Ch. 98 - Elder Xiang and the Pit of Regret

Joints and bones such as moving cause pain in the chest, he took a deep breath and even made his lungs throbbing pain. Xiang Yi Bai looked disinterestedly towards him. It was already nightfall and the temperature at the bottom of the Regret Gorge dropped drastically. With Xue Zhan's current body he wasn't necessarily able to withstand the coldness of this place.

"Finally you wake up too" Xiang Yi Bai's grumble pitched in annoyance. He picked up one grilled fish that was stabbed on a small wooden stalk as he walked towards the young man. Still putting on a jutek face.

"Eat, your stomach is empty for two months. Your strength must return as soon as possible so that you can adapt to the temperature below this chasm."

Xue Zhan stared for a moment at Xiang Yi Bai, his gaze blurry for a few seconds until a white-robed figure was clearly visible before him. He was not dreaming, when he lowered his gaze and looked at himself, Xue Zhan only realized the state of his body was much better. There are only a few scars that may not go away.

But Xue Zhan could not believe that there were humans in this world capable of treating a dying person whose body had been destroyed.

His eyes narrowed and lashed out at it glaring at him, "Take it. It's." He spelled out with emphasis, Xue Zhan then gasped and immediately picked up the fish.

"Thank you, Elder Xiang."

Xiang Yi Bai flicked his robe then sat down next to Xue Zhan.

"Elder-"

"That's-"

They were both speechless for a moment, Xiang Yi Bai swooped his eyebrows and directly charged over like a ferocious lion. "How dare he cut my talk. Here I lost a lot of time and energy to save you, and you asked first?"

Xue Zhan lowered his head, "Sorry, Elder. I'm just wondering who you really are until you can treat a very fatal internal outer wound. You must be a great man."

The anger on Xiang Yi Bai's face dissipated instantly, he laughed happily as he spoke, "Hahaha, my martial arts are indeed a bit more powerful than my medical science. But that alone can save a hick boy like you. Not because I want to save you either, but I've only slightly trained my ability to not dull."

Xue Zhan's eyes flickered, although the praise-hungry Old Monster still did not eliminate Xiang Yi Bai's admirable side.

That question left Xue Zhan speechless for quite some time.

"I can answer another question just don't it," Xue Zhan replied at last which made Xiang Yi Bai offended.

"Oh .. so. After I've been dying for two months to save you you're still trying to cover your identity for the man who bet you life. That's grand. I can turn you off like blowing out a candle just so you know," Xiang Yi Bai threatened.

"Bu-not Elder Xiang. I didn't mean to hide anything!" Xue Zhan was at a loss to explain where.

"I just don't know who I really am ...."

Xue Zhan looked at his palm and felt his life was in vain.

"Heh, just looking at your stupid face I already know." Xiang Yi Bai put his body aside and looked at Xue Zhan fixedly.

"You are the reincarnation of the War Young King?"

Xue Zhan was shocked to the point of being speechless, "No! I also don't know who the Young King of War is-"

"Oh. Wrong." Xiang Yi Bai narrowed his eyes until it disappeared. "Why?"

Xue Zhan replied, "Sorry Elder, I have absolutely no idea who my parents are."

The young man stroked his aching head while answering. "There's so much going on, I went back to Guxia Village to find the answer. But unfortunately the only person who knows about this truth is gone, he's my grandfather."

Grief was visible on Xue Zhan's slowly grim face, at this moment all memories flashed across his head and made him moody.

"But" Xue Zhan said suddenly, "Other people call me a demon and in my body is a dangerous force called Sin. Humans hate demons like me. That's what got me dead into this Gorge of Regret."

Xiang Yi Bai got up and walked towards the riverbank, the only lighting was a campfire. Xue Zhan who had been suffocated by the cold air had followed the man to immediately sit by the bonfire.

"Devil has long been extinct. Who would have thought you'd actually survived that day."

Xiang Yi Bai only muttered while the boy did not listen and was busy getting closer to the fire. He was so cold that the sound of his teeth was heard.

"In this place, it's not just wild animals. Temperature can kill you."

Xue Zhan nodded, looked at Xiang Yi Bai for quite a while and finally pissed the man off.

"What's? You see what?"

The man's attitude and temperament did not look like an adult, Xue Zhan considered him like a college big brother seeing how young the man was. He did not know Xiang Yi Bai was probably five times older than he expected.

"Chairman Xiang, can I ask now?"

Xiang Yi Bai had yet to get a satisfactory answer. He did not answer, the boy spoke.

"I'm truly grateful that Elder Xiang was willing to save me. I also didn't expect anyone to live in such a dangerous place like this, but seeing Elder Xiang's ability seemed like the danger was meaningless. It's just ..."

His words came to a halt as Xiang Yi Bai turned his head towards him again.

"Why did Elder Xiang save me and the reason you locked yourself in this abyss?" Xue Zhan said, "If Elder Xiang doesn't want to answer I won't force."

"It wasn't me who saved you, but you yourself who asked to be saved. You push down the Gate of Death and desperately return to the world even though you know the world's life hurts. If I had a choice between life and death, I would choose death."

He digested Xiang Yi Bai's words for a few seconds, did that man mean he couldn't die? People often call it eternity. Xue Zhan's lifetime had never seen firsthand the truly immortal person as told.

Xiang Yi Bai threw a face away, for a moment there was a sigh coming from him until he finally let out a voice.

"Sleep. I'll keep the fire at a temperature. Try to adapt to the weather in this ravine if you don't want to waste your life again. If there's any danger you'll handle yourself."

Xiang Yi Bai jumped up high and disappeared inside the darkness. He stood up wondering.

"Did I offend him? Shit, I should have just asked about the Devil's Sin. Don't tell me he left me in a horrible place like this" he muttered in confusion like a chick losing a mother. Let's just say that Xiang Yi Bai is his stepmother and now Xue Zhan wants to call his mother like Xian Shen did.

"Who left you a bad boy?" the call came from above. Xiang Yi Bai sat on one of the tree branches stuck on the cliff wall.

Right after saying so something sounded moving from the other side of the abyss. Xiang Yi Bai noticed it and immediately descended to finish off something that was moving towards Xue Zhan.

Whatever it was Xue Zhan was sure that the creature was extremely dangerous from the evil energy it released. It was just that he did not expect, even though Xiang Yi Bai was annoying and fond of swearing, he was still kind enough to guard Xue Zhan from the tree branch in order to see more of the threat that came.

"Fix your deep breathing, don't daydream! You're already living here, tomorrow I'm gonna beat it up so you know how hard it is to live here!"

Xue Zhan fused his hands together while bowing, "Alright, Elder Xiang!"

The look in his eyes turned brighter, he muttered very little. "Chairman Xiang has given me the opportunity to fix it. I'll come back after getting stronger and straighten out everything that's happened." He remembered all the nightmares he had. Lin Yu Mei, Kang Jian and his friends. Even his ambition was to become a Holy Sword and eradicate the Red Taring group. The spirit of life that was originally extinguished was once again flared up. Xue Zhan lowered his head once more.
