A week passed. In the busy, busy harbour, ships anchored with tightly-tied ropes, sailors were busy moving cargo from ship to land. The sound of the roar of the waves and the commotion of the fisherman mixed into one.
Several soldiers roamed around, maintaining security and order. They patrolled in a vigilant manner, keeping no disturbances that threatened the peace of the port as it had been.
Among the crowd, Xue Zhan was conversing with one of the locals to find information as well as mingle.
Xue Zhan listened seriously, listening to the story about the unusual weather changes that were taking place in this area. They speculated on rumors circulating about the cause behind the phenomenon
Some attribute it to supernatural powers, while others argue that it is a sign of significant natural change. The atmosphere in the harbor was filled with discussions about the rumors circulating, which made people even more worried.
Although in a situation full of question marks, life at the port still goes smoothly. Ships sailed, traveling food vendors peddled their wares, and the sounds of laughter and chatter filled the air. All activities in this port become part of daily life, along with rumors and unusual weather.
Xue Zhan himself was wearing the white mask he had just bought from the street vendor, although it was slightly different from the one Xiang Yi Bai had given him at least it could still be used to cover his face.
Crossing such a precarious sea path, Xue Zhan had now arrived at the small port that was at Ying Bay. The place where an expert informant that Miss Wen told me was located. But it is not easy to find who and where the man lives. Wen Zhiqiang said that the man had mixed among the fishermen.
For that reason he began to venture to places where fishermen gathered and transported catches from the sea. Seeing the busyness of the place from noon to afternoon, but he still did not find the figure he wanted to meet.
If that figure were to blend in among ordinary people, his disguise would have been so great. Xue Zhan was simply unable to find the slightest hint.
He turned around, looking elsewhere to find clues. Thought's dead-end. Everyone there began to suspect him because they continued to pay attention to their activities.
On the other hand he could not carelessly ask, let alone Ying Bay being in such a vulnerable place. The information it digs is also very sensitive as it pertains to the Red Tarynx. Xiang Yi Bai had always emphasized to him not to act rashly in the face of opponents like them.
Xue Zhan went through the busy streets of the city, traversing various taverns and settlements, looking for the trail of an informant who could help him in finding out more about the Red Taring. He briefly visited a number of stores that were famous for their knowledge and information networks, hoping that one of the shop owners had a relationship with the information guru he was looking for. But after visiting several taverns, he did not manage to find any useful clues.
Not wanting to give up so easily, Xue Zhan changed his strategy and decided to look for this information expert in a number of settlements known as the residences of several hidden information gathering groups. He explored narrow streets and dark alleys in hopes of finding the trail he was looking for. However, the more night fell, the harder it was for him to find the clues he needed.
There was news that a group of information gatherers were operating in a port far from the city. Without a doubt, he set out for the port in hopes of finding the information expert he was looking for there.
Arriving at the port, Xue Zhan realized that finding information experts in such a large and busy environment was no easy task. He spent hours wandering around, talking to sailors, traders, and fishermen who interacted with various people. However, the more night fell, the harder it was for him to find the clues he needed.
The night had come down and Xue Zhan was feeling desperate. He pondered his next move and tried to recall whatever information he had found during his quest journey, Xue Zhan had only spent hours without results. If Xue Zhan had the informant's name, he would have been just as difficult to find.
People like sellers of information do not carelessly reveal their names and their whereabouts especially those who already have extensive connections such as with the chairman of the college, the Emperor or other high officials. Xue Zhan had to try to find him, the worst possibility was that he would take days to find that person.
Xue Zhan sat under a shady tree, watching the road in front of him start to be quiet and filled only by the sounds of pelicans from the sea.
Xue Zhan sat quietly watching how the road in front of him started to quiet down. All the hustle and activity of the city seemed to disappear, replaced by a silence filled only with the sounds of nature. He felt a gentle breeze pounding on his face, carrying the fragrance of the wildflowers growing around.
Just then, he began to ponder about his long journey in searching for the information expert he so desperately needed.
The young man took a long breath. Xue Zhan enjoyed this moment to forget his fatigue for a moment. He felt like he was immersed in the tranquility of nature, where all his worries and anxieties seemed to be carried away by the blowing wind.
