The Legend of the Devil

The Legend of the Devil
Ch. 186 - The Life of Miss Wen

Wen Zhiqiang glanced suspiciously at the mysterious figure with a mask appearing before him. His sharp eyes glanced sharply at that figure without a clear identity.

But when the masked young man started to speak, Wen Zhiqiang felt a little familiar but could not guess who the person behind the mask was.

"You who?" tanyanya.. He looked at the figure's eyes meticulously and saw a pair of red eyes inside the hole of the mask.

Xue Zhan did not reply for a few seconds, trying to think of how he could explain things to Wen Zhiqiang. Xue Zhan had never known Wen Zhiqiang personally, so he did not know how Wen Zhiqiang would respond if he told her the truth.

He wished that Wen Zhiqiang had never heard anything about him, especially about his death in the Gorge of Regret. After all Xue Zhan needed a stopover, at least until the night of the storm passed. Too risky to move in the forest at night, Xue Zhan knew very well there were so many criminals roaming around at night and the only place that was before his eyes was this wooden hut.

Rain still fell from his hair and clothes. The drops of water on the floor became the only sound that ruled the place. Until Xue Zhan finally decided to speak.

"Before that, I wanted to ask, did you really lock yourself up in this place and avoid any interaction with anyone?"

Wen Zhiqiang thought for a few seconds before finally answering, still harboring suspicion. "really. I was surprised to hear you call my first name. Tell me, who are you?"

Xue Zhan was a little relieved when he knew Wen Zhiqiang was not involved with anything outside and unmasked him.

"Xue Zhan," Then there was a faint smile on both corners of his lips. Wen Zhiqiang was momentarily glued to see that face and smile. He was a little misbehaved, for some time Xue Zhan started to get confused not getting any response.

"You don't know me, Miss Wen. It's only natural ... It's been five years."

"W-how could I forget you," he lowered his face. "You and your friends saved me that day." Wen Zhiqiang so remembered that it was the young man who gave the idea to let her go alone. Without forcing him back to his clan residence.

Xue Zhan. "Thank God then, Miss Wen. It's good to see you healthy, and a miracle to see you again."

Wen Zhiqiang's cheeks slightly blushed, either because it was a fever due to rain when taking vegetables. But the former Xue Zhan was much different from the one he was looking at now. Those red eyes still looked amiable looking at him, he had a handsome face and a gentle demeanor.

The girl regained her senses and began to look at the surroundings while offering. "Sit down, I'll make you some warm tea."

As the two conversed, only Xue Zhan found out what had happened to the girl after she decided to dodge alone.

Xue Zhan also remembered what happened after they released Wen Zhiqiang. They were summoned to the advisors and elders for letting Wen Zhiqiang off without being returned to his family.

But now Xue Zhan was grateful to save that woman from a hell called family. His father treated him like a test kit. He experienced terrible things from childhood to growing up and last time was almost used as a container to hold the power of the Earth Ruler Element Stone belonging to the Feng Empire. But now the girl survived and she was able to live quietly alone in the wilderness.

"After escaping from the Cursed Forest I soon got here, no one dared to stay in a place like this. I'm lucky to be able to live quite without being bothered, even if I have to be alone but this is more than enough to go back to my family."

His face still holds sadness. "Just, I don't know what happened to my sister. Whether he becomes the next trial container or not ... He'll be very tormented."

Xue Zhan was just listening to the girl's story. Not knowing what to give a response. Wen Zhiqiang's life had been difficult since he was born. Now that she chose the right path, it was just that sometimes the girl felt guilty for leaving everything behind and just running away. He was never ready to go back to hell.

"Then how are you? Did you guys make it to the Empire after saving me?"

A second Xue Zhan was stunned, trying to pull out a thin smile even though it looked more like a bitter smile

"We arrived safely, Miss Wen. Nothing interesting to tell."

Whereas on that day, where he met the 45th Elder, his life was shattered and filled with twists and turns. The handsome and admired Xian Shen turned into an unkempt dirty shabby youth. The gluttonous yet kind Xiao Rong turned into a cold young man who was reluctant to speak even a word.

And lastly, Jiazhen Yan, disappeared without a trace.

Xue Zhan raised his hand, restraining Wen Zhiqiang who was a little hasty. "Miss Wen, it's not like that. They were so busy that we couldn't see each other for nearly five years. I think it's gonna be hard to meet them together."

"Then just meeting Mr. Xian or Mr. Jiazhen, it might be easier."

Xue Zhan mana might explain how Xian Shen was doing now. The young man would not want to see Wen Zhiqiang. Moreover, his demon friend who had been kidnapped by the demon, who knew where he was now, Xue Zhan shook his head three times.

"I can't grant it, Miss Wen. I'm sorry."

He continued. "But I'm glad you can talk more freely and cheerfully. Despite all the problems in the past, I'm sure there's somewhere in this part of the world that can accept you well. Miss Wen, you can get out of here. Those people won't be looking for you if you're undercover."

The girl looked a little disappointed when she heard him, she tried to hide it with a smile.

"Sorry, but I'm more comfortable living here" Wen Zhiqiang replied as he looked at the entire hut. He used to live in luxurious pavilions, decorated with ponds and blooming flowers every season. But a place as beautiful as that does not give him happiness. But this place takes it so well and takes care of it during the night. Wen Zhiqiang was not ready to return to the outside world.

"I understand." In the end Xue Zhan was trying to understand. A moment of silence ensued, Wen Zhiqiang silently turned his head towards Xue Zhan with a gaze of harboring questions. The young man looked at her slowly.

"Is there anything else you want to ask, Miss Wen?"

"Why did you get to this place?"

"A mission from the Empire to eradicate the Purple Centipede around here."

"What are the chances that someone else will come?"

"I'm alone, no one's coming so don't worry."

Wen Zhiqiang nodded. "I will prepare food and bed for you. Wait a minute."

A moment Xue Zhan was a little uneasy, "I'm only here for a moment, maybe tomorrow morning I will return to continue the journey, so there's no need to bother ..."

"You were my first guest. How could I ignore you?"

Smile at the girl before leaving the middle room and start lighting a fire inside the room.

A long time ago the girl came back, Xue Zhan was a little curious and asked a single question, not expecting Wen Zhiqiang to be able to answer it.

"Miss Wen, do you know about the Red Fangs?"

The girl who was putting down the iron cup filled with warm water stopped, thought in silence and answered a little hesitantly. "I just know they're a group of criminals trying to seize famous heirlooms around the world. That's it, nothing more."

"All right, I get it."

"But ..." The girl hung up her sentence.

"What?"

"If you want to find information about them, I know who you can meet."

Wen Zhiqiang looked into his eyes fixedly. "Only a few people knew about him, I knew him because he often met him. He was a secret information expert in the Feng Empire and knew a lot of information that was not supposed to be known. If you want to look for her, she's in Ying Bay. Living on the coast and mingling among the fishermen. If you manage to find him, I'm sure he has all the information you need."
