20. A Jack Calvin

The inaugural match of this year's Welcome Tournament had been started by a fierce fight between the two groups, making the spectators quite excited, even some of the Guilds who had come were seen discussing watching the match. But of course the large Guilds that got their own room did not look interested, considering they had come to see the best Blazer seeds from the best.

The preliminary match is a group fight that requires them to keep a crystal ball from being destroyed or taken by the opponent. If the crystal ball can be retrieved or destroyed, then the group will be declared defeated automatically. Naturally if their members were unable to fight or declare surrender, they would lose.

The time limit of each game is half an hour, if in that time the crystal balls of both groups are in the same condition or have not been taken then the winner will be determined through how severe the condition of the members of each group.

"The battle is quite fierce, but their abilities have not been able to attract large Guilds," Heru commented watching the match from the screen, Haikal and Salvia nodded in agreement.

Indeed, if viewed from the abilities and techniques of the two groups it can be said to be great for the size of Blazer candidates who only entered approximately one month ago, it could only be considered 'little' good in the eyes of large Guilds.

The opponents of each game will be determined randomly and will be notified shortly before the game starts, quite suddenly and reap protests at first. This is done because Verg can attack anytime and anywhere, so the academy provides this situation so that students can act as soon as needed.

Salvia and Heru nodded at Haikal's opinion, at least they wouldn't be so hard-pressed against the winner of the match.

After the match the lawyer immediately randomized the group that will compete next, a few moments later selected two groups that fight in the second match. Great cheers accompanied the selection of a group.

"Uwah, I didn't think he was selected in the second game." Heru's face became sour when he saw the selected group that was none other than his group of lovers, Verna Galvoria.

On the other hand Haikal was slightly stunned to see the members of this group. Not only has Verna been his best friend since childhood, but also Jack Calvin, the flashy young man he recently met through ceremonial punishment a few weeks ago.

"Haikal, this is going to be the first time we've seen Verna's ability, huh?" Heru sounded enthusiastic to know the strength of his lover that many people talk about.

"Yes, but I think that would be the problem not only Verna in her group," Haikal commented, she noticed something strange about Jack's expression, making Salvia and Heru frown.

Jack put on a calm face not bothered by the slightest cheers, even he smiled as if this was a normal thing for him, while Verna and one other girl who was their member looked a little nervous.

As soon as the two groups were in their respective positions, the lawyer gave a warning to start the second match.

The opposing group contained three girls who looked unhappy towards Verna, then took out their Soul Arc which was both Wizard-type and attacked the Verna group using various magic from a distance.

The amount of magic from the three girls can be said to be quite a lot for the size of High School students, making the audience excited to see the magic of the three are quite large and fast, and the timing is very appropriate.

"Huh, a lot of it too." Jack smiled faintly in response to the amount of magic coming at them, "Verna, Cecil, let me face them." Without waiting for the approval of Verna or the girl named Cecil in his group, Jack takes out his Soul Arc which is a pile of cards.

"Card pile? What is Soul Arc?"

"Will he throw the card at the magic? Isn't he stupid?"

"He was so confident that he wanted to face them alone."

Some spectators laughed amusedly even some mocked him as soon as they witnessed the shape of Soul Arc Jack, but Jack himself did not pierce them and took one top card from the stack of Soul Arc cards.

"Hehehe, I'm lucky." Jack only gave a small smile before the card he took disappeared into the green energy grains that were absorbed into his body.

Blaar!!

A huge explosion created thanks to a number of magic hit Jack while making most of the audience laugh, especially the three girls who laughed cynically felt Jack was just a 'sharp empty barrel sounds'.

"Why are you laughing? Shouldn't I be laughing?" The voice rang out loud from the dust puff of the former explosion just now, making the three girls and the laughing audience speechless a thousand languages.

From the dust puff of the explosion marks the figure of Jack who was not injured in the slightest, even still standing upright without shifting from his place.

"How can you?!" One of the girls who attacked Jack couldn't believe his eyes, thinking Jack should have been seriously injured or at least walked out of the arena. But what does he see now? Jack stood up straight without being hurt.

The spectators who had been laughing mocking Jack were now speechless other than great gawking could not believe their eyes.

"What's going on? Their attack missed?" Salvia slightly widened her eyes feeling that Jack standing there should be an impossible thing, even she felt that it was impossible to stand that straight without flinching a bit.

"No Salvia, all of their attacks hit Jack in a landslide." Haikal commented on his seat answering Salvia's question, but he could not understand why Jack could still stand up straight after receiving all the magic attacks.

Although it was hard to believe, Salvia and Heru could only be dumbfounded to watch the screen in front of them as well as hear Haikal's preposterous statements in their ears.

The three girls who had previously attacked Jack then launched another attack, this time a lot more than before, "Try to avoid this if you can!"

Dozens of magic darted rapidly from the three towards Jack, but the blond-haired handsome young man was completely unperturbed towards him, instead his lips widened a smile that should not be made in this state.

"No need to dodge, I'll take all your attacks." After saying that Jack folded both his hands in front of his chest waiting for the magic attack to reach him.

Once again a big explosion was created, but unlike before this time there were several small explosions following after it.

The three girls smiled broadly feeling confident Jack had been defeated, but moments later the third smile faded as he watched Jack still standing upright, not moving a single inch from where he was standing.

"What's? Is this all three of you're power?" Jack raised his eyebrows in surprise, after which he sighed in disappointment before taking another card before him, "Alright, I'll end this quickly."

Just like before, the card he took instantly turned into a green energy grain that immediately seeped into his body. After everything had settled in perfectly, Jack then raised his right hand upwards.

On top of his hand formed a green ball five meters in diameter quickly, sending all the spectators wide open, even the large Guilds in their rooms were stunned to witness that.

"Evoid or endure, whichever you choose you will still lose!" Without wasting any more time, Jack immediately threw the green ball towards the three girls.

The three girls immediately panicked about to think of having to choose to dodge or endure. If they dodged then the crystal ball behind them would be crushed by the ball, but if they chose to defend they were not sure they could survive this attack

When the three just wanted to choose, the green ball that Jack threw was already in front of their eyes.

Blaar!!

A huge explosion is created once again, but this time the creator of the explosion is Jack who is the only man in the arena. One explosion threw the three girls out of the arena while destroying his opponent's crystal ball.

Moments after Jack's big bang brought silence throughout the arena before lawyers declared the winner stammering, "The winners are Verna Galvoria's group...."