His state was slightly better than before, although Xue Zhan had yet to be sure if one day the power was back out of control. He watched the field from the end of the road, a man with his son passing through the road carrying a fish. It looks so simple.
The smile on his face was raised when he saw the smile on the fisherman's son's face.
"It doesn't seem to be trained to be a swordsman, but his strength is decent," he murmured involuntarily. With his eyes that possessed the special ability of Xue Zhan often read the strength of a person from the flow within their body. But in some cases he could not read it, one of them when the person pressed his strength to the lowest point making it difficult to read.
His eyes turned to look at the fisherman. Just a regular guy in simple clothes. He was joking with his son.
"It seems that it's not him. Ah ... It's hard to find that informant." Xue Zhan folded both hands behind his head. Slightly lying down with leaning on the tree.
There was nothing he could do but stare at the two people crossing the road before him now. He didn't seem to care much about his presence. His attention was on the little boy, "The portions of his body and movements were different from that of most children.
But his father seemed to have no power at all. It's weird." He's muttering a little. "There are only two possibilities. His father was a real commoner and his son gained the talent of natural strength, or the fisherman was a great swordsman who hid his strength and his son trained in martial arts."
While they had yet to realize his presence Xue Zhan took out a small twig and threw it towards the little boy. Using its power the twig moved straight up to tens of meters.
From far away Xue Zhan saw the twig breaking in the air and becoming dust. The little boy did not react at all, Xue Zhan looked at the man who continued walking as if he did not care about his disturbance.
He got up without a second thought, blocking the path of the two.
"Wait," call Xue Zhan. The man turned his head for a while, not bringing up at all what Xue Zhan was doing but rather talking about something else.
"The waves in Ying Bay have lately been too high to hit, young man."
His words imply something. He assumed that the situation out there was chaotic full of danger, his voice came back. "What brought you all the way here?"
"Wind of the storm, sir."
The little boy looked at Xue Zhan and his father in turn, they spoke a language that was difficult to understand. The fisherman in front of him developed a friendly smile. "Red Fingers, yes." He lowered his voice.
"It just so happens that my wife prepared a lot of dinner today. Come with us."
Xue Zhan nodded and followed the two from behind. It was unexpected that the man was very friendly. There were so many things he wanted to ask but Xue Zhan chose to ask when they arrived at the man's house.
A simple dish was provided on a small table, the fragrant smell of freshly cooked grilled fish spread around them. The woman prepared a dish of freshly baked fish and fresh green vegetables picked directly from their own garden on the table while allowing them to eat.
the family gathered together to tell stories. The name of the man was Qi Zhang. For twenty years he disguised himself among the fishermen and lived like a coastal community. It was never expected that the man had close ties with the Empire's important people.
He is a simple and smiling man. Qi Zhang also guaranteed Xue Zhan's identity to be well preserved, so Xue Zhan could take off his mask to join them for dinner.
Xue Zhan silently listened while occasionally piling up.
Seeing the warmth of the family while remembering the same feeling. A dozen years ago with the Lin family. The first family to accept him and sacrifice a lot for him.
Movement ceased. Xue Zhan stared at the cooking in the bowl, his hands trembling slightly.
The cuisine was almost similar to the food that his grandfather Lin Yu Shan cooked. Such a patient old man he had ever known.
"Why? Is the food bad?" qi Zhang's Wife. Xue Zhan shook his head.
"I just kind of miss home cooking ..." Voice's cut.
"So far from family makes you sad, it's natural. Eat a lot."
Xue Zhan had forgotten he had no home or family. Xue Zhan actually wanted to find out where his original family was, yet his journey was still so long.
After dinner, Qi Zhang asked his wife to bring their child to bed. Only the two of them remained in the dining room.
"Let me guess, you're hunting the Red Fangs, aren't you?"
The conversation went straight to the point, Xue Zhan raised his face and the next remark made his nape cold.
"I know who you are. You are Xue Zhan. You want the name behind your killer? Where did your best friend go? And what does Red Fingers want?"
Xue Zhan was sweating coldly. Whether a sign of danger or not, the man knew a lot about her.
He cannot be underestimated at all.
Judging from the look on his face, the man was indeed as Wen Zhiqiang had said; he had all the answers he wanted.
Xue Zhan fused his ten fingers on the table.
"I'll pay anything for it."
