Self Healing

Self Healing
Episode 28 Introduction

Monday, was the first day I had to be home alone, just befriending the voices of the show on television. I didn't care about the show playing, because I wasn't interested in seeing it. I just needed a voice to alleviate my fear, being inside a house this big by myself.

I began to busy myself by trying easy snack recipes to practice, namely cakes, snack cakes a million people who are always in the market. It's just that I don't use paint prints, because I don't have them yet, instead I just use the usual little teflon wok to fry beef-eye eggs, so as to produce a round-shaped paint like pancakes.

"The form is not important, the important thing is the taste!" I said in my heart.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door, I immediately put on my headscarf, before I opened the door.

"Assalamu'alaikum."

"Wa'alaikumsalam" I replied.

After I saw, it turned out that the mothers I thought were the wives of PT staff. Light Golden, come to the guest.

"Let's Mom, please come in" I said to let them in.

"Thank you" they answered.

"Excuse me Doctor, we... "

"I'm sorry but I'm not a doctor, who's my husband's doctor," I cut off to correct their call addressed to me.

They laughed at my words too.

"Mother doctors can be funny too, yes," said Bu Bagyo, wife of Askep or Chief Assistant.

"I'm not a comedian, but it's a fact, I'm not a doctor, the doctor's my husband. If suddenly I was called by the call of the doctor, but never studied medicine, it is not fair the same as the real doctor. Just call me Halina" I said.

"Or Bu Tyo alone, it seems more appropriate," said the real Bu Bagyo I do not approve, but for the comfort and tranquility of the mothers of the plantation staff, I just smiled to respond.

Of the faces in sight, I estimate they average between their early 30s and early 40s. Then, pleasantries filled our introductions.

Then they started to introduce themselves one by one, this is where my memory was tested. Memorizing names and faces is not my specialty.

"Bu Tyo is from Jakarta?" tanya Bu Bagyo, wife of the assistant head (askep).

"No, I grew up in Jakarta but both of my parents are native to Wonosobo, Central Java," I replied.

"But I've lived in Jakarta for a long time, since I was in 6th grade, about 13 years ago" I continued.

The conversation continued until it began to appear that there was jealousy and covert competition among the garden mothers.

"Bu Tyo, before here what activities?"

"I'm an interior designer" I replied and I guessed that they didn't know what interior design was about their faces.

"Oh from which university, if I may know?"

"Ooo obviously can know dong, I'm arrogant," I said in my heart.

"I am a graduate of Brisakti" I replied briefly.

"That's the time of '98?"

"I just got in and my sister just graduated" I replied.

"So you saw what happened?"

"Alhamdulillah no, right when the events of '98, I just graduated high school, so also yearya from my brother and his friends. Yes at the beginning of the entry was also reported by the same senior how to grieve him at that time, so yes only able to imagine aja. The story is also more disturbing, because the classrooms used were also hit by bullet shots from the apparatus that still left a hole in the glass window."

"From the stories of the seniors who were on campus at the time of the incident, we can imagine the situation as gripping as it was on the battlefield. The panic and fear of the senior brothers at that moment when they heard the sound of the weapon eruption and saw their comrades suddenly sprawled with blood," I replied which made an instant of silence.

I deliberately told him, to end the conversation that would lead to a show, to show his greatness. Sure enough, soon they say goodbye.

Time did not feel passed, the day was already approaching dzuhur. While I was in the room, I heard the sound of Tyo's service car entering the courtyard of the house. I prepared a drink for him and opened the door.

"Assalamu'alaikum" hail Tyo.

"Wa'alaikumsalam," I replied and I kissed his hand and he stroked my head, which of course my reflex immediately shook his hand.

He also remembered, "Oh sorry, sorry, forgot," he said.

"No papa. Drink first, Mas," I said.

The two of us sat together in the dining room, and Tyo asked, "So the assistant mothers came home, huh?"

I answered him by nodding my head.

"Trus who's here, you know?" ask Tyo with a smile.

"Hmmm want to ngetes, yes I know, I can at least nginget the names and faces of new people! hmm but if I can, I'm given what gift?" challenge me.

"Hmmm what is it? Just kiss!"

"Didnuts ogah! I'm a kid, got a kiss gift!" my protest.

