get it. I can understand your fear, but please don't stop Bianka. If your father doesn't believe me, then I will try to make him confident and accept our relationship. I just need to make her believe, right?"
I gulped, looking at him carefully. "alright. I don't know when, but that day must come and we must prepare for it." I murmured seriously.
Paul nodded. "I love you more than anything in the world. You're the only woman I want to accompany me to old age" she said, looking straight into my eyes. "If it wasn't with you, then it wouldn't have happened with any woman. Trust me, love. I always loved you."
I shake my head with a smile. "You're unbelievable."
He grabbed the ring from the counter and put it back on my finger and kissed it. "I love you, always, Rapunzel."
"Did I miss something?"
We turned to look at Louis who was walking into the kitchen. She just woke up with a puffy face and disheveled hair. Louis looked at Paul and I took turns with wide-eyed eyes. "No way."
"Convince him to accept me again, can you?"
"You didn't take it?" Louis asked, surprised. I smiled without saying anything.
"Let me help you," Paul stood up as I carried the old dinner plate to the sink. "We can do it both to old age."
"That sounds nice," I replied, turning the tap.
"I'm still here" exclaimed Louis from beside the refrigerator.
"You hear something?" ask Paul, pretend.
I nodded, follow the game. "Maybe a single ghost waiting for this house,"
Louis groaned and cursed while Paul and I laughed. I wish I could feel this warm atmosphere every day.
