That night, I had to sleep with a fan that reminded me of the SD days in Surabaya. The nostalgia of my childhood happened in this tiny room.
Sleeping with a cotton mattress is my memory when I was at the sewage house in Purwokerto and Wadaslintang, so it was never a problem for me.
That night, I was able to sleep soundly, until I heard the simple shubuh adhan.
In the morning, like most new daughters-in-law, I also felt a confusion about the habits in this house.
"Mom, what breakfast is it usually? Later I masakin," I said to Tyo's mother who was in the kitchen cooking water.
"No, buy it later. Later at 8, usually the lontong salesman passes by, there is the pecel too, later the mother buys it," replied Tyo's mother.
Meanwhile, Tyo and his father were washing clothes next to the house using a 2-tube washing machine and a few buckets filled with water, while at my parents' house, we have replaced 2-tube washers with 1-tube a few years ago.
For the business of washing manual or with a machine, I can also, because I also do it when in the sewage house, during Lebaran holidays.
I also took the initiative to help.
"Son Lina, what's the matter? You've been inside, it'll be all wet here," forbid Tyo's father.
"No papa, sir. I used to be so holy, if now holy like this is in the house of Simbah, in Purwokerto same Wadaslintang," I replied while helping to brush clothes.
"Was Lina used to wash clothes?" ask Tyo's father.
"Yes, it's normal, sir. If the maids come home, I am a holy rame-rame, trus for the task of cleaning, also cooking. If I help you cook a lot of times," I explained.
At that time, I imagined when all the members of the Tyo family gathered together, it must be very familiar and exciting like in the Sewah house.
"Son Lina," call Tyo's mother.
"Yes, ma'am" I replied and immediately approached her.
"Yu'Mar who sells breakfast has come, what will you buy?" I asked her while holding some empty plates.
"I'll see, Mom. Want to choose your own," I answered while taking some 10thousand pieces in my wallet.
True what Tyo's mother said, the breakfast menu was arranged neatly in a basket made of woven bamboo.
"Son Lina, like pecels?" ask Tyo's mom.
"Likes, Mom. Like in this basket, everything I like," I replied.
"Buy everything, Yang," said Tyo who suddenly appeared from the living room.
"Everything?" askaku.
"Yes, who all love to buy," said Tyo again.
Without me noticing the food vendor's symbol was watching over me and Tyo.
"Lho, this is Tyo's wife, huh?" ask the symb.
"Yes, Yu. This is Lina's son, Tyo's wife" replied Tyo's mother.
I smiled at the symbol, but in my heart I asked, "Kok know Tyo?"
"It's called Yu' Mar, it's still around here, in the alley across the mosque, so it's still a neighbor as well" Tyo whispered in my ear, as if he was reading my mind.
"Beautiful" said Yu' Mar, which made me blush.
"Mas Tyo, will his wife be taken to the garden?" ask Yu' Mar.
"It's Allah, Yu'" replied Tyo.
"Honeymoon in the garden, dong? Can I have a baby, huh?" it was Goda Yu' Mar who made me want to finish this breakfast transaction immediately.
"Yu', I want the pecel, the pencil is just as lupisnya as well. Fried bakwan equally know the contents," I said.
"I want the fried vermicelli to be the same as lontong," added Tyo.
"Mrrrl?" ask me confused, because I did not see any lontong in his trading.
"Yes, that's lontong," Tyo pointed at a market snack wrapped in banana leaves.
"Mrrt? This is mah arem-arem" I said.
"If there is no lontong content, polosan, long trus," I continued.
Mother Tyo and Yu' Mar also laughed lightly at my words.
"If in Jakarta, arem-arem is also commonly called lontong, lontong isi," explained Tyo's mother.
"Oooo," I said.
Then swiftly, Yu' Mar moved his wares to the empty plates that Tyo's mother had prepared.
Pecel, fried noodles, vegetable bakwan, tofu, cenil, lupis, arem-arem and fried vermicelli were held at the dining table which was only enough for 2 people.