"Yes, I'll buy some bread. Want some bread? If you want, later in the afternoon we go outside, buy bread," said Tyo.

"In the Right River, don't ask the left where!" said Tyo who seemed to be reading my mind.

"Yes, get caught" I said, pretending to be upset.

"Late this month we go to the region, whatever shopping you want," said Tyo to entertain me.

"Okay, whatever, you know," my challenge.

"Yes, whatever," Tyo replied for sure.

"Eh Mas, we're already overseas, why go to Rantau again?" my many.

"Rantau Prapat, cantiiiik," Tyo replied as he pinched my cheek.

"Oo, chat dong!" myrag.

"Laa, is this not a conversation?"

"Oh yeah, are we talking?" I asked a prank that made Tyo almost pinch my cheek. But I was too fast for her, because I managed to avoid her with a serving hood.

"What kind of shield is that, anyway? Already, sit here, Mas promise not to say anything, deh!"

"All right, Scout promise?" candaku.

"Yes. Yuk, sit here," asked Tyo.

"Oiya, but Sunday morning this week, we go to the tennis court," Tyo continued after I returned to sit next to him.

"Want to play tennis?" my many.

"There was a welcoming and introductory event. There are new assistants, all acquaintances dear too," replied Tyo.

"Well, that was it?"

"Officially tomorrow, there's the manager's wife too, it wasn't there. So Sunday morning, get ready for the second reception" said Tyo.

"Kok know, there wasn't a manager's wife?" many wonder.

"That is, because the manager's wife often went back and forth between Bandung-garden, because her children all went to school in Bandung," replied Tyo.

On the weekend, exactly a week after I arrived at the Kebun, we both headed to the tennis court to attend the welcoming event and the introduction of new staff at PT. Golden Light.

The tennis court has also been transformed into a meeting place. Actually, not right on the tennis court, but in the building pendopo located next to the court that has been transformed into a buffet area of various small and heavy snacks.

This was the first time I saw the faces of the family members of the plantation staff. We both look different from all of them, probably because we are both under the age of all of them.

"The doctor's mother is cute, very young," there was a soft voice from the group of mothers and I pretended not to hear it.

Being in a new environment with new faces, made me suddenly want to hide and disappear. Moreover, this time we both became the center of attention of dozens of people.

"To dr. Stump Prasetyo, the time and place we gave up," a voice MC called out to Tyo.

"Come on Yang," asked Tyo to follow him, then I stood next to him and a bit behind, this made him pull my hand so I could stand on a level with him.

Tyo began to give a short greeting, before he introduced me to the large family of Langga Umbrella plantation.

"Deliver, this is my wife. Her name is Halina Ramadhani, commonly called Lina and do not call her Doctor Ma'am, because Lina will answer that she is not a doctor," said Tyo when introducing me who was greeted with laughter because of Tyo's explanation just now.

"Lina is a graduate of Bisakti University majoring in Interior Design. We were classmates in 1st grade, but at that time we only knew names and faces, there was no conversation. We started to meet again less than a year ago, until I finally asked for it 5 months ago, right at the end of the year. Then 2 weeks ago we were officially married in Jakarta," explained Tyo at length.

After that, the event continued with the warm-heartedness of the entire staff family, I joined the women and Tyo with the men.

"Mom Lina so that's Dr.'s schoolmate. The stump?"

"Yes ma'am, we were first classmates, as described earlier," I replied.

"That means you've known me for a long time?"

"Hmm more precisely know, Mom. We just know names and faces, the rest we don't know much about each other" I explained.

Being in the middle of a new and quite unfamiliar environment, made me withdraw slowly from the conversation. I just answered the questions that were directed at me, the rest I was just being passive.

The following days, my activities as a housewife began to run normally. I wash clothes once every 2 days, still in the traditional way, which is to soak, rub and squeeze them using only the power of the hands. Tyo also helped me on the sidelines of his break.

As a result in 2 weeks the skin of my hand began to peel on the part of his knuckles.

"Oh my God, how can this be his hand?" tanya Tyo while holding my palm.

"Holy," I answered briefly.

"It must be painful" he said, grimacing as if he felt the pain I was experiencing.

"A little bit, but I already gave you the ointment" I replied.

"Gini deh, this week we buy the same washing machine AC, rather than sacrificing hands like this," said Tyo who made me cheer.
