Absolute Soul

Absolute Soul
7. Meaningless Effort

"I'm out of energy?" Haikal asked in astonishment when he heard himself faint during the trial session summoning the Soul Arc.

"You're too immersed in your concentration, aren't you?" Andre confirmed Haikal's condition before the young man confirmed his question with a nod.

It is true that Haikal's condition seems very weak and powerless, but why can this happen?

"Using the brain in various things will be more tiring than physical activity, this also applies to the power of the soul. The longer and deeper you concentrate, the more energy your soul absorbs." Andre then explained the dangers of using excess soul force.

"The power of the soul is actually the power of the mind, our mentality as human beings that can be manipulated with feelings and suggestions. Every human being has a different capacity and quantity of soul energy."

Andre glanced at Salvia, Edward, and Anna who according to him had the highest quantity of soul energy in the class before continuing the explanation, "By using soul energy, we can cross the limits of normal humans and summon a Soul Arc, which we can call upon, but it's all paid for."

Andre rose to his feet, fixed his gaze on all of his students.

"Soul Power and Soul Arc are double-edged swords for us humans. When we continue to use our soul energy to the limit and run out of nothing, then our life energy will be the substitute. Like what happened to Haikal." Andre closed his explanation session.

While the disciples were focused on Haikal, the attentive young man lowered his head while pondering something in his heart, "Indeed the sensation of summoning a Soul Arc like that, huh?"

"Sir, I want to ask." Not wanting to be overpowered by his curiosity, Haikal raised his hand to look at Andre.

The young man in his 20s with blackish brown hair was a little surprised by Haikal's reaction which was far from his estimate. He predicted that the young man would become frightened or even traumatized after hearing the explanation, but that did not happen at all.

Andre allowed Haikal to ask.

"When you call Soul Arc for the first time, what kind of sensation do you feel?"

Haikal's question invites curiosity and surprise from other students considering that none of them have managed to awaken the Soul Arc so far, even after concentrating on instilling personal reasons in each other's hearts. Andre was no less surprised by the question.

Andre folded his hands in front of his chest while holding his chin trying to remember the sensation in question, "If not mistaken you feel drowned into a puddle for a while, after that you can see the form of Agnov and immediately reach for it. When reaching for Agnov, you know you've regained consciousness."

Getting an answer to his curiosity, Haikal nodded slowly. The sensation he felt was also more or less the same as Andre's experience, but he had not seen the form of his Soul Arc like Andre's portrayal.

Before his curiosity developed, Andre added his explanation, "The deeper and longer you sink and find your Soul Arc, usually your Soul Arc will also be stronger. However, to take the Soul Arc it takes a soul energy that is not small. Everything is directly proportional."

Haikal clenched his teeth when he heard Andre's next explanation. He actually felt like he had drowned for quite a while, but to find the Soul Arc in that bottomless ocean would take how much soul energy?

He realized that he did not have the quantity of soul energy because his soul power was not so great, then how did he get his Soul Arc with this condition?

He sighed too much thinking about unimportant things. Haikal already knew that soul power had little effect on physical training, but could soul energy be further developed?

"Ah, yes, I'm fine. It seems that my energy is running out." Haikal tried to hold his hand as hard as he could, but he could not bring out more energy.

"You better rest here while watching others, maybe you can learn," persuaded Heru that his best friend was to rest for a moment.

The pitch-black haired young man only nodded according to accompanied by a wry smile. He then took a comfortable position to rest near the walls of the hall. From there Haikal watched his classmates train, but there was no significant development from them.

Haikal sighed, then took his student card from his pants pocket to pay attention to the soul power statistics and the Job category that he could take later, "Soul Arc in the form of a sword, huh? Job market."

True, Haikal's Soul Arc is a sword, a Soul Arc that is the most among the other Job Warrior categories. Although he had expected that this would happen, Haikal still felt a little disappointed knowing the truth.

"With a soul without this privilege, can I still be a Blazer?" Haikal looked up at the ceiling with a smile.

Although Haikal looks like a madman for smiling for no reason, not many know that the smile contains sadness.

As he daydreamed of the possibility of his bad future, a commotion broke out among the students of grade 1-A.

"That's great, Salvia, Anna!"

"Generating the Soul Arc on the first day, only geniuses could do it!"

Salvia and Anna again make a furore in their class.

A beautiful bright blue snowflake that should only be seen under a microscope was hovering over Salvia's hand. This makes students fascinated by the beauty of the form of Soul Arc.

Contrary to Salvia, the Anna Soul Arc in the shape of a long glove of my side with a pattern of red flames along its lower arm gave off a dangerous and intimidating impression. The other disciples gulped in thoughtful saliva in the future Anna would become one of the respected Blazers in the world.

Shortly after Salvia and Anna awakened their Soul Arc, Edward and Heru followed at about the same time. It seemed 'flashing electricity invisible' when the two exchanged looks made other students not dare to comment and stay away from them.

Haikal looked at Heru who had already awakened his Soul Arc with an envious look accompanied by a deep sense of disappointment, "When talent and hard effort are put together it will be like that, huh?"

Haikal's chest became increasingly crowded and sick to see the development of his best friend who increasingly left him. At the same time, worry and uneasiness came crashing down on him thinking about his fate.

"Heru is getting further away from me, will I eventually be left alone in this pit of despair?" Haikal muttered softly staring at his right hand while putting on his sad smile.

His only average soul force stats, the soul energy that was unable to summon the Soul Arc, there was now a possibility of companions since his childhood leaving him. What else makes it worse than this?

As the disciples continued to make a furore, Haikal huddled alone near the wall of the hall, "Nonsense Usaha."
