The Legend of the Devil

The Legend of the Devil
Ch. 105 - Conspiring with the Devil

"Is everything ready?"

A young man tightened his belt and then overtook the sword hilt while staring at the mirror reflection, looking a little frightened in both eyeballs but he was determined to keep doing so.

The residence of the Xian noble family was so quiet at night, the cold air slid through the cracks and shook the candle flame that was lighting in Xian Shen's room. The loyal followers of the Xian Clan nodded, but for a moment there was anxiety on the hue of his face.

"Is Young Master Xian sure of this? I'm afraid anything happened to Mr ..."

The woman noticed Xian Shen's handsome face from the side, she had been looking after Xian Shen since childhood and had never once seen the young man deliberately looking for trouble.

The last few weeks there had been a check-up between Xian Shen and Master Xian-her master, it made the relationship between the father's son more tenuous. Xian Shen's father said that the demon should have died. But his son, who did not accept the defense, had Xian Shen sentenced to three days of abstinence from eating and was locked up in the basement of his home.

Who would have thought, now Xian Shen said he was going to go trace the footsteps of the mysterious group that might be a clue to Xue Zhan's death.

Although without the help of his father Xian Shen persisted, he hired a spy expert using private money and discovered one irregularity.

On the day that Xue Zhan was whipped by the people of the Eternal Valley, an unknown foreign disciple entered the college.

That recognition from the informer is valuable information that perhaps only he has. Therefore Xian Shen would not waste this opportunity after knowing where the person had gone.

"This is my decision. If you ask me where I'm going, just tell me I'm meditating on the mountain. I'll go first."

Xian Shen went through the window silently, leaving the woman behind. The white curtain fluttered as the wind entered the room, the female servant took in an agitated breath. When he was about to close the window suddenly the wind came so strong.

Dead candle flame blown by wind. Instantly the room was pitch black, the woman shivered when she realized someone had been behind her back.

"Please"

Xian Shen came to a high-class inn that only wealthy people could rent, according to the information he had obtained his target was in this place. She wears a fox mask and red robes with flowers. Xian Shen walked into the living room intending to reserve a room.

Everything was going quite ordinary, at the end of the conversation Xian Shen brought the face closer while dragging five gold pieces on the man in front of him.

"Tell me, did you see a man about 34 years old coming here, he was wearing a fox fur mask and a red flower robe."

Seeing the five gold pieces the man was in doubt, until Xian Shen finally took out another five pieces to open the servant's mouth.

Sure enough that it worked to get the servant to talk, he took ten gold pieces while saying a small word. "If you're looking for it, you're late. He left this place two hours ago all of a sudden."

Xian Shen was left one step behind, he clenched his hands on the table while cursing.

"Do you know where he's going?" ask again. The waiter thought for quite a while until he hurriedly spoke before another guest entered the inn.

"Maybe to the town square, my lord. Sorry can't help much."

The young man walked out of the inn, his footsteps moving swiftly down the crowded street by the townspeople. Lanterns and wreaths open on display on the walls of the second-level house, there seems to be a festival event at this place.

The man wearing a furry fox mask and a flower-red robe, Xian Shen broke through the crowd to chase after him and instantly pulled the man's wrist.

Drawn suddenly clearly made the man startled and cursed in disbelief, he brushed aside Xian Shen's hand.

"What the fuck?!"

Dozens of pairs of eyes stared at the source of the commotion started by Xian Shen, not a few who instantly dodged when they saw the two men both carrying swords and might invite a fight.

"Who are you really? And what did you do while you were in the Eternal Valley?" Xian Shen still held back his anger, maintaining the honor of the notoriously meek Xian clan.

"I? I should have asked that!"

Another disciple was overtaking between Xian Shen and the masked man, he explained. "Why did you attack him?"

Xian Shen's hands clenched, rumors began to sound around him. Many questioned Xian Shen's attitude back then, he immediately spoke up regardless of the commotion around him.

"This person may have something to do with the death of my best friend, Xue Zhan! I have to ask him, was he in the Eternal Valley on the day that Xue Zhan was sentenced to the whip?"

The young man furrowed both his eyebrows and turned around, the masked man was also as flirtatious as him and tried to digest what had happened.

"Young Master Xian, you're wrong," the disciple finally made a sound. "We haven't visited the Eternal Valley in five years, after all to come there requires a special plaque that is difficult for ordinary college students like us to obtain. And he was," he pointed to the masked young man earlier.

"He is our College Brother, Wei Lu. There was a burn scar on his face and embarrassed him to show his real face so he used the mask. If you still don't believe me please look in the closed room. Or ask the people here to make sure that we're from Bukit Empat Sempus."

After confirming it himself, it turned out that the person was still under 20 years old and came from one of the Diqiu Empire's secondary colleges. Xian Shen was speechless other than to apologize to the two disciples from the Four Seasons Hill while enduring embarrassment.

The two disciples were about to leave but soon one of them turned around and said, "Be careful with false informers. They just want your money. Rather than worrying about the death of a dead person you better worry about yourself. Right now hunters are on the loose, people like you might be being targeted by them."

Then they both just left. Xian Shen no longer got a trace, until night fell he did not get what he wanted. His footsteps led the young man back to his home.

Right in the courtyard of his residence, Xian Shen froze, his heart like it stopped beating, his face deathly pale. The hunter had already knocked on the door of his house, he hurriedly ran to see his servant hanging tied with a rope from the window lifeless and scarred.

"What .. ."

He ran to open the room, when the light from the full moon came into the room whose candle was dead, Xian Shen saw two pairs of legs lying on the floor covered in blood. He frightenedly lifted his face, to see the face of the couple.

His shout broke the silence that night. His family was slaughtered with their servants. Only Xian Shen survived.

Xian Shen cried bitterly, his hands trying to shake his mother's body, "Mother! You hear me? No ...! Why is it like this? I'm the one who might die today but why are you guys ... Why should my family? What is their fault exactly?!"

His eyes were blurry but still able to see a piece of paper, he grabbed it and read the writing with great trembling hands.

"Congruence with the Devil ..."
