Absolute Soul

Absolute Soul
45. Jack vs Anna

Thanks to Anna throwing dozens of punches in a short period of time, Jack could only defend without trying to attack.

Currently Jack uses a Third Diamond card, which is three times his endurance than normal. Jack was lucky this time to see Anna's attack so fast and heavy. If Jack takes another card like Clover or Heart, maybe he can immediately lose on the first attack.

"It's very heavy on your attack." Jack sighed after Anna's backlash was over, feeling a slight pain in each of his limbs, while Anna herself stopped attacking to take a breath for a moment.

Anna's punch was indeed strong and heavy, but Anna did not have the great stamina to sustain the intense attacks, moreover, she was not a pure Warrior-type. Anna is a Blazer candidate with a Wizard-Warrior mixed Job.

It had been about a minute since Anna had launched her successive attacks on Jack, but the handsome blonde-haired young man did not look in pain or anything like that. Quite the contrary, his lips curled a smile of excitement.

"It's over?" Jack took out one of the Forbidden Magic Cards hovering around him and turned the card into energy that was absorbed into his body, "Anna, you're confident in close combat, aren't you?"

Anna could only silently try to regulate her breathing as quickly as possible, but it could be clearly seen a displeased expression on her face. Jack could tell Anna's answer from the expression.

"I'm not underestimating or trying to play you, so don't let me down, yeah." Finished saying that Jack suddenly disappeared from the view of the entire audience, including Anna, then reappeared right in front of the red-haired girl in an instant.

"First one punch!" Without wasting any time, Jack launched a heavy blow right in Anna's heart, sending the girl bouncing a few steps back without reacting.

Anna's small grimacing endured the pain, but once the pain began to subside and she focused her attention on Jack, the young man once again disappeared from her sight without a trace.

"I'm here." Jack who suddenly appeared behind Anna immediately swept his opponent's legs, then launched a kick strong enough to throw back Anna in an instant.

Almost all the people who watched this match were shocked at once stunned, not even a few Guild representatives present gaped involuntarily. The thing Jack did was simple, but not many Blazer candidates were able to move as fast as Jack just now.

"How can he move so fast when his Job is not Rogue type?" At this moment Anna's expression did appear to be in pain, but in her heart she was shocked half to death with Jack's speed of movement that could hardly be seen by the common eye.

Generally, those who have speed like Jack are currently only Rogue-type Blazer candidates, considering that Rogue-type Jobs emphasize agility and agility in fighting against enemies, but it should be Soul Arc Jack Support type or at least Wizard.

The reason why Anna was confused by Jack's unreasonable speed in her head was simple, Job Jack was still not widely known.

In the world of per-Blazeran information about the Job, Soul Arc, and the abilities of a Blazer is very dangerous if spread in the public, considering not all Blazer aims to protect mankind from Verg invasion.

For ordinary people, the value of information may not be so valuable, but in the world per-Blazeran this can affect the flow of a fight. With Job and his Soul Arc abilities known by the dark Blazer organization, a Blazer can be threatened with his life, especially the 'golden egg' that appears in this tournament.

Indeed the Soul Arc is a sign of someone worthy of being called a Blazer, but in this case Haikal who has not awakened the Soul Arc-it is the most benefited.

While Anna was still struggling in her position trying to endure the pain, Jack seemed to have no intention of waiting for the girl to get up.

"I've suggested you give up at the start of the game, so don't blame me." Jack sighed feeling heavy in heart had to attack his acquaintances up to this extent, let alone Anna being female.

Jack and Anna had known each other before being accepted into Skymaze Academy, but the two did not get along very well in the present due to a certain incident, even though they were arguably childhood friends.

As an old acquaintance Jack doesn't want to hurt Anna too much, which is why Jack suggests Anna give up before the game starts, not because Jack underestimates her.

"Who... would give up?" Lirih Anna while pushing her body rejecting the floor tried to get up, but her body seemed to reject her wishes. She knows her own limits, but Anna chooses to ignore them.

Jack could hear Anna's little screams, but he pretended not to hear them. Jack sighed heavily for a moment before stepping closer to Anna's body curled up on the stadium's perimeter wall.

When Jack arrived near Anna, he could hear the sobs of the red-haired girl. Jack's expression changed as soon as he heard Anna's small cry, no more smiles on Jack's lips as usual.

"Anne." Jack could feel Anna's sadness from the sound of her crying alone made him feel like giving in intentionally, but Jack knew if he had done so then Anna would never have forgiven him.

"I'm not strong enough...." Said Anna raucously, making Jack feel even more compassion to win this match, "Still...."

For a few moments neither Anna nor Jack moved from his place, Anna who felt defeated was accompanied by despair and Jack who continued to hear the cry of the girl without doing anything.

It took some time for Jack to reaffirm his heart by taking a series of breaths, then giving a final strike right at the nape of Anna's neck, leaving the girl helplessly lying on the floor without awareness.

"The winner is Jack Calvin," the lawyer explained quite loudly, but there was no usual tone of spirit in those words. He could sense there was a pitiful air around Anna and Jack, but he did not know what it was.

The announcement of the winner from the lawyer was quite shocking to the entire audience, not expecting this long-awaited match between geniuses to end much sooner than expected.

Most of the spectators were dissatisfied with the results of the match so fast and boring, but not a few were satisfied to see this match.

"Jack, you're hua—" When Verna wanted to congratulate Jack who had just returned, her words came to a halt when she saw Jack's sad face. It's not like Jack is always smiling.

Cecil can also see the strangeness in Jack like Verna, but the two choose to keep quiet not asking anything, at least until Jack is back as excited as before.
