The day was near noon when we arrived at the Mahesvara residence, entering a large, high-fenced courtyard made of pointed solid iron at the top. I got out of the car and looked up, looking at the big house in front of me.
The large house was well-rounded, looked luxurious and majestic, but not flashy and not flashy. The building is tall even though it consists of only two floors. The outer wall is golden white, painted neat and clean. The front door is double brown with two doorknobs in the middle.
On the second floor there is a terrace surrounded by wrought iron and glass windows are beautifully designed. The yard is full of neatly mowed grass. In front of the terrace is a row of large pots containing flower plants. And, in the corner of the house, there is a downhill road whose width can contain two cars. I'm sure that road leads to the basement.
"Come," HansH whispered to me. He stood on my right side and grabbed my hand and took me to the door. I was clumsy, some family members were already standing there to welcome my arrival. Including Nandini. With smiles and hugs, they welcome me as a family member even though I am not officially a part of them.
Trying to be casual, I smiled back at all of them, then, HansH introduced them to me.
"Because you forgot the memories, so I'm going to introduce them to you again" HansH said.
First, he introduced Aunt Heera. Woman in her fifties, beautiful, and wearing a saree. From her genuine smile, I am sure she is a very kind, loving and sincere aunt. I touched his feet as a sign of respect. Then, next, HansH introduced his youngest sister, Parvani. 18 Year old young girl. Beautiful, fashionable, graceful and sweet.
"And this is my sister-in-law" HansH said, holding his hand on the man's shoulder. "His name is Vikram, Nandini's husband."
The man held out a handshake to me and I greeted him. From my first observation, I was sure they were all good people and would not complicate my existence in the Mahesvara family home.
There are still two people who have not been introduced to me. HansH's first sister and her husband. They are not home or do not want to welcome me? Maybe he was what was meant by Mr. Sanjeev at that time, who did not like Alisah for some reason.
"Come on," HansH said again after the brief introduction. We all walked into a large room with a high ceiling with many lights that turned yellow.
The first thing I saw was the living room. Just like Indian homes in general that are often shown in Indian drama series, the living room is large and equipped with luxurious furniture. A soft-looking brown sofa is arranged around a rectangular table with all four legs carved in the shape of a horse. The curtains are also brown, revealing white vitrase that covers the window glass. And no less dominant among others is a large staircase that is exactly in front - in the middle of the dividing wall between the front room and the back room. The grand staircase to go up to the second floor with ivory yellow marble is shiny in color with the floor in the house.
"Let me show you where your room is" HansH said.
I nodded and followed him, we passed the barrier between the living room and the family room. There are two paths that can be passed, one on the right side of the stairs, and one on the left side of the stairs. HansH invited me through from the left side, while the others passed by from the right side. In the family room there is a closet with several levels of shelves and with items that are neatly arranged, also equipped with a complete home theater, in front of him is held a brown fur carpet in line with curtains and a sofa that looks slick when illuminated by yellow lights on it. The sofa is smaller, definitely devoted to relaxing while watching television.
You know, there's something that caught my attention the most in this living room, a line of photos that adorned the walls, filled all sides of the wall, both on the right and on the left. Old photos to recent photos, from HansH's grandmother and grandfather, from his mother's side as well as from his father's side. I watched him for a moment. No, I even stopped when my eyes were fixed on the old picture frame. Photos of my foster mother, sister Sanjeev. Even though in the photo he was still in his twenties, I could recognize him well. And the man with her in the photo, I believe it's a picture of HansH's father, Sanjeev's real father. I swear by anything, his face is very similar to that of Kak Sanjeev. If only Mr. Sanjeev had dressed up in old-fashioned hairdo and old-fashioned clothes like in the photo, there would have been no difference between the two. His father was not similar to HansH. HansH is more like his grandfather, his mother's father.
Tears flooded my eyes when I saw the photo. That means HansH and his sisters know that their father has two wives, and even his picture remains on display in this house. Next to the picture frame of their father with their biological mother, too. That means they assume the existence of their father's first wife, right? Brother Sanjeev should know about this. Perhaps his heart would be slightly touched, and it was possible that he would not continue this mission of revenge. I hope that. I hope so, God....
"What's wrong?" ask HansH.
I shook my head, I wiped my tears and I said, "I'm just sad. I don't even have a picture of my father and my real mother."
"I have. I'll put it for you."
What he meant was a picture of Alisah's father and mother. Not a picture of my father and my mother.
I'm nodding. I turned my eyes around the room. From this living room I saw many doors going in all directions. On the right side, I could look towards the kitchen and the large dining room with a set of elongated large tables and surrounded by elegant wooden chairs, where Aunt Heera, was, Nandini and Parvani busied themselves to prepare lunch, while Vikram parked himself on the sofa and watched television. I can estimate that on the sides of the house there are still many rooms that have not been seen by me. Obviously on the right and left side of the house there must be many rooms with their respective functions.
