The Legend of the Devil

The Legend of the Devil
Ch. 58 - Three Youths in the Unggun Fire

The sound of a twig train makes a young man wake up from his stupor when the morning comes, he opened his eyes and saw the shadow of someone from the campfire light sitting still while practicing his profound strength in using the Book of Heavenly Phoenix.

His meditation had been going on for a long time, including that two days the exam had taken place but Xue Zhan had not seen many other participants, there were some whom he had met had mostly died in mysterious ways. Some leave only clothes, burned to the bone, exposed to poison, trapped traps and much more.

The city was vast, but fortunately from the few participants Xue Zhan met he had faced one dying participant and fought him over the scroll. He stared briefly at the scroll before his eyes were fixed on someone who had just woken up.

"Damn it, what's going on?" He held his throbbing head.

"You fought with one of the illusionists and were knocked unconscious. It's just like that."

"Sad." He clicked his tongue and searched his chest for something with a hint of panic, then Xue Zhan threw something that made him more relieved.

"Your necklace. It must be precious to you."

As usual the demon did not even know how to say a word of thanks, Xue Zhan ignored him and continued with his training since it was already late at night to continue on the journey. Going forward is not necessarily safe, there will be other dangers that lurk both.

Occurring a moment of silence until suddenly something approached, Xue Zhan woke up from his seat, Jiazhen Yan got up immediately took a position even though his body had not improved so much. The two pairs of eyes lurked to a handsome young man who came bouncing closer to the light of the bonfire, and it was there that he found another human after two days of being chased by terrifying creatures.

"Finally!" he screamed like a man trapped on a foreign island for years. "I-I don't intend to interrupt, but let me be with you tonight, may I?"

Xian Shen, that young man looked scared when he saw it from his face just now. Not without reason, he had a great fear of dark places and supernatural beings. Finding two humans - if not sure of humans or not - is a miracle for her now. At least he wasn't as scared as he was.

"You're trying to trick us? Already know the law of the jungle applies here? Find dead?" Jiazhen Yan fused his brows, fierce exactly like a starving lion.

"I won't bother you guys, I'll sleep here tonight-"

"I'm helping you sleep forever."

Xian Shen began to desperately argue with Jiazhen Yan who had no heart, he turned his head towards Xue Zhan asking for mercy.

"I promise I won't do anything ..."

Jiazhen Yan began to take up arms, Xian Shen retreated, then Xue Zhan held his friend's hand.

"Hey, don't be a vigilante!"

Xian Shen heaved a sigh of relief.

"If the vigilante were to be able to," his dream made Xian Shen limp, just as the wits of demons and devils were. Xue Zhan chuckled at the hue on Xian Shen's face at the moment, haggard and deathly pale like a chicken laying eggs. Out of pity he allowed her to join.

They surround the campfire.

"The committee didn't say the exam was an individual or a group, so I don't think it's a problem for us to join, '" Xue Zhan said, taking a nod from Xian Shen. "If we were alone I'm sure it would be easy to be killed by impromptu enemies in this city. Know it? They set a lot of traps and bad people. It's far more terrible than we thought. I've circled all over the place in this city and seen with my own eyes how the other participants died. The survivors may not have been more than two hundred people ..."

Xian Shen's long explanation momentarily made Jiazhen Yan's facial expression change, "That means you already have the scroll?"

"I've already." Xian Shen said. Jiazhen Yan looked at Xue Zhan afterwards and the young man took out his scroll.

"When you passed out I met the enemy and took him. I think you should try harder, Raja," he said.

Xian Shen seemed to want to laugh at Jiazhen Yan, it made him want to scratch Xue Zhan's face.

Xue Zhan was a little annoyed, "Once you hear the voice of this commoner, without the scroll you might be able to fail. You think to yourself, how do you get the scroll while finding other participants alone is so difficult? Not to mention who has the scroll. Those who already had must have been hiding until the round was over. We only have one more day."

Jiazhen Yan already knew without Xue Zhan reminding him. He just snorted. But for a moment he seemed to be grinning horribly.

"Died take your rolls."

Xian Shen and Xue Zhan stared at each other in horror.

"Xian Shen, do you like pet animals?"

"Huh?" The young man was shocked, "Lumayan likes it. Why?"

He pointed at Jiazhen Yan. "Want to adopt this animal? It's a bit fierce and it likes to bite, but it can speak human language."

Xian Shen imagined Jiazhen Yan to be a dog, he had already tried not to laugh but to see Jiazhen Yan's face as his laughter exploded.

The two run away when Jiazhen Yan is suddenly possessed by her own fellow demon. He rampaged and burned the trees, creating a commotion.

*

Three people in black robes walked together into the forest without any of them speaking up since an hour ago - more precisely after the debate and no one succumbed to them eventually be silent.

The only man among the three again teased because they were not satisfied with the results of their previous negotiations.

"The two said we should monitor as much detail as possible, we haven't gotten much information and go straight home?"

"What else are you looking for?" Most adult women reverse with jutek.

"I'm done here. There's no reason to linger." Now the youngest responded equally tightly, making the man start to be cornered. He raised both hands while breathing heavily.

"Come ..." the post.

"You want my disciple to go berserk and kill that demon? As long as his mind is clear you better come along. Our disguise can be sniffed by the Empire's dog."

"If it wants you, whatever. Come back I'll probably be a little longer here."

The long haired woman squinted her eyes, scooping her shoulders, not caring.

"Until this disguise is uncovered I'll take out your entrails and feed them to my pet fish."

Both passed. The man turned around, looked at a fiery light that was getting brighter for a few seconds and peeked out from behind the bushes.

His pupils opened wide behind a white cross mask, as if he were looking at a diamond in a haystack. He emphasized his presence to the very end. Yet the young man's eyes were still staring at him suspiciously.

"I like that ..."

His eyes grew wildly staring at the figure, a demonic grin plastered behind his mask.

"A very sharp and beautiful eye ... So beautiful, that I want to make my dinner now ..."