"Come on, breakfast first," take Tyo's mother.
I also took an empty plate for me and Tyo.
"Hmm pecel, lontong same as bakwan aja," replied Tyo.
Tyo and I had breakfast in the living room while watching TV.
"Mas, do you often make breakfast?" my many.
"Lumayan, if again at the gathering usually buy rice sitting here, usually the mother calls the person," replied Tyo.
"If that, he has his special fried food, fried oncom, very tasty tuh," continued Tyo.
"Oncom fried? Hmmm not sweet," I said.
"Yes like this snack in the village," continued Tyo.
"Hmmm a village in the middle of the metropolitan city of Jakarta, which I have never explored," I said.
The lifestyle of the Tyo family and how I grew up was indeed quite different. For breakfast, as long as I live with my parents, buying breakfast only happens when traveling, while when at home, we always cook by ourselves. Either my mom or PRT cooked it. Sometimes I help prepare it too.
This simple breakfast food is delicious, because of snacks! Yes, snacking in the morning without leaving the house is a very pleasant thing.
Finished breakfast, I swept the floor of the entire room in Tyo's house which was probably only 1/3 of the 1st floor of my parents' house, so it didn't take long to finish. Tyo continued by mopping.
"Mas, what are we going to do today?" my many.
"Oiya, Mas wants to go to the head office, there's a short business. It's 10 o'clock, '" replied Tyo.
I saw a clock hanging on the wall.
"Now at half-time 9, uh hunting for a shower!" I said as I walked to get a towel and immediately went into the bathroom.
While I was taking a shower, I heard a strange man's voice in my ear. Looks like a guest came to visit.
I opened the bathroom door a little, to call Tyo.
"Mas !"
Tyo immediately approached with a hijab and a dress for me.
"You know what I'm calling you for" I said.
"Yes know dong" he answered.
"Who, Mas?" ask me while closing the door.
"Om Andi, his brother who lives next door," replied Tyo.
"Still long? Replace dong," continued Tyo.
"Ntar, another huff," I replied.
"Mas andukin deh, let's spit," teased Tyo.
"Yaa kaaalii is so cute, ntar ask for plus-plus, ogah!" my answer.
I also went out of the bathroom in full Muslim clothing.
"Ish, uh when's the first night?" whispered Tyo.
"Yeah!" I answered while encouraging her to go to the bathroom immediately.
We did not have a husband and wife relationship until the third day. I myself am quite surprised, if there are newlyweds who can do it right on the first day they get married.
To hold hands alone, the shame spread to the crown. Although I know, it is part of my duty to obey and obey my husband, but I do not yet feel ready to do so.
That morning, we went to the head office of PT. Light Golden is located in the Thamrin area, after which we spent time walking around the mall, without shopping.
Ba'da Maghrib, one by one the family of Tyo's older brother came, to have dinner together and also to get to know each other better.
All the daughters-in-law, busy in the kitchen to prepare dinner, because all the daughters-in-law who come are women. While the husband mbak Retno, has returned to work in Batam.
"This is true, if we gather, the mother's daughter-in-law is no man, whose man lives far outside the island," said Leni's mother from Purnomo mas.
"Yes, the trusses whose faces are all the same in the family room, most discussed party," added mbak Cici, wife of the Dedi mas who made me laugh.
"Oiya Lin, leave for the Medan when?" tanya mbak Nur the wife of mas Mukti.
"It is Allah, Saturday, that Sunday may be a house" I replied.
"Do you know what your house is like?" ask mbak Nur.
I answered him by shaking my head.
Tyo then replied, "The house is large, there are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, plus 1 bathroom in the main bedroom. The kitchen has a stove and a plate rack. What to bring sheets, curtains."
"Eh buy curtains first dong!" myrag.
"Easy, buy ready-made curtains at ITC, nice and cheap," replied the mother.
"Yowes, tomorrow to the ITC to buy curtains with sheets," I said.
