The Legend of the Devil

The Legend of the Devil
Ch. 39 - War of 10 Years

The blazing flames of war burned the entire Empire, the endless bloodshed of days and the destruction of many things in the final assault which became the covering sheet of the presence of the demon race, at that time, war is a frightening specter. All the residents shut their doors tightly and ended up being slaughtered in their homes.

Not just one house, exceeding tens of thousands of houses and millions of souls floated due to the attacks that the demons had unleashed back then.

There are some allegations that have emerged. A demonic attack would not be that big without a huge push behind it. Various assumptions became hot talk, but from the news only one is often heard at that time;

Two Red Taring high-ranking men were involved in the war - or more accurately referred to as the massacre.

They were Dai Zhen-height as well as one of the three Red Taring founders and his subordinate back then, Kang Ying.

Worries run high and never meet the common ground. Then someone conveys his closeness,

"I will go to take their heads," said the old man as he stared at the giant statue ahead, imagining the valiant young man saying it a second time. The young soul spirit burning in his heart had indeed been extinguished for a long time. But when he saw the carving of a statue of himself in his youth, the man again felt the same bubbling.

Amidst the shock that engulfed the entire Empire, Zhao Xuyang set out towards the battlefield single-handedly by relying on just a single sword, he fought to the point of the final bloodline.

Amidst the fierce fight that the thousands of Heroes in the Red Taring headquarters also fought, he came last and became the only male to survive. A once-in-a-lifetime fortune appeared, Zhao Xuyang killed the exhausted Red Fingers higher-ups Dai Zhen fighting against thousands of warriors before.

As a result of the fall of the Red Taring founder the group resigned and the demon race weakened, the emergence of one hero also turned the originally weak warriors into so strong. Because they believe, while there are heroes they win. The 35-day war against the demon race ended in a sweet victory. The race ended, sealed, killed, burned, stabbed, even buried alive. There was nothing left of the descendants.

"Then here I am," he said in a soft tone. "That once-in-a-lifetime fortune made me known to many people, even to the four great empires. The women surrounded me, honorific titles embedded in my face and body. But ..." The sentence was stuck on the tip of his lips, "I never felt worthy of it. I look away every time I see the statue."

"I came to the battlefield to end human suffering. Not to be a great hero known and glorified. It was a tough task, as long as you know," for a moment his eye level was sidetracked at Xue Zhan who was silent in a mute. Feeling his ambition to be a hero starts to fall into error.

"I was sent down to various battlefields. He was led to win in all circumstances. I was the epitome of courage they said, so I forced myself not to meet with defeat. Since that day ... My days turned grim. I let my friend get killed so I could win. Sentencing my wife to death for breaking the rules, torturing my children, ignoring my family. I'm blind in honor."

Xue Zhan could hear it. A voice that held tightness within his chest, the man let out a breath. "I realized it when I had lost everything."

Zhao Xuyang closed his story with a smile on his old face, for a while Xue Zhan looked at the man.

"I don't see you as the one who has lost everything" he argued.

"But I admit that being a hero means giving up all of your body and soul to serve. Even if you have to throw people around you. But on the one hand you managed to save the smiles of the crowd. You saved a father so his son wouldn't be orphaned, saved a son so that a couple wouldn't lose their son."

"Maybe what you did in the past makes you regret, but isn't there a good thing going on?"

The man smiled, "there's never been anyone who said that," he muttered so small. The afternoon wind gently caressed the faces of the two.

"Everyone who listens to my story forces me to forgive myself and look forward. Even though I failed for many years, I still regret many things that happened in the past."

"But you're right. There are good things and bad things that happen. It is a common thing that often happens in life. Depends on how you accept that."

Xue Zhan had heard the advice from his Grandfather, he said, "The bad thing that happened is going to be bad when we think it is something unforgivable. Depending on the way we look at it, whether as a high wall blocking the road, a stone tripping, or even a ladder to climb to the top. Isn't that regret an experience? Although bad, but many valuable things can be taken."

Zhao Xuyang felt he was talking to people of his age.

Now he was so shocked when he got to know Xue Zhan further.

His mouth spoke without a second thought, "Hey, it seems like I'm starting to like you."

Xue Zhan shook his hands in front of his chest, "Ahahaha I just repeated the advice of my grandfather. He's gone, but he's a very wise man."

"so. I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Zhao Xuyang," he said extending a hand. Xue Zhan stared for a moment and greeted enthusiastically, "Xue Zhan! Call by any name. What should I call you? Uncle Zhao? Grandpa?"

"Grandfather seems more suitable to me. Haha."

"Haha okay. Grandfather Zhao is still a hero?" tanyakanya.

"I've quit that a long time ago." Zhao Xuyang threw a glance back at the statue, "But if you want to know, I am currently serving as one of the Council of Nine," he continued to make Xue Zhan freeze.

How could he meet someone as important as this man on the hill and talk like his own grandfather. It makes it a little hot cold. But the way the man was dressed did not reveal that he was in the elite caste.

"Shocked? Haha. You must have been more surprised when I said I've seen you training lately on this hill. Rarely does anyone come here but me."

"Ja-so all this time Grandpa Zhao saw me practice?!" to his surprise, "Aish, it's a disgrace to my lousy training. It's been two months, teacher said I still haven't improved the inner circle. Still stuck in five circles. My physique is also not developing much, I miss a lot from my friends."

Zhao Xuyang raised his eyebrows, "Certainly?" Without excuse he checked Xue Zhan's pulse, inspected the inside of his body and felt a considerable flow of strength. He pulled a thin smile.

'You're pretending to be weak or your teacher is tricking you?' his inner.

"You're Kang Jian's student, huh?"

"Yes, Grandpa Zhao."

"There are so many mistakes in your training. As long as I have plenty of time, I can help you increase your power."

Xue Zhan opened his eyes.

"Really?" He's still amazed. Taught directly by a great hero as well as a member of the Council of Nine, it was a rare stroke of luck. Xue Zhan immediately took the opportunity.

"With all due respect I accept it!"

"You're training to take the Intermediate Swordsman Exam in three months, aren't you?"

Xue Zhan nodded with eyes full of flames. Zhao Xuyang laughed amusedly, truly a young soul spirit.

"Don't say anything to your teacher. It's our secret." Just then Zhao Xuyang again laughed at Xue Zhan's response.

In his heart he spoke, 'If I had a grandson maybe he was a little younger than this child ...'
