The Legend of the Devil

The Legend of the Devil
Ch. 194 - Traveling Friend One

Xiao Rong felt that something was amiss, he shook his head to expel the strange thoughts that appeared. He was a little confused, how could the figure that had just passed him disappear just like that?

However, then Xiao Rong realized that there was something more important than that. He stood up and held up his food plate that had been untouched all night. He held up one hand, a sign that their lunch was over. Chen Ming who was still busy chugging the wine nodded in understanding. "You're right. I need to rest so I can get back to work tomorrow."

Chen Ming momentarily smiled, "By the way, don't think too much of the white mask swordsman. Today is a great day for us, don't let this worry you too much."

Xiao Rong turned his face without saying a word and disappeared from his sight.

Xue Zhan took a deep breath as he arrived at the city road that was quite far from the place to eat. Xiao Rong had almost realized that it was him. Plus he was humiliated earlier in front of the crowd just because he forgot the money he left to Xiang Yi Bai.

Xue Zhan cursed a little, he was too rash until news of him spread so quickly all over the place. Today she had heard the story about him dozens of times.

Not a good thing for him, he was sure that if he met Xiang Yi Bai now his neck was instantly broken.

For a moment Xue Zhan was relieved to see Xiao Rong who now looked calm and focused on his current life, without again getting caught up in the past problems that had changed his attitude to be so cold. He was silent for a moment, recalling the times when he and Xiao Rong were engaged in a big fight on the brink first and it made the young man change his outlook towards life.

Especially against the heartless ruthless humans who hated people with powers like himself and Xue Zhan so much.

Xue Zhan felt grateful that Xiao Rong still had Li Jia Xing so caring and affectionate towards Xiao Rong as his own biological child. His heart was relieved, although it still felt a heavy burden over what had happened in the past. He realizes that every action has consequences and that there must be responsibility for his actions. Xue Zhan did not want Xiao Rong to know that he was still alive.

At least until the war is over.

"I'm sorry, Xiao Rong ..." He smiled weakly. Remembering the figure of the black-eyed little boy who was crouching alone on the edge of the garden without anyone willing to play with him.

Time passes quickly. Xue Zhan had snatched away the smile on the little boy's face by showing him the true nature of the humans who had hunted his life.

"I wish you could laugh again like you used to, my friend."

Xue Zhan confirmed the bamboo caping on his head, walking firmly towards the crowd in front of him. Then disappeared in the crowd.

Xue Zhan was looking for another route to travel through Ying Bay. After buying a map from an antique shop, he decided to walk alone through villages, towns, mountains and even valleys. Although having to go further it is better than having to interact with a human who can at any time recognize who he is.

Then he crossed the arid battlefield area, a little surprised when he found dozens of corpses of soldiers lying lifeless.

There seems to have been a war between the two camps there. Xue Zhan walked across the dry and desolate battlefield plains. There was no sound except the sound of his footsteps walking.

Each step was heavy with a puddle of thick blood, and dozens of lifeless corpses of soldiers were lying around. Their rotting faces formed a monstrous appearance with wide-eyed and bodies that gave off a disgusting foul smell.

Shabby and torn flags lying on the ground. The stuffy wind blew carrying the fishy air and the scent of blood that made Xue Zhan feel like he was in a dead world.

The horse looked weak and tried to get up in vain. There were no people around, only Xue Zhan and the horse were the only living creatures in that place.

Xue Zhan was silent for a moment, observing the state of the horse that was sounding in pain. He approached the animal carefully, fearing that someone was hunting him. But there was no sign of anyone around. Xue Zhan put his pity on seeing the helpless horse.

Without a second thought, Xue Zhan whipped out all the arrows that stuck in the horse's body. In an instant blood gushed from the wounds of the arrow marks that tore through the flesh of the beast.

Xue Zhan tried to apply the basic healing skills that Xiang Yi Bai had taught him to help a dying horse as quickly as possible.

Carefully, he placed his palm on top of the animal's chest, just moments as a white light emerged from his hand. He concentrated the energy in his body and channeled the power to heal the horse's wounds. The healing process took several minutes.he patiently waited until the wound on the horse's body healed and disappeared.

After healing him, Xue Zhan stroked the poor horse's head while saying, "You're safe. Go back to where you came home. This isn't your place."

Xue Zhan stood back up again continuing on the journey in that blood-filled, sandy wasteland. He continued walking until he began to realize that a slow horseshoe was coming from behind him.

Xue Zhan stopped and turned his head, seeing the horse following him from behind.

"Why? You don't have a house?"

He sighed, if anyone asked him that maybe the response was almost the same as that horse. He looked down at the ground, looked desperate and lost his life spirit.

"Alright, alright. One friend from the Barren Land. I will not forbid you to follow me" he said as he continued on.

Perhaps the horse did not understand what he was saying but Xue Zhan's voice and response made him further speed up the pace and walk by Xue Zhan's side.

"Oh, are we friends?" Xue Zhan laughed as he stroked the horse's neck. "Travel Friend One. Doesn't that sound fun?"

The two walked down the road next to each other.

Xue Zhan had not expected that time to return to get the friend that would accompany him. He started looking for a name for the horse,

"It seems that about choosing a name I have bad taste, Fenghuang said so," he muttered while thinking hard. He stared at the horse, looking at the black eyes and shiny dark fur that looked dashing.

"Zhongyi means loyalty and virtue. I think this name suits you."

Just one pick, the horse looked delighted, he walked ahead of Xue Zhan then stopped to see Xue Zhan return.

Xue Zhan chuckled softly as he said. "Alright, Zhongyi. My goal is now to go to Ying Bay." He stared at the thick fog on the arid ground while determined inwardly.

"And complete the destruction made by the 'Bonch Controller'."