However, I was stunned when HansH shifted the back door we had to go through, the door that had been opened actually led us into an open room, like a terrace, like, but it is wider - just as spacious as the living room, with walls on the right side and on the left side which also has a door leading to another room: a warehouse on the left side, and a barn on the left side, and a room for sports on the right side. There are relaxing sofas in this area, a cozy place that is still sheltered by the ceiling of the building above. Meanwhile, on the front side - I mean in front of where I stand - plong without walls, where a large and long pool stretches from right to left with rows of recliners around it. And, across the pond, there is a row of separate buildings consisting of two floors, like tiny European-style villas. There are seven buildings there.
I was honestly dumbfounded, and, also confused. The buildings in front of me were like separate buildings from the main building of the house despite being in the same area and surrounded by high walls. The building functioned as a residence for family members, and only the footpaths on the left and right sides of the pool that became a link between the two. The trail is lined with beautiful natural stones and roofed with clear alderon.
"Actually I want to put you in my room" HansH said giggling. "But Auntie will definitely pick me up if I take you to my room."
He made me shake my head while he was thumping. "Say you're a gentleman who will respect me. Time to ask me to stay in the room before I get married?"
"I'm just kidding, honey...."
"So quickly accept my proposal."
"Start...! You crazy guy!"
"But this crazy man loves you very much, Alisah."
Aaah... start, huh! He made a red tinge again adorning my cheek. HansH was grinning widely, showing off his charming smile.
"Make it like a villa or pavilion, it's up to you" HansH explained as we walked down the left-hand side of the path, his hands actively pointing towards the tiny, luxurious buildings. "Auntie occupies the fourth building, which is in the middle. The building next to her, the second, was occupied by Sheveni and her husband, Vicky. And the third building is occupied by Nandini and Vikram. The first building is empty." He took my hand and walked to the right side. "And over here, the fifth building, it was occupied by Parvani, and I myself occupied the sixth building. You'll stay there with me when we're married. But in the meantime, you'll be occupying the very end of the building. It's a bit far if we pass from the left side, so go from the right side."
I grunt. "Why then are you taking me on the left side?"
"Of course the reason is simple. Because I'm happy if you walk beside me, because we're a very compatible couple, aren't we, sweetie?"
Yuuu...! He's the sweetest of the dreadlocks.
"Well, over here." We reached the last building, the seventh, and HansH opened the door with the key that Aunt Heera had given him. "The building at the end there, the first one is usually occupied by his sister Vicky if they stay here. So you're here, next to me. And it actually has to be next to me. I won't be able to get far from you."
I was bearded, smiling at his words. But, in my mind, I also thought: had Brother Sanjeev lived here with his family, he would have occupied one of these buildings as well. A building that is functioned for resting alias only rooms consisting of two floors. The first floor is only one room equipped with a large bed, a work desk as well as bookshelves, a set of sofas and wooden tables, a television attached to the wall, a refrigerator, and so on, also equipped with a bathroom that blends with a dressing room. Of course there are bathtubs, showers, and also hot water.
"The top floor for what?" my many. "What am I saying is up above?"
HansH glanced towards the stairs. "Both room only" he said. "One adult room and two rooms for children. Just like the others, all other pavilion forms were exactly like this. There's no kitchen here, because it's just a place to rest."
"Interesting" I said. "But why are there only two children's rooms? What if we have a lot of children, sori, I mean if we have more than two children and they want to have their own room? They're fighting each other, aren't they?"
HansH smiled. "Don't worry, honey. That's not a problem. If we have a lot of kids, we'll" his words stopped.
"If we had a lot of kids, would we? What's next?" I smiled cheerfully.
HansH nodded with a strange expression. He approached me and took my hand. Kinda awkward. "Yes. But. emm.I mean.it doesn't matter if you have a lot of kids. If the children in this family are teenagers, especially for boys, they can stay in rooms in the main building. On the second floor, there were many empty rooms. We used to occupy it, I mean before my sisters got married. After we got married, we moved here. To be impressed that we have our own roof, and each has their own privacy."
"Why is that?"
"Because brother-in-law remains brother-in-law."
"meaning?"
"You see, other than their wives, they are still not muhrim to the other women in this house, including to Bibi. At first I, Bibi and Parvani still intend to stay in the main building, but because it is not good for Sheveni and Nandini, we do not want this decision to alienate them, so yes, it is, we all moved here. You got that, honey?"
Back, I nodded. "But is this not too far to the front page, if we are in a hurry, for example?"
"There's a basement in the left-right corner. And, yeah, take it easy, honey, your feet won't ache, let alone me being on standby for you. Want a massage, ma'am?"
Euwww.. he was deliberately seducing me!
"Receive my proposal and you will soon be my queen" HansH whispered fondly in the ear. "I love you, Alisah. Love you so much."
Uuuuuh. I must avoid.
